Beasts & Bottles
Handled a large table with several children very well. Food was great and they were amenable to menu modifications for the kids, as there is no kids menu.
One of the worst meals I’ve had in recent memory. Took 45 minutes to get appetizers. Salad was wilted and undressed. Tuna tartare ice cold, poor texture, like bad hotel food. Wine list has shrunk beyond recognition and no SOMM left to help diners. Food was either bland or terribly oversalted. Felt trapped. If it hadn’t been so late and taken so long to get appetiZers, would have left before entrees and never returned. Food is expensive priced at fine dining level but again bad hotel food level of execution. What a miserable meal.
Second time there now with a group and everything was perfect both times. New favorite neighborhood spot!
Excellent food , wine list a bit depleted but still interesting.
We enjoyed this place very much. It’s a nice looking, comfortable place and the food was good. My only real complaint was that the service was quite rushed yet at the same time we waited a very long time for the food. They may have just been having a rough night or were short staffed but it wouldn’t keep me from returning unless it was a chronic problem.
The service was incredibly poor. The server was rude, disinterested and for an empty restaurant hardly paid attention to our table. If you say thank you or ask a question he’d roll his eyes or not answer. He threw the check down and just walked away without asking if our table wanted anything else. The food was mediocre at best. How is this place even open? Go to any of the other neighboring restaurants along Atlantic Ave. instead.
Service was not great. We were one of two tables in the restaurant and we constantly had to flag down the waiter! Food was good, not exceptional.
Food was excellent. Service was ... questionable.
Very nice place. Well executed dishes. Exceptional wine list.
Slightly overpriced for neighborhood and kind of normal menu
The bread, meatballs and polenta and buttermilk chicken- all delicious and to die for.
Best fried chicken- flexible with substituting vegetables for potatoes. Responded to our request to lower the music. Good wine by the glass list. Nice place for dinner- quiet on weeknights.
They were out of the delicious bread and it was not crowded and only 6:30. That was a disappointment.
Ambience and food was wonderful. Service was terrific - our waiter had a great personality. Will definitely go back again!
Overall area and decor is very nice with a beautiful wall of live plants. However the service was very poor. I could not hear a word the waitress said she was speaking so low compared to the music playing in the background. I asked to be moved from the booth to another table and another male server was very rude and unfriendly about the situation meanwhile there were plenty of seats available. After careful consideration for my request to be seated elsewhere, because the booth was very uncomfortable and tight, he said my party could go to table 15 with an attitude as if we knew which table was number 15. Overall food was delicious but unnecessarily overpriced. The scallops were delicious but incredibly expensive for three small pieces as well as the cauliflower. They charge for bread as well for $4! I would not eat here again because the service was very unfriendly and the food was not worth the price listed on the menu.
Wrote on opentable during booking we were celebrating our friends engagement. It was never mentioned during our dinner. Then their meal was served cold. I have been here a dozen times and have raved about it until this occasion.
Great service and ambience. Chicken dried and difficult to swallow.
Great neighbourhood find. Have walked past many time and finally made the time to try this place. The entire dining experience was delightful. Looking forward to coming back to try the brunch menu.
What a fantastic find in this otherwise limited neighborhood! We started with an amazing champagne by the glass, finished with some delicious craft cocktails and fresh baked madelines. From start to finish the entire experience was fantastic, staff was super nice and we didn't feel rushed even though they were jamming! Can't wait to come back!
This place has it together from food to the visuals. They have a rotisserie and know how to use it the chicken was so awesome I cannot stop thinking about it. Staff was very friendly and attentive.
A little pricey, but food was delicious and service wonderful! And...the atmosphere was also wonderful although noisy. Will definitely go back.
Too loud, too expensive, food OK but nothing extraordinary.
Have been going for years but was disappointed recently.
We wanted to try something new within walking distance, and were pleasantly surprised by B&B. Chicken Provençal was excellent, as was the duck. Didn’t love the beet/endive salad, but all in all it was a great meal.
This place never disappoints. The food and wine are excellent, the service friendly, but not overly so. Great for any occasion.
