I took my husband there for a lovely Sunday birthday lunch and it did not disappoint. The food was outstanding, the service we could not fault and the overall atmosphere was lovely and cozy.
I would definitely recommend Bendooleys for a lovely weekend day trip.
Dining in front of the fireplace was an excellent experience.
Nothing to fault with the food apart from the generous portions.
Great place to eat with great service and ambiance
A bit too crowded to feel Covid safe especially the book area
A really special location, beautiful buildings, lovely atmosphere and great food.
Fantastic food, great service and nice ambience. Highly recommended!! Mind you, booking in advanced is a must as they are super busy.....
This place is a must for anyone visiting the Southern Highlands! The combination of the restaurant & book barn is genious. The waiter was so helpful in suggesting something that wasnt on the menu for my husband who has coeliac disease. The ambiance & setting is fantastic.
Loved the cellar door room and cosy log fire, but unfortunately the food wasn't great, nor were the wines.
Great drive in the country, to charge up your car's battery and your feelings as well. Great ambience, great food - and plenty of books to look at, We savoured all of these!
This is a great spot if you have visitors especially as you can book a wine tasting as well or browse the book shop! Our group shared salads and pizza which came out very quickly. Had to chase up our drinks though. A beautiful place to visit. Will come again.
Fantastic lunch! We shared a pizza, salad and fries which was so much food but everything was delicious.
a wonderful place to eat for a mid week lunch.
This place is a gem. It's the first time we've dined in the "cellar", overlooking the vines, and we really loved the atmosphere. The two wait staff who attended to us were wonderful. I can thoroughly recommend it.
Beautiful food and great location in the cellar room.
Great place to visit when in the area. The food it’s pretty good, it’s best to book as it gets quite busy
Always a great feed in a truely wonderful setting. Never fails to disappoint.
Outstanding service, food was delicious and beautiful surroundings.
Brilliant all round! Loved the food, the service the atmosphere and ofcourse the books :)
We were pleased with the COVID arrangements overall but disappointed we weren’t told that wine tasting required a booking so once we finished lunch we browsed the books, bought a couple and departed. Spending a further $500 at another winery instead, sorry. A little more proactivity from staff would have benefited us both. Tasting plate was nice and lamb pizza very good. A nice way to spend lunch in the highlands
Beautiful location and surrounds. The Service felt personal. We enjoyed a variety of dishes that were all flavoursome and beautifully presented. We also thoroughly enjoyed the Bendooley Estate Pinot Gris - so much that we bought more from the Bendooley Larder in Bowral. We appreciated that we did not feel rushed. A really lovely evening.
Wait staff just gossiped and chatted whilst we waited for service. We weren’t asked if we would like any drinks or to order for at least 15 minutes. Not sure why because they weren’t busy.
Relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Friendly staff and great food.
It took around 40 minutes to cook a medium steak and we had to prompt staff only to be informed that they had an issue with their printer (?)... it would have been good to be kept informed of the wait. Unfortunately, we had an appointment after lunch so had to rush and did not get to order dessert. Disappointing
After receiving rave reviews from friends and family we were so looking forward to our day at Bendooley’s to celebrate two 70th. Birthdays (mine being one of them).
Sadly, we were left quite “underwhelmed” by our experience.
The menu is more suited to a cafe, in my opinion, with only 4 mains to choose from, one being a burger and, at the other end of the scale, an eye fillet for $48.
I chose Osso Buco which was a substitute dish on that day and as such was not written up on the menu. It didn’t appear to have been cooked in the traditional tomato based sauce, in fact there was no sauce to speak of, and was served on polenta (which was not yellow in colour so didn’t look or taste like polenta).
Another dish that we were considering was the Roasted Barramundi but this was served with a red wine Risotto, which seems an odd accompaniment to white fish!!
I don’t know whether they have scaled down their menu due to current circumstances,
but it hardly seemed worth the drive down from Sydney.
Was a disappointing experience. The service from the waiters was not warm, quite the opposite. Not a friendly bunch of people. We had to wait around 30+ minutes between our entrees and desserts and was only informed there would be a delay when I went up to the waiter and asked what was going on. We had to ask multiple times for our kids and entree plates to be cleared, in the end we just did it ourselves. The service definitely let down this place, which is a shame because the food is quite decent.
Doubt we will be back unless there is a significant change to the service.
Wonderful food and great ambience to celebrate the special men in our lives. Loved the Father’s Day gift ,the roaring fire and professional service. Looking forward to creating more magical memories at this divine location.
Beautiful location. Food was delicious and service was wonderful.
Lovely location and food. Enjoyed our time for the fathers day luncheon. Thank you.
Amazing food and service on a busy Father’s Day. Could not fault them, such an enjoyable experience!
OUr group of 6 ate at The Stables and had the Share Table menu for Fathers Day. Generous amounts of food were provided and the drinks prices were reasonable. The outlook from the restaurant is a lovely panorama of countryside and the room itself is modern with good acoustic buffering to reduce noise levels.
We are likely to visit again when we are next in the Southern Highlands.
The stables was an enjoyable dining area for our Father’s Day lunch, the fire place and chandeliers were stunning features. The food was amazing, our favourites were the Atlantic salmon and Vanilla pana cotta. The service was well-timed, friendly and the special Father’s Day complementary gifts were a very thoughtful extra. Thank you Bendooley, I cannot wait to dine with you again.
We went fe a Father’s Day lunch which was lovely. The food came out quickly, the setting was beautiful, the service was quick and the waitstaff were friendly. We had our 4yo with us and they were great with him.
Wonderful experience. Food was amazing and the staff were even better - Thank you to Mark and the team for having us for an exceptional lunch!
Food was good, risotto was a bit too salty though. Lucky we went in early as there was a big line to get in for all the bookings. Not sure they were following the rules though.
We have dined here many times as we are local. The problem is they over stretch themselves when they have several functions on at the same time and the food and service fails. However when it’s good, it’s great and we always have a lovely time there!
Lunch amongst the books!
What an amazing find. Books and food my two favourite things.
Friendly staff, delicious food and wine all surrounded by an amazing assortment of old and new books!
As you would expect for a well known restaurant. No complaints.
Food is incredible, wine was lovely! Highly recommend for a really nice lunch
Excellent venue, service, ambience & good value food.
