From the stunning stone Cellar Door, to the rustic yet elegant Book Barn housing our restaurant and bookshop, we invite you to experience the beauty and first-class hospitality of Bendooley Estate.
The food should be have more flavour.
No very tasty at all
I hope the food is better I am having a large car run soon when allowed this month or next month.
Delicious food, well organised operation & very professional & attentive service by Charlotte. Lovely estate, very scenic could not find fault with the meal or venue. Cannot wait to return!
Absolutely love this place , yesterday was our third time dining here as We usually celebrate Mum’s birthday and mother’s day here. The food is delicious, the staff are lovely and the place itself is absolutely stunning. Have recommended Bendooley to many family members and friends.
We went there for our 35th anniversary and had a wonderful dining experience. Food excellent staff attentive and friendly. We intend to go back asap.
Lovely property, we received excellent table service and the food was delicious. Looking forward to another visit.
We love bendooleys. We go every year for our wedding anniversary and the food and atmosphere never disappoints. Fantastic service as well!
Everything was just perfect.
They even had blue sky with an autumn sun.
We plan to return on a chilly winters day so we can soak up the warm open fire.
Have attended Bendooley previously and found the food delicious. I had lunch yesterday with a friend for her birthday and the food was surprisingly poor. I ordered a medium steak but it was rare and almost blue. My friend did not find her meal tasty either, it was a cold ploughman's plate with a terrine. Disappointing food wise but beautiful setting.
I ordered the spatchcock. It was barely warm and somewhat dry. Quite disappointing considering the price of a main. Won’t rush back.
We enjoyed our visit to Bendooley Estates Restaurant, the food was good, service was sound and general experience pleasant.
We have visited Bendooley Estate many times and this is the second time that we haven't had the best experience dining here. We booked a table for 8 at 2pm and as soon after placing our drinks order, the waitress came to inform us that the kitchen was closing and they needed to take our food order. Fine, no issues there. Problem occurs when all of our food (entree & mains) comes at the same time. Spoilt our special birthday meal. Manager was very apologetic and took the entree's off the bill, but the whole experience left us with a sour dining experience.
We enjoy taking visitors to Bendooley to experience the unique ambience. It is only a 15-minute drive from our home so it is also convenient. The food is good, but could not rate it exceptional. We'll return.
Service has slipped! Waiting around to get table. Never asked about dessert or extra drinks. Had to chase them to pay!!
Beautiful setting and food was very creative and not too expensive
Amazing service and food, we had a wonderful afternoon of wine and pizza surrounded by books and vines. Highly recommend
Fabulous lunch with my beautiful friends, Mark the manager noticed the bride to be sash on one of them and had the staff deliver a bottle of wine for her to take home ,,, certainly unexpected and a great way to finish our lunch, food fabulous as always!!!
It appears the lucrative business of weddings has taken the concentration away from the day to day restaurant hospitality of quality food and service Bendooley once had. We ordered a pizza to share for entree & two mains, a salad to follow. The pizza was passable, but the service wasn't when the waitress delivered our main meals onto our small table without clearing away entree plates, utensils and the 'neck brace' pizza holder. As she walked away empty handed she wasn't impressed when I requested she return to take away our entree collection. With the attitude received there was no intention providing clean cutlery, and we were left uncomfortable to ask.
Unfortunately the food didn't save the day. The inedible over dressed salad was swimming in wetness and it flattened within less than a minute of serving. If you held a leaf between your thumb and finger you could slide the dressing off collecting half a teaspoon from each leaf.
Similar to the salad, the lamb was also extremely over dressed. Far too oily, verging on a thick runny unflavoursome pesto style resulting in so much oil you couldn't recognise any flavours, let alone the advised cauliflower, (because it was omitted). This oily inedible accompaniment didn't save the dry strong uric acid flavoured lamb. The other meal served with a congealed sauce (which should have been a eschalot jus) was over salted by what should have been a salsa verde and served on a totally inappropriate plate for steak which bled off the plate onto the table. Should good rested medium steak bleed?
We knew our bad experience wouldn't fair well with our non hospitable waitress and there was an absence of a floor manager. Throughout the meal many trucks busily zoomed in and out past us (and well over the advised speed limit).
Not only is the menu a confusion between Argentina, Italian, French and Middle Eastern, but so to the dishes and after our inedible experience there I couldn't recommend for lunch let alone a wedding.
