Excellent food, friendly service, cozy restaurant near the Barclay Hotel. We were happily greated and seated right away, the waiters were very atentive and the food was delicious. I will definitely be back again and would highly recommend.
Dinner was a romantic anniversary celebration and Barolo East did not disappoint. From the moment we were greeted until we left, every member of the staff was attentive, pleasant, and effective. The extensive menu, specials, and wine list made the choices difficult. We were happy with everything and recommend the restaurant for casual and business dining in addition to special occasions. When the weather is good, dining outdoors is also very pleasant.
Despite that the food was tasty, I would never come back as I believe there are much better Italian restaurants in NYC. Specifically I thought the service was poor - the restaurant would make no accommodations whatsoever (I asked for spinach instead of mixed veggies - nope; I asked for 1 scoop of ice cream instead of 3, even though I was happy to pay full price, nope). It took the waiters over 30 minutes to bring the check and I had to ask for it 3 times. Once we got it, we checked the bill and it was correct so my friend and I each put our cards in. They took the bill and swiped our cards. We signed and then were informed that they had run our cards on the wrong table (the difference in cost was nominal - with our bill being about $8 more than what our cards were swiped for). The right thing to do would be for the restaurant to eat the $8 and move on. Instead they had to void our payment and swipe our cards again - making us wait even longer for our bill. Ultimately I didn’t find the staff friendly and while the food was good, it was by no means much better than any other Italian restaurant I’ve eaten at in nyc. Not worth the money.
Wonderful meal and wonderful service - highly recommend. The host, John, was very kind and welcoming. A great visit.
Great food, great service and great atmosphere. Not loud do you can have a productive business dinner.
Just what we were looking for; great food and attentive service.
Dover Sole, Veal Chop, Chicken Milanese; all delicious! The desserts are also delicious! Service is professional and the space is contemporary, light and very pleasant. There is a patio area with floor to ceiling windows that make for great outdoor dining in pleasant temperatures. The view of the patio from indoors is refreshing and really sets it apart from other nearby restaurants. We loved the space, service and most of all the delicious food options. Definitely going back again for lunch. Next time we will go for dinner. Many thanks to the staff for their kind attention to detail.
We went to this restaurant two summers ago for the first time and had a very bad customer service experience. Enough so that we walked out without ordering. We’d resisted giving it another try until last night. So glad we did. The ambiance, the service and the food were all exemplary!! Pasta dishes absolutely delicious - Barata amazing and wine selection was lovely. One of the people in our party ordered a pizza which was frankly lacking a bit but other than that, it was a wonderful meal,
Food was very good but a/c was not working and it's 88 degrees. Should have left. Next time I'll call first.
Amazing service and great food. Recommended dining outside if there is availability.
The food was very good but portions were very small. The service was also quite good.
I had a lovely solo dinner there on a Saturday evening, early, before the crowds. The waitstaff was very attentive and the branzino was excellent -- so was the creme brulee. It's a lovely spot - quiet and there's a small courtyard in the back.
excellent quality and preparation..enjoyed everything on my plate. one of the best values in Manhattan
Another great meal at Barolo East. We were there in March and said we would be back. Our server Andri recognized us from last time and was very friendly and attentive. Food was very good, particularly the Saltimboca and dessert. Good wine selection. Will be back.
Everything was great. We’re thrilled we’ve found a great neighborhood restaurant and look forward to returning soon
Wonderful, attentive service. Excellent wine list. But-the prosciutto and melon had almost no prosciutto. Compared to Cipriani Dolci’s same dish, this one is not worth ordering.
Barola East was fantastic ! We had a quiet table outside on their terrace with plenty of time to talk and visit ! The salads were beautifully prepared (Caesar Salads) along with the different entrees. The fillet of sole was a big hit and nicely deboned - sauteed in butter and lemon juice - perfect !
Their wine list was very extensive, and also their desserts were fabulous !
Great place, food, service - highly recommended
Tap Water was $9 and not disclosed. Asked if we wanted tap or sparkling and chose tap. Drinks are overpriced. But food is priced well
Excellent service from the entire staff from the moment I walked in until the conclusion of the evening. The food was top-quality and the wine (selection and quality) also met my expectations. The weather was quite nice, so I chose a table outdoors. That setting was perfect. Quiet and comfortable. I will return soon and often.
Portion was small for the price
The food at this restaurant is outstanding, and the service is excellent also. The Dover sole is especially good, but we have never had anything bad here.
For my second visit here, the fried calamari appetizer was lightly breaded, very tender and flavorful. The gnocchi had an excellent white sauce. The first time I was here, I had the veal bolognese with homemade pasta, which was outstanding. Definitely going back for more.
Lovely restaurant! Good food, excellent presentation, great waiters. No one was hovering over us, a very pleasant evening.
What a gem! Great ambiance, food service. Old school style, modern cooking without fads. If I lived in NY, it would be my go-to place for anytime special.
Absolutely incredible and authentic dining experience. Great wine list and very reasonably priced menu.
We will definitely be back .
This is a wonderful restaurant. The food was delicious, many options on menu. Good wine list and great cocktails. Beautiful atmosphere and a lovely outside dining area, as well. We will definitely dine here again when traveling to NYC.
Lovely east side gem patio is really lively Service was great and it was a really lively. Ralph with friends. Will recommend
With reservation in sharing my RAVE REVIEW, it's only for selfish reasons! Amazing food, warm welcome, easily paced, lovely appointments. Great for business and friendship - leave feeling special!
Very cute backyard patio!
Decided to try Barolo for a business lunch with a friend who I’ve known for a while and enjoys good food. It was a pleasant experience all around: service was good, the ambiance was also good and the food was delicious. Will definitely come back to this restaurant!
Went to Barolo for my daughter's 16th birthday. The food was excellent and the staff was amazing. We had a wonderful time. Thank you!!
We had my husband’s birthday party. Food was good and the service was excellent! We had a wonderful time. The interior was really nice, too. Thank you!
Very good service and management interaction.
Service was gracious from the moment we walked in the door. The food was marvelous. We had a lovely meal in a beautiful room.
Quaint Italian restaurant in East Midtown Manhattan away from the hustle and bustle. Friendly and attentive waitstaff and a wonderful menu.
Lovely hidden gem on Midtown, if you are looking for one, this is it.Exellent food, very good service and reasonable price for Manhattan.Great please for business lunch on the east side.Overall I highly recommend to check it out!!
This place was great! Kids, wife and grand parents loved it! Service was awesome and meal was best we had i the city. Great experience!!!
Our impression was that they saw us as one-time customers (or maybe they see everyone as one-time customers) from the opening trick question 'would you prefer still or sparkling' (later on you find out the wrong answer has cost you $9/bottle). The correct answer of course is 'tap please', as there are a number of waiters walking around with water pitchers. The food was disappointing, esp for a restaurant that sees itself as higher class. I had the spaghetti with clams. Yes my 6-8 quarter inch tiny shells were technically clams and they sat on a dry sauce-less pasta. Not good. Ah, and the wine list was well over 3x (closer to 4x). Walk before trying to run would be my advice to this restaurant, ie get the basics better.
Wonderful food and service, wine selection and menu choices were abundant. A lovely evening!
