Mostly very good. Had no Cointreau or Triple sec. that should never happen. Otherwise very good.
This was my first time here. I brought a date, so I just hoped for the best. The reviews are pretty accurate, though. It’s a really nice venue with a gorgeous waterfront (even in the dead of fall/winter). The food was amazing. The service was amazing. The date went very well, obviously. I highly recommend. The ambience is classy and low key.
Food quality has gone down. Wine selection horrible. House Chardonnay is cupcake a 8.00 bottle of wine. At the table the first bottle we ordered they were out of. The second bottle also out of. Finally the third bottle they had. I will say they cut the price on this bottle to match the price of the wine we wanted. The food was at best average. I ordered escargot and it was tasteless. Four people and four different entrees, and none of us were happy with our food. I’ve been to this place at least 4-5 time before but this was by far the most disappointing. I will have to think twice before returning
First time back since new renovation and ownership.
Great place for an excellent dinner and good service.
Going back soon
Fantastic food in a wonderful setting
Food was good but not outstanding. Desert portions were small.
Unfortunately, Bella Vie is more concerned with making money than pleasing their customers. They utilize every square inch of floor space to fit as many dining tables as humanly possible. We were seated next to a serving cart and only a few feet from the bar. Constant noise and foot traffic past our table throughout our dinner is not my idea of an enjoyable meal. Although the food is decent they cannot be considered a fine dining establishment when they treat paying cutomers like this! We won't be back anytime soon!
Food is excellent and the owner is always very welcoming .
I had a smoked cod appetizer and the fresh linguini with seafood. My wife had the baked clams and the lasagna. The smoked cod was thinly sliced raw cod that if you like lox you will like that appetizer. I really liked it. The homemade linguini with seafood was very good, although it was a little saltier than I would make it but it was still good. I did ask for the Fra Diavolo sauce with it and theirs was VERY spicy. It was much more than just red sauce with a lot of crushed pepper. The shrimp, clams, calamari and mussels in the dish were not overcooked and they shelled everything for you. It was obvious that even though there were no shells, that the clams and mussels were not from cans. My wife did not care for the baked clams. She said there was too much breadcrumb and not enough clam. She did like the lasagna however. Lasagna is something restaurants usually do not do well so that is an accomplishment. For dessert I had the tartuffo which was fine. My wife had the chocolate crembule which she liked. Now for the rest of the place. I made a reservation through Open Table, but they didn't even ask me for it. We were seated in what looked like an outdoor area turned into an indoor area with a tent and heavy drapes and carpeting on the floor. There were portable baseboard looking heaters. All this sounds terrible, but it really wasn't bad at all. Others were seated in the main room. I didn't mind being where they put us. It was actually quieter. The waiter was friendly and attentive. We did have to remind him that my wife had asked for a glass of wine after we had finished the bottle of water they had originally served us. Re parking, I didn't see a parking lot but we found street parking fairly easily. Maybe there is a lot but I didn't see it. A man named Mike, who was very friendly, came to our table as we were leaving offering us a free drink. We did not stay but that was nice. Perhaps he was the maitre'd or one of the owners. I don't know. Anyway, we will go back
Food was delicious- we waited a while to get the food but otherwise we had a great time
Always wonderful food and service. We're moving out of state and I will miss this gem.
Staff was amazingly attentive and so very nice! Food was delicious. Menu had so many different choices. Everything was fantastic! Location is beautiful. Would definitely go back again!
Quiet. Romantic. Excellent food and service. Beautiful lakeside view
We love the ambiance, the romantic setting. The service is good. We want Bella Vie to succeed. But, the chef must be off on Mondays, because the food is no longer good on Mondays. First, they quit buying delicious bread and started serving stale rolls. Today, the broccoli soup was bitter and disappointing. But, my favorite dish, the Veal Milanese was awful. The veal cutlet was soggy & dreadful. I do not believe the chef cooked these meals. We dined late. The coffee was hours old.
The restaurant offers a beautiful view of the lake. At lunch the restaurant is quiet and serene. The lobster bisque is usually outstanding; today it was only fair. I don’t think it was prepared by the same chef.. The bread, which is usually great, was also disappointing. They usually offer fine Tuscan bread. The veal Milanese was outstanding. The chicken paillard was fair. The Italian cheesecake is delicious, but pricey at $10 a slice. They include coffee with their two course lunch
Mike is a great host ... compliments to the chef for a varied menu...great staff...reasonable prices...lovely view ... can’t ask for more than that! We will be back!
Service has gotten more challenged.
Everything was fantastic from the food, service and ambiance. We had the fried zucchini salad, Frito misto,l gnocchi with filet mignon tips in creme sauce, and pollo alla diavola. White Sangria delicious as well as specialty cocktail. Desserts were delicious as well Napoleon, lava cake, banana/blueberry bread pudding with gelato and banana flambe. So impressed with service and genuine hospitality of owner and chef. We will be back. Well worth a visit.
Chef Fabrizio continues to put forth wonderful meals from appetizers to desserts. A place to frequent or visit on special occasions.