Went here for New Years eve, they were offering a pre fixe menu and wine pairing. It was a little expensive for only four courses but each plate was delicious. I dont know if the waitstaff was just added for the holidays but they didnt seem to be too knowledgeable on any of the courses on the menu.
We'll definitely go back on a regular night.
The worst meal I've had in 3 and a half years living in NY.
We dined at Beasts & Bottles on NYE at 7 pm and it was absolutely horrible. The tasting menu was a huge disappointment. We signed up a night before on open table for the 4-course meal offered at this restaurant and it was a complete joke. They mislead you advertising the holiday meal as 4 course dinner. The only course that was decent was the dessert. Everything else was tasteless, without seasoning and VERY SMALL. It was not very expensive considering it was being advertised as a 4-course meal on New Year's Eve ($85) but it was not a 4-course meal. It was a joke and we left hungry, very hungry.
1. The truffled cauliflower vol-au-vent was the size of a quarter. It tasted like it was baked at a cheap corner bakery. It was upsetting when we realized that this was the so called first course.
2. The Waldorf salad was not seasoned at it was 80% celery. It really was a sub-par salad.
3. The Truffled Lobster Pot-au-Feu was not a full lobster. Seafood is my favorite food and I know how it looks. This was not a baby lobster and it was accompanied by a single tiny potato. Joke.
4. Dessert: the ice cream was fine. You cannot really mess up the ice cream.
In addition, we felt rushed from the moment we came in. The waiters kept trying to remove our plates before we were finished even though the place was 60% empty for New Year's Eve.
When we asked to speak with manager, we were shocked by his pedantic attitude. He was unpleasant, arrogant, pretentious and kept saying how great their chef is. Instead of listening, he kept pretending to speak French at us even though he was clearly not French. He kept saying that it was tasting menu to explain why the New Year's Eve menu was different from the pictures in Yelp and Opentable. It WAS NOT a tasting menu and it WAS not a 4 course meal.
He kept saying that the restaurant is so amazing but it is not even on Infatuation.
Notably bad food. One of us ordered a special — no one told us, but it turned out to be a $45 risotto dish. Would not recommend.
Very average, nothing bad to say about the place but nothing memorable. Unfortunately not good enough for me to want to go back.
There was nothing memorable about the food that would make me come back. The service was fine although it started out a bit rocky, but they recovered by checking up on us periodically. Very overpriced
Was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Great cocktails, and that smoked duck was or if this world!
Miniscule portions. Wines Are mediocre
But the service is tops. Figure that
Wonderful cod great warm but not intrusive service.
It’s taken the place of Henry s end as our go to place
Brunch was a pretty quiet crowd. Service was very good. Overall ambiance was chill.
Great sommelier, fun bar, excellent first courses. However, the pluses of these attributes can't really be offset by the incredibly dismal table service and horribly slow kitchen (we waited 40m for any drinks and food after we sat down) Lastly, for a "rotisserie" restaurant, they have super disappointing dry chicken!
Service was horrible every step of the way, 20 minutes to get a cocktail and the place was dead. One plate came out all alone. The food for the other 3 people we had to ask for. Which came out cold. Absolutely horrendous all around.
We had a great experience eating at Beasts & Bottles. The food was exquisite and the wine list impeccably curated. The decor was beautiful and added to the casual but upscale ambiance. We will surely be back and recommend to friends and family!
Even though Alex wasn’t there, James took excellent care of us. Food was excellent, the vintage grower champagne was served at the perfect temperature, a great burgundy recommendation paired deliciously with the chicken provencal and the amazing desert and wine pairing topped off a memorable meal in Brooklyn! Cannot wait to go back.
I love this place. Such amazing food, a neighborhood favorite!!
Excellent ambiance, staff, food for a fine Thanksgiving dinner. Only odd thing was prix fixe with no coffee or tea with dessert.
Different thanksgiving meal for us for sure. Food and wine pairing- was the highlight.
Loved our dinner. We had the house baked bread and the chicken feast for two. Both exceeded our expectations. I'd find it hard to eat here again and not go for the same. The scallop appetizer and Panna cotta were also good, but we could have done without. Atmosphere and decor were great and service was spot on.
