Bar Takito - West Loop
The contemporary urban setting (West Loop/Fulton Market) sets it apart from all other area restaurants. The knowledgeable & pleasant service approach complements the experience.
Enjoy an award winning menu; we use fresh and local ingredients, & feature artisanal (handcrafted) tacos where every tortilla is made-to-order, shared plates, ceviches, seafood from the plancha, arepas and more. The widely popular cocktail program offers an expansive specialty cocktail, margarita, and craft beer selection.
Bar Takito can accommodate parties from 10 to 250 persons comfortably.
For parties of 10 or more please call the restaurant to make reservation.
What Insiders Are Saying
Bar Takito is like a tuxedo T-Shirt - it wants to be formal, but go here for some tacos, drinks, and to party.
The tacos were wonderful. Loved the sauces and spices. Sat outside which was lovely.
Taco Tuesdays are great and allows for you to try a single taco from their vast menu (any other time they have a 2 or 3 minimum on each type of taco).
Drinks are simply outstanding! Refreshing and worth the price. Always a good time. Thank you Bar Takito.
All around great experience! Keep up the good work ! Chef great plate presentation as well !
Great food and fun live music. Very loud and hard to talk.
Food is way overpriced for the quality and quantity. We ordered the coconut shrimp tacos (2 per order) coming to $11. The tacos were SO SMALL. The rest of the food was fine. Our server was not attentive and we ended up having to go inside of the restaurant to close our tab. We ended up staying for one more drink after we flagged him down. Last, once it became dark, the green L train lights came on. Get some shades on the inside. It totally ruined the vibe.
Service was unbelievably slow and the food and drinks were underwhelming - especially for the price. Outside of the outdoor seating, there’s not much redeeming about Bar Takito - esp with the options in the area.
I’ve been here a few times for dinner and loved it but this was a disappointing visit. We came for brunch on a Saturday. Our server was probably provided us with some of the worst service I’ve ever had in the city. It was not very busy so we don’t really understand why the service was so bad. However, our server was not very attentive, hardly checked on us, we had to ask several times to get drinks, condiments, etc.... at one point someone in our group just went inside to get what she needed. Two girls got the bottomless mimosas. They had to ask our server to refill it but since he was so slow they didn’t get many within our time there. They were also very heavy on the OJ. However, The busser was on top of his game.
Most people enjoyed their meals and drinks. The watermelon margarita was delicious. A few girls had the salad and topped it with coconut shrimp. They said it was amazing. Everything else was just ok: chilaquiles, steak/egg toast, chicken tacos, pineapple margarita, etc...
This restaurant caters to a young crowd.
We waited for 40 mins for 6 tacos. Got our appetizers at the same time as the tacos...lots of waiting and chips
I would definitely recommend Bar Takito to my friends. The wait staff were very attentive, the drinks were great and the food was outstanding. Not to mention the disco music playing in the background kept yours toes tapping and us singing along and dancing. I will be back soon.
We have gone over the years on many occasions. This was the first bad experience we’ve had. After voicing our opinion that our table wouldn’t work for the amount of people that we needed to accommodate, the staff (including the manager) was rather indifferent to our concerns. It was kind of a take it or leave it attitude as opposed to a problem solving attitude and we were left to figure it out on our own. I can understand space constraints and 5 is an odd number so I can see why it would be an awkward seating arrangement but just the semblance that you tried to figure out some more comfortable would have probably made this a 5 star visit.
Our waitress was so nice but it did take like 25 minutes to get two drinks. The inside is very cute and the outdoor space is perfect for sunny warm days.
Get the Pork Belly tacos!!!
Service was horrible. The worst service I’ve had in Chicago in a long time.
Food was amazing! The service was great. Bottomless mimosas was the cherry on top
Cute spot, decent drinks and food. Nothing amazing but not bad. I would defiantly visit again but it would not be my first pick in the west loop.
Delish food. Fun cocktails. Great ambience.
Fun atmosphere, great service and delicious food!!
