We heard good things about beetlecat, and decided to try for brunch. I don’t know if they were “off their game” because they aren’t used to working in the morning or what, but the service was terrible. I left 2 stars for service because our server wasn’t rude, just non existent and not knowledge at all about their menu. She had to “check on” a couple of basic things we asked in reference to the menu, disappearing for 10 minutes before returning with an answer. Never checked on us to make sure food was good, didn’t even drop off the food or clear us. I was kind of surprised to see someone with such little knowledge of the restaurant and menu being thrown on the floor. Even basic practices of service, especially in a renowned restaurant, were lacking such as making sure we had water and enjoyed everything and didn’t need anything...? It seems that this problem stems from management, as the manager did not even know what she was putting down in front of us and misspoke our orders. Maybe an honest mistake, but she seemed flippant and clueless as she wandered around the restaurant back waiting. We were offered other people’s food twice. It was just an absolute mess. With that said, food was great, not over the top, but we enjoyed it. Good flavor and enough spice for us spice-loving folks. We had the catfish, the chorizo hash, and 4 donuts.
I had the lobster roll and it was VERY very GOOD!
Wonderful place to eat. My wife and I came here on our first date, and we loved it ever since. The Lobster Roll were phenomenal and everything on the menu was great.
Atmosphere was very cool! The brunch menu was decent.
We had an awesome birthday dinner! The folks at beetlecat even brought us shots and a birthday desert with a candle. We love this place.
We loved it! Service was excellent. So much fun!
Food was great. Service was outstanding!
Everything was amazing! Especially loved the shrimp!
It was our first time at Beetlecat during a visit from Los Angeles and we will certainly be back. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding! We sat downstairs on a Monday which was quiet. Our server, Cam was a rockstar! We were so impressed with his menu knowledge and professionalism. When he told us he was relatively new to the restaurant, we couldn't believe it. He was accompanied by a trainee was lovely too. We ordered the crab fried rice, lobster roll, leeks, salmon poke, kale salad and green beans. Our favorites were the lobster roll, kale salad and leeks.
We had high hopes for Beetlecat. Two people ordered the collard (fish cheeks) and it was horrible -- the entire head of the fish instead of just the cheeks and the fish tasted old. Two people ordered the short rib lo mein and it was sickenly sweet. The server was reluctant to bring new silver and napkins, among other things. It was a very disappointing experience -- a night where you're just glad you're with friends who could laugh it off.
celebrated our anniversary, and they made it really special! recommend for a special occasion. food was brought out quickly which was nice, but would have liked just a little more spacing between apps and entree because the table was small and didn't fit everything easily.
Best meal I've had since I moved here last fall. Will definitely be back!!!
The aesthetic of the restaurant and food selection is something i would recommend. The customer service was bad. Food didnt come out in a timely manner. We had to ask for everything because our service would not ask if we needed anything. I ordered coffee and got buttermilk instead of creamer twice. The third i finally got half and half after asking another server. I finally got to sip my coffee after my whole meal was basically finished. My husbands drink refill came until the end of his meal.
It was awesome!
Overall, the food was delicious, but the service was extremely poor. It will be our first and last time at beetlecat, as there are MANY places with the same atmosphere/cuisine in Atlanta with far better customer service and appreciation.
We arrived five minutes late for a reservation for 2 and was made to feel like I broke a cardinal sin by doing so. Nevertheless, the place was pretty busy and I understand being an inconvenience and having to wait a few minutes for a table. Our plan was to order a few dishes and 2/3 cocktails each before heading out for the night. I realized this would be more difficult than I imagined as it took the waiter a good 20 minutes to bring our drinks. 20 minutes later we got all of our food, all at once. The waiter never returned to ask us if we wanted another drink or to check in on the food situation. My date and I both came to the conclusion he had a standoffish attitude throughout the duration. When the waiter finally returned we just wanted the check so we could find other means to enjoy the night.
Was there with a group of friends and we loved every bit of it. Great atmosphere, great food and Ross did an outstanding job as our server.
Great spot good food
The food was exceptional!!! We will definitely return.
Doughnut brunch is a thing, and Beetlecat does it the best!! If you’re also looking for some interesting drinks, they have something for everyone.
We celebrated a 30th birthday and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel special. The food was incredible, the lobster roll specifically was amazing, and the drinks were delicious. I definitely recommend this brunch for any special occasion.
