Four of us arrived for our 6:30pm reservation on a Sunday and were seated promptly. A busboy brought us water and bread within a few minutes. Then, nobody paid any attention to us for the next 25 minutes!!! Nobody took our drink order, nobody asked us about food, nobody even acknowledged that we were in the restaurant, despite plenty of servers circulating in the dining room. Finally, we complained to the reception and the girl there brought us a waitress, who apologized briefly and then took our order. Once ordered, the food came quickly and was fine. Considering the ambiance and the prices, I expected MUCH better service than that (and frankly, I expected a better apology after being ignored for 25 minutes).
Food and service was absolutely top notch. We were impressed at how they alway kept our water glasses full. Even if we were quite full we had to try the desserts. Glad we did.
The crab Alfredo was terrible... very fishy tasting. Clams and chicken were great. Miguel was awesome.
The staff was attentive and helpful. The wine selection is great. Food was top notch. I had an awesome time and would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to have a nice night out.
Was seated 30 min late. Our waiter was obnoxious and tried to be a part of our conversation. Took him 15 minutes to even take our order. Our entrées were another 30 minutes. In total or a dinner for two took almost 3 hours.
I’m never coming back and telling all my friends to avoid this place from now on.
Fantastic service, really good food, and extensive wine list.
Everything was delicious and a great romantic dinner location. Service was impressive and the value was hard to beat.
Had a perfect wedding anniversary dinner at Barolo. Service was attentive and timing right on. Our server came to our table right away and was very helpful. Food was inventive and delicious. Server helped select the right wine for the food we ordered. We highly recommend Barolo!
We had a very large group (15) for business and the name of the game was to leave an impression on my guests.
Thank you Borolo! Mission accomplished.
The place has a great vibe and is warm and inviting. There is a buzz in the air that tells you that this is going to be a good meal.
Service was in tune with the fact that this was an important occasion and was very attentive to my guests. We had some last minute additions to the group and we were graciously accommodated.Luckily we are a close group so even though we were tightly packed. No one was too smushed.
Focaccia bread and olive tapenade arrived as soon as we sat down.
Appetizers for the table- grilled calamari was gone before anyone could take a second look- it was perfectly done. A cold antipasto and plates of delicious prosciutto with shaved cheese set off the evening nicely.
A great wine list and we were off to the races.
Menu is chock full of tempting dishes and after the salad course- the main courses came.
Ossobuco seemed to be the most popular choice and it was prepared perfectly- I have never seen plates so clean!
Pastas were also delish- squid ink pasta with seafood served in parchment paper not only made an impressive visual impact but it was spot on
Just so you know I am an honest broker here- I would have to say that the dessert choices were not on par.
But truth be told- no one really had room for them anyway.
This is the second time I visited Seattle and the second time I visited this restaurant.
If I come back, I will definitively visit this place again.
Delicious food with great services. Fancy environment!
Great service, amazing food!!!
Too pricey for what they had. Trying to hard to be different
Went for lunch, but only had an hour for it. After waiting 45 minutes for our food we had to leave as we would have been late for our meeting. It’s a shame as the service has been excellent in the past.
The service went way beyond expectations. We made an early reservation and brought our infant daughter. We weren't sure it would be a good idea, but the host moved a table near a walk so we would be out of the way and the servers were extremely friendly to her and accommodating. The food and wine were great, but the service was the thing that stood out to me.
The food was great, at our table of 4 we ordered the duck breast, lamb gnocchi, rabbit fettuccine and seafood squid ink pasta. Everyone said their food tasted wonderfully delicious. Would definitely recommend the food.
However, our service was extremely lacking. Our server almost never check on us other than brining the food out. While we were waiting between appetizers and main, I asked for the drinks menu so I an get a drink while waiting. I waited and waited, the drinks menu never came. We also ran out of water at our table and no one refilled the bottles until our main course came out and we finally saw our waiter and had to ask for water. Finally, I got the drinks menu after our main course was served. At this point, I wasn’t sure when I’d get the drink therefore passed on ordering a drink. The next time the server came back to check on us was when he came back to collect the empty plates. At this time we asked for the dessert menu, it took him another 15 minutes to come back and ask if we wanted any dessert. While we were waiting for him to come back to take our dessert orders, the table next to us that came in 45 minutes later were cleaning off their dessert plate. After what felt like a long time of waiting, we also passed on ordering 4 desserts and left what should’ve been a great meal disappointed.
Great pasta carbonara. Veal carpaccio was tasteless. Check price for glass of wine before orderong. I asked for a Chianti expecting a house wine and was surprised to was $16 a glass. my fault, but I felt taken advantage of ... and it was happy hour just 10 feet away.
My husband and I visited Barolo for dinner with our friends on a Thursday night during restaurant week. It's a perfect spot if you're celebrating a special occasion; the low lighting makes it very romantic, and the food is high quality and prepared beautifully.