Thoroughly enjoyed our experience here. Tacos were delicious. Esquires were a highlight. Pineapple margarita was amazing, patio is large . Highly recommend!
Nice place. Food was good and margaritas very good. Service was prompt and no problem with seating, but was there early. Food and drink prices little high.
Some of the worst service I've had in West Loop.
We had an unprofessional, undertrained, and non-attentive server.
Food was served lukewarm.
We were sitting closer towards the kitchen/restrooms, and it still seemed like the band was too loud; couldn't hold a conversation without screaming.
Overall -- just go somewhere else.
I went for happy hour with a friend this week. I had the fish tacos, the shrimp tacos, chips and salsa, and a cucumber margarita. Everything was delicious, as usual!
I took my fiance to Bar Takito for brunch Sunday as a surprise for Birthday and she loved it. My fiance is a vegetarian and she had no problem finding delicious vegetarian dishes that were also beautiful to just look at. The ambiance was great. The music awesome and the staff were very customer friendly. It was a hit to her and I enjoyed it myself. I'll definitely be recommending Bar Takito to anyone looking for an awesome experience of the senses and palette.
Bar Takito has the best cucumber margaritas, you can get them spicy or normal. They are SO refreshing!
Friendly service and fun atmosphere, but lacking in other aspects. I ordered an Omelette and it came with a hot sauce that I couldn’t eat, it was not listed on the menu and I would have not ordered it or ordered without had this been known. The bathroom was dirty and unattended too the whole time, even though restaurant was not that busy. My friend and I asked to split the bill on both our cards, but just one card was double charged.
I have gone to Takito Kitchen (sister restaurant) the last 3 years for Mother's Day - this year I tried Bar Takito for the 1st time! It was one of the best experiences ever. Many restaurants jack up their prices on Mother's Day, but they had a special "Mom's Eat Free". I was still able to have bottomless $10 mimosas. The food was amazing, the service was even BETTER - we didn't have to ASK for anything, before I had a chance to look up for a refill or anything someone was there to offer it for us. Thank you for making my Mother's Day!
Great brunch menu and bottomless mimosas. The service is great, too. Free street parking available.
Got together with a friend I hadn’t seen in a while and had a great time. Great service, great food, and no pressure to eat fast and leave.
Okay Mexican. Way over priced and not great mains. Apps and drinks were fine.
Food was flavorless, margaritas were syrupy, our waiter only once came to us - we had to track him down for the rest of the meal. Will not be returning.
After initial confusion regarding service, we had a great meal & spot on service. The trio of guacamole was fun, but the queso fundido stole the show. Shared several different taco selections. Great meal.
Everything was great until the music started. Very out of place jazz band that played far too loudly. The place emptying out once the music started should be a clue to management/ownership. Food and service both fabulous
I will never go back here and would never recommend it to anyone. Food came out cold TWICE, and service took forever. Cold food was not work the price. Yuck
Pretty terrible experience.
We were there for Cinco de Mayo and they were unprepared and overwhelmed. Despite having a reservation, we were told on arrival that there was no food (not even chips and salsa) for over two hours! They were turning many people away and discouraging even reservation holders from staying. We decided to sit and have a margarita anyway and figure out where to go next for food.
Our server said that was ridiculous and we had drinks and food quickly and were finished in less than an hour!! Food was great and we will be back but staff clearly needs more training and communication!
The tacos were good, but if you don’t want to pay $8-$11 for a taco smaller than the palm of your hand then do not come here. My group ordered two servings of guacamole and only got chips for one serving. Extra chips cost more, corona is served in a can with no room for lime. Needless to say I wouldn’t come back.
Amazing! We had extra people and they were so accommodating about it. Great management.
Had a great time! Had really good food, and the service was great. Our server was super nice & awesome! So happy I went and would definitely recommend to others, and will go again!
Service was spectacular but drinks were inconsistent as was the food. Maybe this place is better when it's not busy? Probably wouldn't come back on a Friday or Saturday night.