Lovely setting for lunch either outside on the terrace under large market umbrellas overlooking green fields trees and vineyards or inside the air conditioned book barn surrounded by old and new books lovingly displayed
Lunch menu is casual and varied pasta pizzas salads and more Bendooley wines compliment the dishes Great choice for lunch
Lovely setting, very very busy, lots of flies, great service if a little slow due weddings etc. Food good not great
I would go back happily as surrounds are beautiful but it is noisy and good is only average
I would highly recommend Bendooley Estate.
Sensational view, tastefully decorated, great food and service.
Great venue. Enjoyed lunch with long time friends.
This is a great place for a leisurely lunch
Good food. Gracious service and the bonus of books.
Birthday lunch at our old faithful!
Everything was amazing as always!
Beautiful location. Delicious food. A great place to catch up with friends. Unfortunately we ran out of time to properly browse the books!
Beautiful place and lovely food and wine. The book shop added extra appeal, will definitely be back.
Shocking day at Bendooley Estate. Usually a favourite but the wheels had completely fallen off on Saturday. No one seated us although we had a booking, no service for over 30 minutes, filthy tables stacked with plates and glasses everywhere. They had not cleared entrees when our mains arrived. The manager was extremely rude and there is absolutely no excuse for that kind of treatment...when we mentioned what a poor experience we were having she told us it was just busy!!! Then we’re moved from our table before finishing our wine and even ordering dessert because they had to start a function early...the worst experience ever!!! The young staff had zero direction from management, tables were eventually cleared using a trolley while we were still seated!!!! Awful and disappointing day!!!
Food was amazing. Service was efficient and attentive. Great concept of dining in a book barn. Good venue for any kind of celebration.
Celebrated my Mum's 75th birthday here with the most divine lunch. We were very well taken care of by the staff but the food was the highlight. Lamb Shoulder, Crab Linguine and Grilled Spatchcock all elicited moans of delight. Not the cheapest meal but not prohibitively expensive either, and generous serving sizes for the money spent. We also really loved the setting and grounds as well as the opportunity to browse the book shelves after lunch. Loved everything about it, we'll be back.
It was super quiet..no music.
Booking was not in the desired area. We moved there and it was fine ( its not claer online) when one books...we wanted the tasting room restaurant not the cafe / book barn restaurant. I have booked the tasting room before.
There were no welcome bottles on the table or ready to pour nor offered as requested for guests on arrival.
Have eaten here before and enjoy the location and ambience. Food was good, but not quite up to the standard I remember. Surprisingly, the hostess seated us (two older adults) between two larger tables with infants and toddlers even though there were several other empty 2 person tables at the front of the restaurant. No choices were offered. Fortunately the children were well behaved, but this situation created stress on the families who are trying to keep them quiet and amused. I mean, come on, they are kids and should be allowed to make noise, and a little thought from the staff would make everyone more relaxed. Wines were excellent.
Nice setting, good food but disgraceful service. Would not go back.
Perfect meeting place for friends catching up from Sydney & Canberra. The lovely rows of books made our lunch even lovelier as it brought a comfortable homely feel to the the restaurant.
It would be a tad more relaxing if we felt like we didn’t need to rush ordering our courses & they were a little further apart.
Otherwise, our party of 6 enjoyed a very pleasant day with very nice food.
Not only a book lovers pinnacle example of divine perfection but a wonderful ambiance for a memorable holiday lunch with the family.
celebrating a birthday it was a lovely venue and experience. The cuvee really made a great accompaniment to the meal
Amazing setting, great service and excellent food. Could not ask for more. Thanks
Friendly service ....
Beutiful suuronding location.
Great food and good portion size meals
Lovely restaurant, very cold with the air conditioning ducts on the floor under the chairs, service was friendly but slow
Very good fresh food, didn't seem to be large portions but I only had entree & dessert & partner had main & dessert and we were both quite full, must have been the flat bread which was the size of a large pizza! Very friendly & efficient staff, would go back.
Service was exceptional food was delicious beautifully presented but
Only criticism was that we ordered fish of the day and price not on menu and price not told to us until we went to pay and were shocked at the price ! A small piece of fish risotto not high quality and a sprig if green lettuce ... it tasted great but not good value for $37 ..
Will return though ! It is a great place & wine !
