The dishes are so salty today, but luckily the manager asked chefs to redo.
The food quality and taste is lower than the price, so it's not a good value in my own opinion.
The service was atrocious and the food tasted like leftover Chinese take-out someone reheated in a microwave.
We had reservations for Mon. at 7pm. The waitress was eager to take our order yet she forgot our beer because we had to ask where it was. We went there specifically for the Peking Duck and they didn't have any. They said they ran out. When we ordered the chicken, she had to check to make sure they had chicken. The price is not worth the small servings. It's pretty dark in the restaurant too, my father in law had a difficult time reading the menu.
Amazing place, authentic, traditional. Food quality is excellent and their Pekin Style Duck is simply the best in Seattle.
It was so good! Best food I’ve had so far in Seattle! Expensive, but save up! It’s worth it!!
Terrible food during happy hour
This was my 2nd visit to Baron's. On my first visit, we were blown away with the dining experience. Not so much this time, hence the review.
+ Peking Duck & Pork Belly entree dishes were excellent as before.
+ Steamed buns filled with egg custard was a great dessert.
- Service was rushed. Maybe it was "rush-hour" 7:00 pm on a Saturday.
- Our server did not take the time to talk to us and explain the offerings on the menu.
- I was given a filthy menu card (slathered in some sticky "sauce"). When I asked for a clean menu, my server gave me a questioning look that made me feel as though expecting a clean menu was too much.
- Imperial fried rice was tasteless.
- Eggplant "cakes" were tasty, but were brought to the table barely warm despite coming out of a deep fryer.
- Seafood noodles were brought to the table barely warm.
Not sure if I'll be revisiting any time soon. So much potential...
Great place to celebrate daughters 23rd birthday. Good food. Black cod was the best!
food is so so. Way too overpriced. Tables are too small and chairs are not comfy. The staple roasted duck is tiny, dry and tasteless. Don't they know they are supposed to use the specially fed fatty ducks for that dish?
Peking duck is good.
I called ahead to ask if they had a gluten free menu, they said yes and were quite enthusiastic about it. I show up and they have ONE thing gf on the menu...some weird tofu dish. Seriously?? That would be nice to know when I call ahead...huge waste of my time!
Try the duck and Smokey Old fashion. Portions are a bit smaller than expected but you will leave feeling satisfied rather than uncomfortable.
Good peking duck. Understaffed. Poor and inattentive service. Do not go there for special occasions.
The food was excellent, my only complaint there was how quickly it was brought to us. That might sound funny, but we'd ordered a three course meal and my soup came long before I'd finished my appetizer so it wasn't even close to hot by the time I ate it. My main complaint about the evening was the service. We were greeted as if they were annoyed we came to the restaurant, our server never asked if we'd been there before, did we have any questions about the restaurant, type of food, service, etc. The restaurant was mostly empty, and while it was toward the end of the night, I do expect a reasonable level of service. They were out of an appetizer that most of my family ordered and the host came to the table to let us know and said "we'll order more tomorrow so there will be enough for customers that come in tomorrow." Uh, what? Why do we care if you have enough tomorrow and why are you talking to us like we work there? About half way through the meal our server started chatting with us like he just realized we were there. He did manage to salvage the poor service at that point, but things definitely did not start out well.
I went to Baron’s with a friend to try out their Seattle restaurant week menu. It was great! Great food and great value for all the food!
Also, our server was super nice, she answered all our questions, she was very knowledgeable of the menu.
The hostess who welcomed us was really nice and kind as well, she greeted us smiling and took us to our table.
Overall it was a great experience with great food, and I’m definitely going back to try other items from their menu.
The menu is modern mashup of pseudo Chinese dishes, certainly not from the provinces that they claim to hail. My friend and I went for restaurant week and it was clear from the measly selection that their food markup is about 75%. Very overpriced. Also, I’m thankful that while I can’t have wheat, I can ingest some soy sauce. Pretty much nothing can be modified to accommodate GF. Guess I will continue to drive to Richmond, BC for Chinese food.
Food are terrific ! Especially the signature Peking duck! Definitely best in Seattle area. The waiters are very helpful and nice.We have 3 toddlers. All staff were smiling to them and serve with patience. Absolutely a happy experience dinning there
This is the place best for it's Beijing roast duck which is so good:>)
This must be a money laundering operation. Food is good but very overpriced and management has no idea of customer service and hospitably. Our first visit was reserved for trial via Seattle Restaurant Week. It is very clear on website to exclude Friday and Saturday of this special week's specials. We got there early on Sunday night to meet friends and were informed that there would be NO RESTAURANT WEEK offerings that night. I asked why I was not called earlier and hostess indicated she was just told that, really?? Anyway, decided to stay and try as looked nice; and friends joined us, and we were seated. I mentioned to waiter of disappointment about trial menu offering, and he was embarrassed and indicated would offer a "passport deal and $20 off instead for cancelling restaurant week. Four of us ate light and $200 later felt mislead and taken advantage of.
We basically had four dishes and no drinks - and no discount on bill as waiter offered either
Pretty empty Sunday night too and very large place and undoubtedly high overhead. I wonder if will still be open next year?
Wow, this food is good! My wife cannot wait to go back.
We had the Restaurant Week menu. The appetizers were great. Wished they showcased their specialities for the main courses too. It was not memorable.