Love the food, service and atmosphere here. I had chicken milanese, it was real on the menu and they changed it for me. Was delicious. Love the view, request a window seat
This was my second visit to Bella Vie within a week. I was curious if my first lunch was just a fluke at being so excellent. Well I was not disappointed. The Salmon was fantastic. And this time I tried the Sangria which was light and refreshing. I went with 2 different people this week and they couldn't stop raving over it. Mike, the owner was warm and welcoming and even treated us to a delicious banana bread pudding when he heard it was my birthday. The atmosphere is wonderful overlooking a beautiful serene and tranquil lake. It is my new favorite place to go!
Food was delicious and the service was great. The view over the lake was beautiful.
Absolutely lovely. The service was very personalized. The owner (or manager) was so gracious and on top of everything. Food was great. Ambiance was awesome. Perfect way to unwind at the end of the week.
When I first walked into Bella Vie my first reaction was "Wow...what a beautiful view of the lake." We sat next to the window. I had the price fix lunch which was salmon and done to perfection with a delicious sauce over sautéed spinach. My friend had the tomato soup which was top notch and the tuna. We both shared dessert. What a wonderful dining experience ...service was great . I will definitely be back.
I made reservations for my 13th wedding anniversary. I had a surprise dinner and serenade for my husband. I called multiple times and spoke to Erin, who was wonderful, about making sure that they could play a song on their central speaker, and that my friend, who was singing for mu husband, was taken care of. We had a great time. Everyone was kind and helpful, the food was amazing, and the service even better. Bella Vie will definitely become one of my favorite restaurants.
It was overall a great experience. The food was very good. I got the squid ink pasta dish, which I finished. I never finish my meals so that says a lot! Everyone else I was with thoroughly enjoyed the evening and meal as well. The Spanish octopus was so tender and delicious. The cheese board was really great as well. It was pretty noisy in the restaurant but it was a nice environment with a lot going on!
The view of Lake Lawrence added to the relaxed atmosphere at Bella Vie. My wife and I had the Veal Milanese: it was served with mixed greens, very tender, and done to perfection. The portions were also quite ample and the staff were very attentive to diners. Music and songs provided by PJ & Casey made it a festive Friday evening for us. It is truly a place for great dining!
My wife enjoyed her meal but the two things I went there for were on the on line menu but not available. My steak was over cooked, said cause the bacon wrapping was raw. The potatoes were like steak fries cut into small pieces and refried, not much effort there. The best part was the sautéed spinach. Clams for my appetizer were about the size of a pea! Beautiful views however.
Went for Sunday Brunch. Food was very good and the service was also very good. The ambiance was outstanding!
Mediocre food. Lovely setting and great service and lovely views of the lake but the food missed the mark. Olives and bread were good. Spanish octopus was watery and tasteless. Gnocchi with veal Raghu was excellent. Black bass was not great. Too much tomato sauce. All it needed was to be pan fried and served over some greens.
A great night at Bella Vie. Food was very good. The view and the ambiance terrific. We were treated like family. Went outside to their lakeside patio and enjoyed after dinner drinks. The owner sat with us and made us feel like family friends. The kind of place that makes you feel like special guests.
We arrived at 2:20 for a 2:30 reservation. We came for LUNCH.
The very charming waitress gave us DINNER menus. We told her we came for lunch. She said lunch ends at 2:00.
Forcing a dinner menu at 2:30 is a SHAMELESS way to get bigger checks. Every restaurant serves lunch until 3:00 PM.
We want Bella Vie to succeed because it’s on our corner and the food is good. But, we always go out for lunch around 2:20, and now we won’t be going to Bella Vie. We enjoyed what we ordered. The short ribs were exceptional. The lasagne was good. The bread is outstanding. But, we did NOT want dinner. We wanted lunch.
This was our second visit and confirmed our first impression: this is an excellent restaurant with broad enough food choices to please all. The salads are enough for two people, the food is delicious - each person in our party of 4 had a different entree, we tasted each other’s and loved each of them. We did the same with the desserts and would happily have traded with the others’. The waitstaff is attentive, helpful and very pleasant. We’ve dined on Sunday evening each time, and with a less heavy attendance the noise level was very comfortable. We’ll be back next week to turn a new group of friends onto this hidden gem.
My husband and I celebrated our one year anniversary at Bella Vie and the restaurant did not disappoint! Everything was delicious and I highly recommend ordering the short rib and gnocchi!
We have enjoyed dining at Bella Vie several times in the past few months. The quality of the food is outstanding, and the chef made special accomodations for one of our guests. The service was acceptable, though a bit disjointed since we had three people attending to us throughout the meal. Overall we had a wonderful experience!
Great food, great value in a picturesque setting. You won't be disappointed.
Bella Vie helpfully accommodated several of us for a small birthday celebration on the outside patio. We were the only ones seated out there, so it was nice to have that space to ourselves during our dinner, especially on a nice summer evening. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive throughout our meal, and were great about letting us bring in a birthday cake, which they completely helped serve. From drinks to appetizers and to the entrees, every person in our dinner party loved all of the food that they ordered.
The food was outstanding but the restaurant is somewhat seedy even though it's in a beautiful location. The interior could seriously use some updating
