The Bavarian Beerhaus York Street
Great food, great service
Annual gathering of friends. 8th year in a row at Bierhaua
We used to love this restaurant but the beer and menu changes have changed what this restaurant used to be. The service was terrible. We waited 20 minutes for our first round of beers... at a Beerhaus!
This place now feels like a crappy American restaurant trying to be German, and not even trying that hard.
What an absolute disappointment. All on our table of 10 agree we will not come back.
Not a busy day but still slow or no table service. Had to go to bar to order some drinks after the initial rounds of drinks were served. No water offered.
Great atmosphere, friendly and attentive service. Wings and sweet potato fries were so tasty and well cooked.
Good food, nice ambience and of course great drinks.
Great German food. Good variation in the menu. Great range of German beers. Too noisy for a talk.
Service very slow but otherwise lunch was pretty good.
Please bring back veal schnitzels (other than 1kg)!!!!
The schnitzel and potato salad was really yummy. The happy hour beer was unbelievably cheap. The venue was very loud with a band playing and we were seated near the toilets which smelled quite a bit.
Very noisy, had to shout at each other to be heard, very buzzy atmosphere but that's to be expected on a Friday night. We enjoyed the experience though, I'd come again.
Bar staff jump all over the place, frequently serving people who arrive at the bar after you.
Out of a pils, a lot of white wine - changing the menu and wings !
This has been my 3rd visit specifically for the food if you like schnitzel etc. The servers were all friendly however not great service and didn't listen or remember certain requests regarding drinks in particular. It was very busy as usual but hard to get someone's attention to order a drink.
This bavarian cafe has the best food in all of the choices in Sydney. Had a great night, lovely waitress and great ambience, it seems to get better after 9pm. Will be back again next year and I recommend it to my friends,
Taking advantage of chicken week, however was disappointed in the wings which were underwhelming and undercooked. Portion size small and skin was soggy and slimy. The topping on the uber schnitzel was confusing (needed a sauce as quite dry). We got the lunch special which included a beer, but no alcoholic alternative such as house wine for the non-beer drinkers.
Dined here as part of a weekend stay in Sydney, Meals we chose were nice, however Veal Schnitzel didn't appear to be Veal ? Table Service was a little bit lacking but waiting time for the meals after ordering was very good. Overall I would say I would still go there again as the menu was very good and I would like to try some other meals.
Food tasty though expensive. Service generally poor.Place was not packed by service very slow (waited long time before anyone acknowledged us on entering, hard to get waiters attention etc). Also we had no cutlery when food arrived & couldn't get a waiters attention so grabbed a basket with napkins, cutlery etc of a nearby table. Waiter then came & grabbed the basket & dropped a pile of butter knives, forks and napkins on table.we had to again collect salt/pepper & steak knives from nearby table
The atmosphere and the types of beer to choose from
Music did not fit. Should be reflecting the German culture!
Went with a group of 10 friends on a Sunday. Quick service, great food which we all enjoyed.
Great food and value for money. Ordered the tasting platter between 2 of us and could barely get through half! Also, make sure you bring some form of ID - they might ask you at the door and if you don't have any, you won't be allowed in - regardless if you're over 18 or not!
cleanliness must be improved.
The food was mediocre, and the soft drinks tasted watered down.
We'd ordered the "Diesel" drink, and after having waited for what felt like 10 mins, we asked our waitress and was told that they had run out of the beer, so I changed my order to a mango beer. It turned out to have no mango taste, (my colleague's one was OK) so I had to send it back for the syrup to be added. They had run out of the same beer last month when we were there, but that waitress came to tell us as soon as she found out, so it was poor service this time around.
If you have something to celebrate with a lot of people and want to have a great time, Bavarian Bier Cafe is the place to have it at. Friendly staff, who are very accommodating and friendly. I was very happy with the whole service and my time at the cafe during my get together.
It was the noisiest restaurant that I have ever been to. It was a Friday night so it was packed. I couldn't hear what my friends were saying and we decided to eat quickly and go somewhere else where we could hear each other. The food was okay but not great.
Great venue, food service and the beers , all
Top level. It's a favourite for either a work lunch or few after on a Friday.
I had a great time! food was delicious, staff were more than welcoming. I will definitely go back
Happy hour is great and table service was very good and very quick!!!
Have been to Bavarian Bier Café In Parramatta & that one is way better than York St. Bar service took forever even with it not being crowded. Took an hour for a waiter to take our food order. Also we where told to be quiet. Our experience of the Bavarian Cafe's is they encourage a little noise. I believe we were not over the top.
Great environment, with friendly and attentive staff. Unfortunately, the food isnt too good.
Fantastic food, service and quality. 10/10
Had a great lunch time meal here. Very enjoyable. Food was really good.
Everything was great! Had an extremely good night out!
The booking was for 9 people for a Christmas work lunch. The service was fast, the waiter was friendly and efficient (and a great sales person!) and the food was very satisfactory with generous portions.
