About
Excellent in all respects. Can't fault it' Every time I went there it was good. But I don't know why they are using a website like this. I would rather just deal directly with the hotel
Nice location, varied menu available, comprehensive bar options, appears to be able to accommodate varying size groups, including children. A table alongside the children's' play area has some drawbacks with constant traffic and drafts from the door opening & closing.
I always enjoy a night at the Belair. It’s clean , food is good and varied including vegan options. Staff are friendly and organised.
Lovely atmosphere, tasty food, but small portion of lamb salad- order a side or entree with it.
Was lovely :) asked for a lovely table and got a beautiful table :) place was packed for a Thursday night aswell which means you know it's good. :)
Table Clearance service was abit slow and we had to ask staff for side plates and kids ice creams
Overall excellent food supported by excellent service.
The lamb in the Marinated Lamb Salad was a tad gristly in parts, but all other dishes were superb.
Ambience and surroundings are very good. The wine list is broad and has some very good choices. The food overall is good but I asked for my steak to be medium-rare and I received a medium to nearly well done (was still tender though). Will come to the Belair again but will order the steak rare.
Always a great atmosphere. Family friendly and a great playground.
It is great for families with kids in the Bistro, but because of that it was extremely noisy. Fortunately there was a spare booth and we were able to move to the lounge part of the bistro. Overall very nice meal and much quieter in the booth.
The only issue we had is we ordered 2 iced tea's, only and one. Also ran out of apple juice.
I booked a table for 10 on a Thursday night. The service was very slow; the last person to arrive and order got his meal first, over an hour after the rest of us had ordered. The other meals then arrived, but not quickly after the first one. It was very busy that night with some other large groups, and there were lots of screeching kids, but you expect that in a family-style pub. But you also expect faster service of the pub-style meals. It's just as well we were all happy to catch up and chat, but then people started wondering where the meals were. However I'd go back to the Belair because it's a local old favourite and the food was good, but I'd need to be sure you'd lifted your game with the service please.
The food was very nice as was the service. Wonderful if you have children. The outside playground and inside playroom are great. Would be nice to see a few more things for the kids to do in the inside room.
The best meals we had ever had at the Belair......I had the Veal and my husband the salmon. Both were fantastic meals....wonderful flavour combinations, generous proportions and well presented.
Usually I love the Belair Hotel however they have changed the kids menu and the nuggets are not nice. Very processed and horrible taste. I go to Belair for the kids to play and sadly the kids did not eat there meals and when I tried the nugget I can understand why.
We love the Belair hotel. Great child friendly bistro with great playground. We come here often
We've been to the Belair Hotel lots of times and always been very impressed. It's one place where we can go with our two young children and know that all of us will have a nice time. The food has always been great and the play areas are fantastic for families. Unfortunately, this time we were not impressed with the food we received and it seems like the standard has dropped significantly. My daughter was really looking forward to the spaghetti Bolognese she would normally have which had been replaced on the menu with a very average spaghetti in tomato sauce. My son had chicken nuggets which really tasted quite unpleasant and he didn't eat. I think an attempt had been made to 'hide' veggies inside but it just left them with an unpleasant after taste. A nice piece of chicken breast with veggies on the side would have been so much better. My husband and I had chicken parmis which were fine, but nothing special, pretty average 'pub grub'. All in all, disappointing, we've had much better on previous visits and I won't be rushing back this time. Such a pity!
I was disappointed spare ribs no longer available.
The food was ok, not sure if the burger was 200g beef pattie. They need another staff member taking orders. That was a bit frustrating. The young girl was very short. She needed support.
Venue is excellent. Meals are hit and miss sometimes though.
Great pub atmosphere, great food and plenty to entertain the kids!
Lovely venue, views were nice. Food was lovely and portions were generous. No table service had you waiting in line to get served for a while. Toilets did not smell good, possibly not good cleaning products. i would recommend this venue to others.
Always great meals. Excellent facilities for the children.
