Great food and tea selection, very generous serves,
Loved it. Amazing food, different tastes and very filling. We actually couldn’t finish all the desserts. Great value for money. A lovely atmosphere and not too loud. Perfect high tea experience!! It felt like we were in France!!
I don't usually leave reviews, but feel compelled to in this case. Considering the price being charged and the reputation of Emporium, I expected a more refined high tea experience than what we received. The wait staff did not know the menu, forgot 2 of our 7 guests' teas and the air conditioner was dripping on one of us throughout the high tea. The worst part for me as a vegan was paying the same price as my peers for a less impressive selection, with substantially smaller portion sizes. The non vegan food looked quite lovely, but I would not recommend this for vegans.
It was a lovely afternoon with girlfriends however I was disappointed with the food & service.
I felt there was too much sweet food and not enough savoury. The rice paper roll was very dry and tasteless. It needed something added.
There were not many in the café however I did need to request for the tea. There was no offer of tea choices available. Overall I did not consider this experience value for money.
I would be hesitant to recommend.
The service was very slow and we had to ask for water, tea, coffee several times. They ran out of teapots so we had to share. The food was ok but not great
The ambience was absolutely lovely, and the service was very friendly and nothing was a bother, however the food itself was very disappointing…
The rice paper roll had not been soaked enough so it was like eating plastic, there were no warm items and only one ribbon out of a whole sandwich – I would have preferred the whole sandwich was made available and remove the rice paper roll and the scroll. The sweets that were available were absolutely lovely however there were just too many and a selection of warm pastry’s maybe a quiche and more sandwiches (so more savoury) would be so much more appetising.
For the price of $65.00 p/p there should have been more on offer than what was delivered to our table, I told the ladies at the counter when I went to pay and they mentioned this feedback has been advised many times, Im just not sure why you would not listen to the customers as they will not come back, it’s such a beautiful location but the food is a real let down for the amount that you are paying and the booking was for a very good friends birthday so this was added disappointment.
I wouldn't recommend and I would head upstairs instead to the terrace... overall I give two stars and that is for the staff and the location.
I had a delightful High Tea and enjoyed the variety of sweet and savoury. As I don’t really enjoy sandwiches, the choices at the Emporium was delightful. I will definitely be taking my out of state visitors there from now on and anyone else !!!!
Meals were relish snd beautifully presented. Outstanding customer service.
Staff weren't as polite as I'd hoped they'd be. The space was fairly cramped and we were seated in the doorway. Each time a staff member walked past our chairs we were rudely shoved. We'd have happily moved to another table if asked or sat even closer to our table (if at all possible) if asked politely. We were celebrating a birthday and I was upset at having been treated so poorly. I had wanted to suggest it to one of our wait staff but I wasn't able to catch someones eye. We ordered tea and I was brought the wrong one, when we asked for a replacement, the waitress made out that it was a very difficult request to have it changed and seemed quite frustrated. The waitress that brought our meal wasn't able to walk us through what was being served. The poor young girl didn't seem to really know what to do so I passed her the menu to read out to us. She found the whole experience rather funny. The food was exceptional and the tea was delicious but I'd be hesitant to go back based on the way we were treated.
Belle Époque is an amazing experience. The staff are warm encoring and very friendly. I will be recommending to everyone.
We had a wonderful time at Belle Époque for their high tea. We had some dietary requirements that were met and everything was still so delicious. Would highly recommend
Disappointing breakfast. The hollandaise sauce was cold, the croque monsieur was tiny and the coffee very average. Would not go back.
While the room beautiful the service was slow and waiters hard to hear. The savoury scroll was so oily which was disappointing as there really wasn’t many savoury items .
A beautiful experience for our family get together. The High Tea was delicious, with a great variety of goodies.
Had the vegan high tea, which was excellent. Some of the items were a bit of a stretch (a hollowed out cucumber with beetroot and sesame paste was a bit odd), but the menu had clearly been designed by someone very creative and it was way better than other vegan menus I've had in the past. The aquafaba pavlova was especially delicious. Service was lovely and accommodating, there is a range of tempting tea blends, and the room is very nicely designed. A lovely spot for a date or catch up!
Lovely High tea, delicious food and great value for money.
Beautiful crisp salads and a to die for dessert range.
Very good great food good service but the online booking was missed and they were not expecting us - we had booked early the same day
I was hoping for the atmosphere to be a little more luxurious than the cafe feel we entered, however the food was delicious, especially the savory items. The staff were always happy and helpful when approached but we were not asked when we would like our tea or if we wanted more bubbles ( a surprise given they would benefit from further sales.) We appreciated the boxes to take home our left overs, needless to say the servings per person were very generous. I did enjoy the experience despite the comments above.
Fabulous experience! I took my fourteen-year-old granddaughter here for a late birthday present. There had been a slight hiccough with the booking but they didn't miss a beat and catered for our dietary requirements without any problem. The service was friendly, without being too familiar; nothing was too much trouble.
And the food...! Excellent quality, heaps of it - although each portion was dainty and, therefore, easy to eat. I was able to introduce my granddaughter to Earl Grey tea with lemon. She loved it. She has a sophisticated palate already, and her favourite morsel was a beetroot cracker with hummous and toasted chickpeas. Wonderful!
Amazing high tea and service. I would definitely recommend
We really enjoyed our High Tea at Belle Epoque on a Tuesday afternoon. We had personalised service, being the only High Tea booking. There were other cafe customers. The pastry chef visited us to personally explain the assortment of fine treats. The food was delicious, with a selection of unusual and very tasty items. The bottomless tea and coffee was appreciated by all. The only minor disappointment is the location on street level. The Emporium is such an impressive hotel that a level with a view would have made our day.
Very basic breakfast, lacking a few elements and no table service. I ordered a fresh juice which came out 'freshly' bottled, and the scrambled eggs were served on top of one small piece of bread with hard butter to the side.
Decor is nice, staff were friendly. Drinks took a while to come out. Food was delicious but quite small (serving size) for the price.
Really loved the ambience. Just found the hot water for our tea was not hot enough and our eggs and toast were not hot.
Amazing food and great service. Really went out of their way to make our visit for my daughter’s 21st birthday celebration quite special ... thank you 💓
