While the menu changes regularly, you will always find a selection of different salsas, tacos, salads and entrees. Appetizers include a unique take on classics such as nachos, empanadas, salsa, quesadilla, and guacamole. Come to Barrio, one of the best Mexican places in Chicago.
Very tasty. Had both reg margarita and cucumber haleoeno. Perfect. Had pomegranate guacamole- very good and fresh. Lobster quesadillas very good!!! Shared steak fajitas- excellent. Banana pudding was good. Overall really nice atmosphere and great service- except valet which is shared with another restraint so we had to wait to get in and out and at 18 dollars should have own valet. Good overall.
Food was great including the bottomless mimosas. Steak tacos are pretty good. As is the pork fried rice. The right amount of sweetness to that dish. The service was terrible. She seemed clueless. Got the wrong side and she didnt apologize for being served the wrong item.
Great place overall, the drinks and food were amazing and the DJ knows how to keep up the good music!
The food was delicious and the service was great. Definitely a fun spot for a nice dinner or some kind of celebration.
Great food and atmosphere. Waitress was a little rude and didn’t seem to know much of what she was talking about.
Amazing food. Service was slow, but it was National Margarita Day and it was very crowded.
The corn bread didn’t disappoint. But the enchiladas left little to be desired. Very bland. Churros for dessert were good.
The waiter placed the wrong order for plate and we had to wait for it, it took awhile before we received the correct dish
Great experience! Food was fresh and delicious and service was top-notch. I travel to Chicago every year for work, and this will continue to be one of our go-to's for dinner.
Husbands 50th birthday lunch was perfect!!
Great food didn’t have drinks but had the fajitas and were excellent. Also the fish of the day was very good. We also had the guacamole and the queso dip for an appetizer. Would highly recommend trying and will definitely go back
I loved the place, great atmosphere, food and drinks. We all like it so much we will be going back very soon.
Barrio was absolutely lovely!! The service was the fastest I’ve ever experienced and the atmosphere is perfect for a night out. I loved the food and the menu is really unique! Loved it!
I loved it here. Super pricy but that’s downtown vibes. Food was good! Nun super special but it was decent!
Birthday brunch. Delicious food. Loved that I could get a half portion of the French toast-it melted in my mouth! The server was amazing. It was a tad loud in the restaurant which made it hard to hear each other speak. Beautifully decorated. Looking forward to going back.
Loved the environment And music. The food came fast despite how busy it was... everything was delicious and our waitress was on point. We’ll be back!
We went to Barrio to celebrate Valentines Day.
Awesome food, cool vibe! If I lived in Chicago, I would definitely come here often.
Busy place for brunch but with our reservations we had no issues securing a table. Service was great and the food was good. Took advantage of the Chicago Restaurant Week menu plus had a few drinks.
Tried the restaurant week menu and the food was AMAZING! Would definitely come back!
The lemon ricotta pancakes were phenomenal! The guava sauce gave the sweet pancakes a perfect contrast. The fried chicken and churros were a great twist on chicken and waffles! The chicken was perfectly spiced and the agave butter gave it just the right zing it needed and the side of hot sauce complimented the kick the chicken had. Overall, definitely on my "to frequent" list!
Friends and I got together for casual night out with good food and drinks. The restaurant week menu was amazingly good. Ordered the lobster quesadilla as well. I’ve been here Many times before and the lobster quesadilla was something I always ordered for the table, however this time around it was a bit disappointing. Not wife sure what had changed, but it was a little lack luster as before. Perhaps it had been dimmed down or the lobster seemed to be hidden. There used to be a nice outer layer of crispy cheese and big chunks of lobster throughout. The cocktails were mixed perfectly and the octopus and skirt steak were amazing! Would still return, however may not be getting the lobster quesadilla anymore.
The food was amazing! They heard we were celebrating a birthday and brought shots to the table! Such an enjoyable evening for all 👍
Great, great, GREAT food...great ambience! I went with three friends and we had the carnitas nachos, corn fritters, octopus tacos, mushroom tacos, and skirt steak tacos, and brussel sprouts! The drinks were superb! Long story short, we were dancing in our seats as we were eating!!
Even though I arrived pretty late to the reservation, they had a lot of empty tables and were willing to seat us. I called ahead to let them know. I was really excited but everything was below expectations. I ordered from the restaurant week menu. The acai bowl was tiny and also warm? I wasn't expecting that. The avocado toast was my favorite. The short rib hash had barely any potatoes in it and it was kind of soupy. Our server was very lackluster; when asked if the cold press juices were included in the restaurant week deal he shrugged and said "Whatever you want." Overall, Barrio was average and I won't go out of my way to dine here again.
The chicken fajitas were so bland. The drinks were just ok. Nothing stood out for us to want to go back.
Food and waitress service was great. Only negative was the bartender who made a few comments which were either poor attempts at humor or intentionally unprofessional. Hi sass behavior was a sharp contrast from the service we got when we moved to a table. The service at the table was prompt, courteous and professional
Waitstaff preoccupied. Food ok. Loud. Fortunately, my guests were great company. I have been to the restaurant before and it was better so hopefully, this was an anomaly.
We had a group of 8 for restaurant week. While the food was good, as always, the service was lacking. It took 40minutes for our first course to arrive, followed quickly by the second course. Then one of 8 got her entree, and then 20min later the rest of us did. I will go back, as I love the food, but this night was definitely a miss.
We brought a group of 9 coworkers here for lunch. Barrio handled our large group perfectly, making sure our drinks were kept filled and our food arrived quickly. The food was delicious, as usual. The staff was friendly and attentive. Our out of town guests were impressed.
The food was amazing and the atmosphere was a pleasant mix as we celebrated my wife's birthday. The portions were generous and the taco salad was build for two. I will definitely be back again
We came for restaurant week and had an amazing brunch. The food and drinks were delicious, the staff (we sat at the bar) was very attentive and kind, and the in house DJ was an unexpected bonus! We will definitely be returning.
Cortez was outstanding. He catered to our needs impeccably.
This was my first time to Barrio. We had a party of 8 for a celebration, and I would highly recommend it for most types of group celebrations. Everyone in our group really enjoyed it. Place is high energy, but not overpowering. Very good food and attentive service that is used to handling larger parties.
We came here for an anniversary dinner on a Saturday night. We were seated within a couple minutes of arriving with a reservation. The ambiance was perfect because it was upscale enough to feel appropriate dressed up but also casual enough at the same time. Our server was great and attentive. The food was incredible. Only complain would be the prices ($17 for 3 tacos) but you're really paying for the setting and food presentation. Cannot recommend the flight guacamole and octopus tacos enough!!
It was restaurant week and the 4 course menu was worth the price. Everything was delicious! Carnitas nachos, fajitas, and chowder. Drinks were also food and the churros were to die for. It was my 1st time there but I will return.
The food was excellent. We had a table of five coworkers and we enjoyed sharing some appetizers and entrees. The service was very slow, luckily our boss doesn't hold us to a minute lunch break. But definitely if you have the time give it a try.
Friendly staff, amazing ceviche
Best place to have great food and watch plenty of sports.
Legit one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. Took forever to get our food, to the point where we had to follow up on desserts that were supposedly arriving 20 minutes ago. Food was great, but the service was uncomfortable.