First time at the donut brunch. Have had many great meals at Beetlecat, this was one of them. I had the lobster roll AGAIN and was very happy with my decision. Bc it comes in a roll and not a bun it looks deceptively small but it was a great amount. I shared perfectly cooked bacon (add on) with my friend as well as a plain jane donut. The inside is super soft and doughy.
I wasn't aware that the regular menu would be different from the Valentine's day menu. My date and I were a bit disappointed that there weren't a lot of options on Valentine's night. We would probably have to visit the restaurant on another day to get the full experience.
We made a reservation for Valentine’s Day but online it didn’t mention an alternate menu for the occasion. The menu was very limited and didn’t have that much seafood at a seafood restaurant our server was great but we really wanted to enjoy the regular menu and wish we’d known ahead of time.
Great service, had to eat on lower level where there was drunk people hanging around the dinner tables. Wouldn’t come back for a romantic date but a great hangout with friends. Moved our table twice. Good food.
Super expensive and very, VERY small portions. Had to go out to eat after eating here.
It was Valentine’s Day when we went, so it was pre fixe but could get oysters and the lobster roll. It was worth it all! We had lemon tart, shrimp cocktail, oysters, lobster bisque, veal meatball, short rib, dark chocolate brownie and a pear Riesling sorbet. Highly recommend!
Valentines Day... great spot... different than the normal way to celebrate! Wife loved it! EGG WHITE AMARETTO SOURS
Prix Fixe Valentine’s Day meal was uninspired. First course - Spinach Tart was the highlight. Downhill from there. Veal meatball was cold. Tuna had not much flavor. Dessert for forgettable. Everything felt rushed and disorganized.
My total bill was about $211. I really needed to use a $100 visa gift card and my server made up multiple reasons why it “wouldn’t work”. First time she came back with the card she said “this isn’t working I’m so sorry, I’ll keep trying” second time she came back “my manager said for these cards it’ll only take $80 and then a $20 fee is required for tip, let me keep trying” third time she came back “I’m sorry guys I spoke to my manager and we just don’t accept these” I asked her to give us a minute. I called to verify the card is activated and that it CAN be used for this. She then says “let me try to take it in multiple payments of $5” the last and final time she returned she said “it took $75! I wouldn’t advise tipping on this card”
CLEARLY this server didn’t want me to use this gift card thinking I wasn’t going to give her a full tip...when I had every intention to tip normally. I’m so disappointed in her and how no management bothered to come by and apologize for the trouble. This was classless and ruined our first (and last) experience here.
A lot of confusion with service staff initially. Things got better though.
The food was not great, but I think it was because of the set menu for V-day. For $187, I expect exceptional food. I’d like to try it on a normal day. Our server was great though.
Surprisingly wonderful. Loved the happy hour oysters.
The manager on duty and staff were amazing. Great food, great customer service! I’ll continue coming to this restaurant!
Best oysters ever!!
You might want to save your money and find another restaurant to spend your coin at... The food was just okay, and the service was worse. Despite having a late reservation, the place was still pretty packed, and our server seemed a little frazzled. It took 15 minutes for our server to come and take our orders. When my drink came is a broken glass, it took 20 minutes to be replaced. After our stew came, we asked for spoons to eat it with and had to remind our server about them a solid 5 minutes after initially asking. She told us that they took so long because they had to wash more, but when they came they were ice cold unlike the freshly washed (and ripping hot) plates we’d received earlier.
To top it all off, the food left more to be desired. The fried bread was good, but the bok choy was a little one-note. The conch fritters were flavorless and while the Moqueca stew was decent, it was missing something we couldn’t quite put our finger on... and the butternut squash might have the most flavorless side I’ve ever had at a restaurant. I mentioned to the server to pass along to the chef that the squash was completely unseasoned and was in desperate need of salt, and she told me that the head chef was out of town, and he’s the one that usually checks on seasoning levels as dishes leave the kitchen. Is there nobody else qualified to add salt and pepper in his absence? Another weird answer that sounded like a lie when an “I’m sorry about that” would have sufficed (just like the spoon situation).
We had a lovely interaction with the host and front of house manager, but the waitstaff was so overworked that it seemed like the cards were stacked against them. Add in the fact that the food was nothing special, and I think this place is worth skipping.
Very good food in a cool location. I would gladly return there.
Excellent service, good drinks and great food. An energetic environment with lots of movement. The wait staff was on top of things and never missed a beat. Definitely would recommend for a fun evening out if you are looking for very good seafood.
Corey was the best server! Anticipated needs and gave great recs! Superb!
One of the best experiences ever. Excellent food and service.
