Beeside Balcony is a hidden gem in old Del Mar, CA with a relaxed seaside chic décor where guests enjoy global mediterranean cuisine and ocean views from the covered outside balcony.

A third generation chef of Spanish and Italian descent, and hailing form Paris, France, Christophe's restaurant career began at 17 in the kitchen of his father's restaurant in Pasadena when they first emigrated to the USA. Upon returning to southern California in 2011, Christophe spent 8 years as the managing partner of Eddie V's Prime Seafood in La Jolla. Here he deepened his knowledge of sourcing and cooking the freshest seafood available, while delivering world class service. The laid back coastal vibe of Del Mar, combined with the attention to detail from Christophe's fine dining background, infuses Beeside Balcony with an easy elegance that elevates any gathering, and makes the perfect backdrop to showcase his global mediterranean menu.

Took out of town friends here for dinner. Service is very friendly and courteous, but completely disconnected from the diners! One of us asked it if was possible for no potatoes and extra salad, and server enthusiastically said they can do it. Meal came with potatoes and no salad. Another of us had shrimp linguine and it was drenched in greasy sauce. Picked out the few shrimp and left most of the pasta. No bueno. When the check came, the server hovered over the person paying the check and didn't bother turning the machine around or giving any privacy for the tip. The person paying said he was really bothered by this and it made him feel really uncomfortable. Best thing I can say is that the ambiance is nice; however, the food is extremely expensive for the quality. It's heavy and greasy and doesn't taste healthy at all. I doubt I'll go back and I've been here multiple times - food has gone significantly downhill. Our reservations started at 7pm and it wasn't full (Sat night). By 8:30, the place was dead. So maybe we're just the last to figure it out. We did notice that downstairs at Salt and Lime it was hopping, both when we got to Beeside Balcony at 7pm and when we left around 9. We all wish we had eaten there instead.

The service, ambience and especially the food was amazing. The crab cake and Caesar salad was so tasty as a pairing. The server was attentive and friendly. Great vibe will definitely come back.

Always a beautiful space. Asked for a special occasion along the edge with beautiful view. Was told that table was reserved which I was told was for us. But host said no you will sit here. Server was extremely slow to come to table. No water refills. Ordered fry appetizer that came with broken up pieces of fries - no long fries - like we got the bottom of the bag. After eating the appetizer - bus person came by and said we need to take your plates because to food will be here shortly. 30 minutes later - food arrived. Then dessert - Torte - took another 30 minutes to deliver. Makes no sense. No apologies. I will pause before we come here again. Makes me sad.