For our first course, three of use ordered the English Green Peas Puree' And Guanciale, which was rich, creamy, and probably my favorite item the whole night. I'm pescatarian, so I was delighted when they told me they could make any of the 1st courses vegetarian (they kindly removed the Guanciale). The 4th member of our party ordered the Speck And Mozzarella, Poached Pear (without the speck), and loved it as well.
For our main courses, my husband and I both ordered the Cernia Alla Livornese with heirloom tomatoes and squid ink risotto, which was divine. We especially loved the squid ink risotto; I was worried might taste fishy, but it was the perfect texture and savory flavor. One of our friends ordered the Wild Boar Tenderloin Honey with juniper chanterelles, and he absolutely loved his dish! My husband had passed on ordering the boar because he was worried it would be too gamey, but it was cooked to perfection (seared on the outside and rare on the inside), and ended us wishing he'd ordered the same dish. Our 4th friend ordered the Raviolone with kale ricotta and local pumpkin puree and also finished off her dish!
For dessert, I was the only one to request the Torta Salame Di Cioccolato, and it was amazing! The other three ordered the Cannoli, which I tried and enjoyed as well.
Our waiter was fun and friendly and joked around with who I think must've been the manager, as he visited our table at some point in the evening.
Overall, I highly recommend Barolo for a high quality, fine dining experience!
The service was outstanding, friendly staff. Osso bucco was terrific!
Everything was great... other than it started with the hostess being rude and having an attitude. Very dismissive and NOT friendly. Got better after that.
Outstanding upscale Italian cuisine! Service was amazing. Live this venue!
As others have commented on other sites, the timing of the service needs some serious help. We met friends Who arrived 10 minutes before we did and had started on their cocktails. It took me 15 minutes to get the waiter to take our cocktail order, and another 15 minutes before they finally arrived. So of course our friends were finished with their drinks as we were starting. We ordered an appetizer and dinner. The salads came, no appetizer. When we asked about that he said.... oh I could take your salads away or just bring the appetizer too. We let him bring the appetizer and ate both courses all together.... but really that’s basic service to get the order of the dishes right. This is a nice and not inexpensive restaurant. So these glitches in service are really pretty inexcusable. My sole reason for writing this review is in the hope that management actually reads it and other reviews pointing out these persistent issues.
The food and service was outstanding. Unique entrees that were delicious and service level was superior. Overall, an excellent dining experience
Excellent Osso Buco, cut it with a fork
We had a lovely birthday dinner. Gluten free pasta was amazing!
Overall it was not a bad experience but a few interesting things. Our reservation was at 8:30 pm, we arrived at 8:15 pm. We were told we would have to wait closer to our reservation time. They ended up not giving us a table until 8:50 pm. This is unacceptable to make us wait 20 minutes past reservation time and we stood there in an extremely crowded restaurant for 35 minutes.
The service took 10 minutes to say hi afterward. We had plenty of time to look at the menu and ordered immediately. The food took about 25 minutes which was great. The food was decent but not worth it for the price.
I would not recommend this place but the food quality is not bad (just overpriced).
Bustling restaurant. We were seated for our reservation promptly.
We noticed that we were sitting on plastic patio chairs and the table a Costco 6-top folding table. Now what I would expect for a place of this level.
Some food was good, but others in the group were disappointed to the point of not eating. No remedy was offered.
Our server was very good, but was in the uncomfortable position of being stuck between dissatisfied customers and what appeared to be management that did not care.
Bottom line, I would not return and will be surprised to see this restaurant last another year.
We were beginning to think we entered a food desert until we stumbled upon Barolo..
The food was amazing! The seafood pasta unfortunately was pretty fishy tasting - like the crab had been previously frozen, but everything else was very good. Loved the atmosphere and having Happy Birthday on our menus was a really nice touch!
Good food but Too loud for conversation
Great experience. We had an early dinner following a musical at the 5th Ave Theater. Food was really well prepared and the wine selection was perfect. It was expensive, but overall a great experience. I would return for a special evening.
Great Italian restaurant, excellent food, recommended tiramisù and ambiance!
Great food and amazing staff. Server was exceptional. Offered great suggestions and really helped the evening flow.
Looking forward to going back
Food was really superb, especially the black truffle ravioli entrée. OMG.
It’s the only decent place to go if you want to dress up or have bit of a music or dimmed lights, with nice chandeliers. Service isn’t perfect but I don’t mind. Food is good too.
I love to visit this restaurant ever chance I can! I have never been disappointed and I have eaten there over the years many, many times. The specials are good and the menu is also.
I absolutely love this place no matter the occasion. The BEST!
The hostess was incredibly rude. Didn’t acknowledge us even though I said something and she looked up, said “hold on” and proceeded to continue on her ipad for several min before acknowledging us and then eventually seating us. She seemed annoyed to have to seat us or greet us. Poor service on that side; however, our waiter and food were great.
Great food, and super-nice and fun waiters. Good job
Amazing food and ambiance!!! Love this place!!!! Service was amazing too!