Menu was interesting. Food good... but long wait for deserts
Outstanding food. Outstanding service! The crispy skin Atlantic Salmon was amazing in particular.
Enjoyable evening, food was really nice but as it was fully booked, it was terribly noisy and hard to hear each other speak. Otherwise very good.
Well presented and tasty meals, enjoyed the new menu, will go again
Hi JulieM, thank you for your feedback. Glad you enjoyed, look forward to seeing you again soon.
I think quality of food is good however I don't feel it is value for money - portion size has reduced and I had the eggplant parmiagiana that came with no vegetables or salad. The options on the menu have also reduced particularly for starters.
The 15 minute wait in the queue, which is situated right at the main entry, so absolute chaos with people trying to order or enter/exit the venue. What a design fault!
Paid $34- for a meal and had to get up and wait in a very slow moving queue for 15 mins ... really?? How about table service to alleviate the chaotic busyness of everyone trying to get their meal orders in.
It was a Sunday night so the cheapest staff on .... all very young and inexperienced ... not their fault.
Food was ok but the wait to order it overshadowed any hope of enjoying the night.
Manager needs a rocket... 3bar staff serving no-one and 1 poor guy taking food orders. Told me it was so kitchen doesn’t get “slammed” .... is that the customers problem???
Increase vegetarian options. Add some kangaroo- a sustainable, lean, pure Australian meat.
Food was slow to arrive and the steaks were overcooked - medium rare had just the slightest pink in the middle. It's a shame because it's such a nice room and the extra attention they pay to the menu and the plating (as well as the price point) deserves better.
We had a Father's Day lunch with 2 Grandchildren. It was a great evening, food was very good with efficient service, it was a little noisy but that was expected on a family evening such as Father's Day
A very pleasurable lunch with an old friend. Staff very friendly and efficient. Food yummy. Will be back again soon!
Was a bit surprised that the quacamole served with the children’s nachos was quite spicy.
The meals are amazing at the Belair hotel. The staff are friendly and attentive. Great place to go with the family.
We received our appetiser within a reasonable time. The main course took almost 2 hours and we had to take it with us. Disappointing.
All our meals were delicious ..wagu schnitzel, steak perfectly cooked med -rare, fish yellow curry . just a bit on noisy side , families with young children .. not my favourite !
Food was lovely, ambience was great, we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and will come again.
I hadn't been to the Belair Hotel for years so I didn't know what to expect. I chose it by searching 'kid-friendly pubs in the hills' and it came highly recommended. I was still surprised to discover a full indoor/outdoor play area, and kids' meal deals including a range of desserts and drinks. So with the kids sorted, onto the grown-up stuff. The selection of craft beers is outstanding. Little Bang and Modus Operandi brews on the menu certainly made my day, and there was nothing wrong with the wine list either. The food though - wow. I had a special of the day - beef ribs slow-cooked in a Jack Daniels marinade and served with smashed potatoes and buttered broccolini. It was huge, and I couldn't quite finish it, but if I could go back to it now I would. It was AMAZING. Two of the diners on my table had salt and pepper squid and were both very happy, and other had a chicken burger which was loaded with deliciously crunchy fried chicken. The kids all had nuggets and chips, served with their choice of Pop Top. Sure they're not the healthiest drink on the market, and they're environmentally appalling - but they're super convenient, and when you can just say 'one of each' when ordering for three kids, that does make the choice easy. The kids' desserts was another highlight: usually all you've got to choose from is different toppings for your soft serve; at the Belair you've got at least three options. We had two of those selections at our table - Frog in a Pond and two chocolate brownies - and it was all demolished. The only downside of the whole experience was the noise, but the bistro is intended for families with kids so it's expected - and in our case it was my kids making the noise (sorry everyone else). Overall - hugely recommended. Not cheap, but excellent value for a lunch that kids can tolerate for more than an hour.
Overall good . But , VERY NOISY. Food was good but cold on arrival.
