All our meals were delicious ..wagu schnitzel, steak perfectly cooked med -rare, fish yellow curry . just a bit on noisy side , families with young children .. not my favourite !
Food was lovely, ambience was great, we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and will come again.
I hadn't been to the Belair Hotel for years so I didn't know what to expect. I chose it by searching 'kid-friendly pubs in the hills' and it came highly recommended. I was still surprised to discover a full indoor/outdoor play area, and kids' meal deals including a range of desserts and drinks. So with the kids sorted, onto the grown-up stuff. The selection of craft beers is outstanding. Little Bang and Modus Operandi brews on the menu certainly made my day, and there was nothing wrong with the wine list either. The food though - wow. I had a special of the day - beef ribs slow-cooked in a Jack Daniels marinade and served with smashed potatoes and buttered broccolini. It was huge, and I couldn't quite finish it, but if I could go back to it now I would. It was AMAZING. Two of the diners on my table had salt and pepper squid and were both very happy, and other had a chicken burger which was loaded with deliciously crunchy fried chicken. The kids all had nuggets and chips, served with their choice of Pop Top. Sure they're not the healthiest drink on the market, and they're environmentally appalling - but they're super convenient, and when you can just say 'one of each' when ordering for three kids, that does make the choice easy. The kids' desserts was another highlight: usually all you've got to choose from is different toppings for your soft serve; at the Belair you've got at least three options. We had two of those selections at our table - Frog in a Pond and two chocolate brownies - and it was all demolished. The only downside of the whole experience was the noise, but the bistro is intended for families with kids so it's expected - and in our case it was my kids making the noise (sorry everyone else). Overall - hugely recommended. Not cheap, but excellent value for a lunch that kids can tolerate for more than an hour.
Overall good . But , VERY NOISY. Food was good but cold on arrival.
Found the chips bit cold and sweet was not warm enough
Waited 15mins after ordering food, then to ask where the drinks were. Waitress forgot. Then waited 35 mins for food. Service need to be more efficient and faster. Service quality needs to be as equal to good food.
The food was fantastic, but our food at lunchtime on a Tuesday took 40 minutes to come out (There bistro tables were only 30% full, there were six of us and we only ordered burgers and the warm Mexican bowls.)
Our request for a quiet table was acknowledged which was appreciated.
I had the steak which was cooked to perfection and very tasty. My husband unfortunately was not that impressed with his meal, beer battered flounder. Maybe just a personal choice but not keen on the taste of the fish, a dish he normally enjoys. The children's meal was ok value, but the usual boring standard selection.
Hi KathyB. It is great to hear you enjoyed your steak but I'm sorry to hear your husband didn't enjoy his fish. We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback.
the Belair is a local that i have been too many times, the only feedback is the noise level is so great its hard to hear your conversation
Thank you for taking the time to pass on your feedback AmyJ. The noise is definitely an issue that comes with having a busy bistro, but we are certainly looking into ways to improve it.
I would recommend for lunch as it is not so busy and noisy. If you are choosing the ‘roast’ I would make enquiries first. Our pork roast was not pork freshly carved - looked more like large chips and was tough.
Enough variety in the regular menu to keep us coming back for more. Online booking system worked a treat. Genuine care and courtesy from all staff that served.
Thank you for your feedback AdrienneK, we are glad to hear you enjoying coming to our hotel. We hope to see you again soon.
I recall an old Belair Hotel with ambience and a place to have a comversation
Quite some time ago but I haven't been back for a while. We travelled from Glenelg for the experience. Far too much noise. Kids running about. Not for me. I understand that you are now catering to families. A different clientelle. I wish you well but will not be returning.
Friday night at 6pm - Too hard to find a carpark and too noisy to talk . Good place for people who have families maybe .
Food was OK - staff were reasonably friendly and helpful.
Prices are on the more expensive side for your standard pub food.
Hi GeorgaH, we appreciate your feedback and hope to see you again soon.
Very pleased with the food quality and range at the belair. I am very picky and i was very happy with every aspect of the hotel. I will be back. It was a tad noisy but it had a very cosy vibe, really enjoyed it there!
Hi Maya, we are very glad to hear you enjoyed your experience at our hotel. Thank you for your wonderful feedback, we look forward to seeing you again soon. :)
Food was delicious and we enjoyed the window view over the valley
Thank you for your feedback. The view is certainly something special. Look forward to seeing you soon.
Highly impressed with the Vegan only menu, we had the pizza & gnocchi & both dishes were delicious. Will definitely be back to try all the vegan selection. Staff were friendly and service was quick.
Hi Tamm, thank you for your feedback. We certainly pride ourselves on our vegetarian and vegan options. We hope to see you again soon.
Fabulous place especially if you are bringing young children. The pavlova was by far the stand out for me!! I can't stop thinking about how delicious it was. Servers were very friendly. The place is furnished beautifully and looks like a lot of thought and effort has gone into it. Very clean! Fair pricing. We drove 40 minutes and it was well worth it. Thanks for the beautiful dining experience! :)
The service was fantastic
When our meals were taking a while a bar attendant apologize for the wait and offered a free drink and little cake.
