The best hummus and pita I have ever had. The duck was also exceptional. They use nothing but the finest ingredients. The tomatoes were incredible. Can't wait to go back.
Fantastic in almost every respect!
Food - great. Ambiance - fun! Service - top notch! Here's a rundown of our meal:
Wine - We had a nice Syrah by Peay. Paired nicely with the meal.
Spreads - The baba ghanoush was ridiculously good - light and creamy, well-blended, and served with a "fried pita". It's not your typical pita - it's a thick and doughy version of pita.... Unexpectedly delicious and amazing. The "farm cheese" was also good, but one suggestion for the restaurant is to call it by its proper Arabic name - "labne w/zaatar" - rather than try to rebrand what is considered a staple food throughout the middle east. I only mention this because I imagined something completely different (soft white village cheese perhaps?), so when we were served a plate of labne, it felt like "ohhhh.... it's just labne." Don't get me wrong, it was good! But it's just labne...
Appetizers - The prawns were fantastic - tasty and sauteed perfectly. I've never enjoyed deshelling prawns and normally don't order them for that reason, but these prawns are worth the effort and general messiness. We also ordered the oyster mushroom kebob... not my cup of tea. If you're expecting an oily, savory button mushroom - this is not that. They were steaky and grilled nicely, but the oyster flavor profile did not match my palette at all. If you don't like briny/fishy aftertaste, stay away from this one.
Entree - We had the slow roasted lamb neck shawarma. Fork tender, on the bone, served on a really nice loaf of laffa bread (sort of like a naan bread... a thicker/doughier version of pita). Really delicious. Served with sides of tahini, pickled vegetables, and a green amba sauce that I chose not to try. It's a bit of work assembling bites of this, but well worth the effort.
Dessert - we skipped.
Overall, it was a lot of fun and a good vibe. We left feeling highly satiated and happy. As with any "mezza" style meal, it requires some work with your hands, so make sure to wash up well after!
I booked bavel for my bday because bestia was full. Wow am I lucky. Everything exceeded my expectations from food to ambiance. It’s a beautiful space to have a romantic dinner in, and trust me - the food will not disappoint. Who knew hummus could taste so amazing?? And the lamb neck... needless to say, I’ll be back ASAP with a large group so we can try more amazing things.
The wine list is fantastic and the cuisine is explosive with flavor! Thanks for the great hospitality and for taking the risk of being different!
Faves were duck hummus, baba ganoush and the fried pita that accompanied, lamb neck shawerma. The cous cous that came with the tagine wasn't that good but the beef cheeks were legit.
Please don’t miss the exceptional experience with the Som!
lovely like always...
chef ori and his amazing staff keep it amazing ! thank you !
We had a fabulous time... Food was over the top, love the setting. Just wish it were a little less noisy.
It was delicious! Our server was attentive with wine recommendations. And the ambience was fun. We sat in the patio area, which was lovely, but the inside looks great, too.
Stunning food, as always. Fresh ingredients with an innovative menu. Great, friendly service. I love the vibe and energy of the restaurant. Sometimes music can be so loud that it's hard to talk.
Everything was excellent! Came here for my boyfriend's birthday, and he was completely blown away with the quality of the food. We had an excellent waiter who suggested all the right plates. Thank you! Will be back soon :)
Good food. Fast serve. Def wanna go again
Spectacular food. Bavel lived up to the hype!
I have been looking forward to dining at Bavel for months, but you have to be content with an early dinner on a Sunday if you don't plan months in advance. We sat on the patio which is a lovely choice if you want a more quiet dining experience as the interior was loud. Our waitress was helpful in guiding us through the menu, steering us towards items that she thought would pair well together and would be satisfying. I appreciated that she did not try to load us up on appetizers and main courses, suggesting three starters and a shared entree for the two of us Everything was delicious (including the homemade ice cream on the peach cobbler -- and I don't care for ice cream). I cannot wait to rebook to try more of Bavel's elevated Middle Eastern cuisine
Waited 45 minutes past our reservation time to be seated. Wasn’t sat until 10:15 and was too late to enjoy dinner
Amazing! No wonder it's #1 in Los Angeles!
Every single dish was terrific!
Loved it more that the first time. Just like wine, somethings get better with age.
Service was excellent and the staff were all very attentive. 5 stars for the service alone! Food was delicious and were all beautifully plated/presented.
Dinner at Bavel was exceptional. For how many seats this restaurant has, the service felt incredibly personal and attentive. The food was phenomenal and the space is stunning. I can’t wait to go back.
The food & atmosphere here is phenomenal. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed it!
BEST meal & dining experience I’ve had in LA!! Will be back stat!! 🤤
I'm not a very adventurous eater but when I'm at Bavel, I feel brave enough to try things like chicken liver pate and scallop crudo. I know they will be made and presented in a fashion that will put the food in their best light. I haven't been able to cross the line and try the lamb neck shwarma yet but my son, the gourmand, assures me that it's the best. It was a wonderful place to celebrate his birthday. Staff is very attentive, almost too much so when it comes to keeping water glasses full, but at the same time, it was otherwise unintrusive. Food came out at a good pace and I love places that encourage folks to share dishes. We weren't rushed so they could free the table for another group, a rarity in a restaurant that popular and busy. Go to Bavel, spend lots of money there. You won't be disappointed!
Average food. Lousy service. Thought we went to the wrong place!
Enjoyed our meal but but found noise level inside to high and service tapered off half way.
My wife and I enjoyed the scallop crudo and the chicken liver pate the most of the four dishes that we ordered, The prawns are delicious but are a bit spicy as well as messy since you need to use your fingers to eat them. The fish was excellent but does have some bones which one has to look out for while eating, The strawberry pastry is also excellent especially the pistachio ice cream. The next time that we visit we will try the lamb neck which is a signature offering of the restaurant. This is a great place for those who appreciate trying new foods and having an interesting experience,
All the food was except for the mushrooms. They tasted strongly like kerosene from oil that had flamed up on them. Shrimp was fantastic
The food was good . Service could be improved , the hosts weren’t so welcoming . Some dishes were overpriced .
Lovely and beautiful ambience, delicious food, very hip and trendy! Love it !
Omg I loved this place !!! The food is so delicious it makes you feel so good!!! I wish I can go every Saturday night !!!!
There is love in every bite - seriously - I went here w my aunt, friend and sister- my friend is vegan so they also have vegan options
Great fun and relaxed ambiance with tasty food.
Both the service and food were excellent. I would definitely return again. Remember to make your reservation early!
I had booked this table before I knew I had to have surgery and I was not giving up my reservation we purchased a nice variety of items off the menu - many we would repeat again and many more we didn’t get but look forward to trying - we did note it was a special occasion but it was not acknowledged - it’s not a ding on the night just an observation -
Celebrating Dads birthday! Bavel is AMAZING! Food, service, atmosphere is impeccable always a pleasurable experience
Effortlessly cool, great service and food. An amazing experience. Love going to bavel
The whole experience was fabulous.
The food was amazing! Highly recommend both the oyster mushroom kebab and grilled prawns. Only thing I would change was the seating - we had a great view of the kitchen. but the table and seating was a little awkward.
Great experience the food, wine and service were were all on point. Really cool to experience wines from off the beaten path that pair with the extraordinary Mediterranean cuisine. Perfect match.
Excellent food and experience
Deserts were disappointing...
its definitely the most inspiring restaurant in l.a ...
also had the pleasure to meet chef ori which is so humble and smart !
will go back like always !
tnx for perfect experience time after time