The food was worth waiting for and great service.
Always a meal of a high standard and the kids love it! Service is always excellent. Thank you!
The Belair Hotel was really lovely and the service was excellent
Hi LisaW, thank you for your feedback, its great to hear you enjoyed your experience at our hotel. We hope to see you again soon.
Most of the staff were excellent I just thought a few of them could have been a bit more acknowledging when we first walked in & when we left. Table service staff were very good, nothing was too much trouble for her. My guess is the young guy taking the orders is new!
Hi RubyTuesday, thank you for your feedback. We pride ourselves on customer service so all feedback is greatly appreciated to be sure of the continual growth of our team. We hope to see you again soon.
I ordered the crispy salmon. It was so salty I couldn’t finish it all. Very disappointing for $30. The meals took ages to come out.
Hi KarinaG, I am sorry to hear of your disappointing experience at our hotel. I will be sure this gets passed on to the kitchen team. Thank you for taking the time to pass on your feedback.
Fantastic service even for a busy Saturday night. The food came out fast and hot. A lovely meal with great friends. We will be back.
Hi KylieY. Thank you for your feedback, we are glad to hear your enjoyed your experience at our hotel and look forward to seeing you again soon.
The food was good and the playground is great for kids. The first time I came it was great but the second time the food took a long time to come out as did the kids dessert that I had to go up and ask about twice. They charged $10 for bringing our own cake and then ruined the surprise by bringing the plates for the cake first before bringing the cake
Hi JennaW, I am sorry to hear that your second time around with us did not meet your expectations. I will be sure to follow up with the staff in regards to our procedure in bringing cakes out, I am sorry that your surprise was ruined in this way. We appreciate your feedback.
It did take a long time for our meals to come out. Staff were very lovely..helpful. Polite. Noisy...but that is normal when 1/2 the foom is kids lol.
The quality of the food was poor. The use of Panko crumbs spoiled dishes-it made them 'gluggy'. It was questionable whether the fish used for "beer battered Flounder" was in fact genuine Flounder-it didn't taste like it. Also the range of 'soft' drinks available was very poor. No Coco Cola was available - only Pepsi!! We have been to the Belair many times an enjoyed it, but certainly not this time.
Great place to have a dinner date or family night out.
Lovely, helpful staff. Great playground for the kids.
Food was not as good as when we had a private function in october
Pros - Good service & good value meals with regard to portion size for the money. Excellent play area for the kids. Nice comfy lounges and seating. Obviously recently renovated very nicely throughout.
Cons - Insufficient space between regular tables...not a big person, but kept getting knocked into by anyone walking past.
Way too noisy. Couldnt have a conversation with someone on table immediately opposite without almost yelling. Admittedly, yes it was a busy period, but even when restraunt thinned out below 1/2 full and we moved to the lounge area, it was still too loud to chat without raising voices. Need to invest in some soundproofing or noise dampening.
Overall a nice place, decent service & a good feed, but wont be going back as too loud & didnt enjoy being packed in like sardines at the regular table seated area.
The booking was fast and easy. We asked for a table within close proximity to the children's playground which we got. Service was fine. Our only issue was that the food wasn't great. Ribs were very dry and salty. Still, its a great place to relax where the kids can play and the adults can enjoy a beverage. We'll be back.
Hubby got a wagyu schnitty & i had the lamb kofta starter with a side of roast veg as my mains - & because it was Tuesday my sons calamari meal was free!
Everything was perfectly cooked, presented and seasoned.
Three full, happy tummies 😁 @ Belair Hotel
Great spot for lunch with girlfriends and the seniors meals are great.
Waited 45 minutes for a cold steak, which cost $35 was only 300g and a lot of rind and fat.
Hi Elizabeth1, I am sorry to hear of your disappointing experience with us. We hold high expectations when it comes to the quality of food so I will be sure to pass this on the kitchen team.We appreciate your feedback.
Nice food, good service and a great spot for the kids to stay occupied in the play area and tv room.
Hi JessieC, we are glad to hear you enjoyed your experience at he hotel. Thank you for passing on your feedback.
Met up with friends from interstate for lunch. The meals were a good size and very tasty. We have children and they were kept entertained by the playground and chill zone. Highly recommended 👌👌
Great Place to go if you have kids, plenty for them to do and can easily keep an eye on them from the table. Really nice food
Had a lovely meal here, very filling. A little disappointed that some regular soft drinks were not available and a sign saying which meals were not available behind the till would have been helpful too. Food when served was nice and hot. Definitely no compkaints about the size of servings either.
Was great meals only thing that needs improving is how long it takes to get kids deserts. We always order kids meals with drink and ice-cream when we tell the staff we would like the kids deserts we have to follow up with staff as it took longer than half an hour. This has occurred in last 2 times we have gone.
