The two-story restaurant, spanning 8,000-square-feet, is located in the heart of restaurant row in Chicago's West Loop neighborhood. Upon entering, there is a bustling bar and on the second floor, a vibrant dining room, both connected by an arresting illuminated sculpture inspired by Siena Tavern's olive tree icon.
Bar Siena is the perfect location for weekday lunch, dinner, happy hour or weekend brunch. If you're looking for something a little sweeter, stop by Bar Siena's side-concept and walk-up window, BomboBar, located on Green Street. Grab a coffee, bomboloni, gelato or hot chocolate to go!
What Insiders Are Saying
Bar Siena is great for a fun gathering in the West Loop. Go heavy on the pizza and pastas. And drinks. You're going to want those too.
The service was great, and the food was excellent! Our waiter had great suggestions for what we should order and everything we had was phenomenal!
Brunch was fabulous. Great atmosphere and very full menu
We had an early dinner reservation on a Friday night. There was condensation dripping from the HVAC air duct above our table. It was dripping on one of us directly as well as on the table. We spoke to manager and asked him to move our table. There were several empty tables in the restaurant at the time, but he said he was not able to move us due to incoming reservations. One of use moved to the end of the table (an awkward setting arrangement) to avoid the water drip on him and in his food. When we were finished with our meal, some of the tables were still empty. Incredibly poor customer service!!!
However, our waitress, Affo, was incredible and did her best to help the situation. She even brought out a birthday doughnut and gelato for person celebrating his birthday. Hopefully she will be promoted to manger, as well deserved!
Oversauced /overseasoned octopus and greens. $16 for a glass of ice with a drop of gin. The most overpriced rackect.
Outstanding! Overall A+!
Very average food with a loud atmosphere.
Wonderful upbeat atmosphere. Well informed servers. Delicious cocktails. Short Rib lasagna is 5 star. Homemade donuts for dessert are not to be missed!
Promptly seated upstairs (quieter than downstairs) Great pizza and salads. Meatball appetizer is also excellent. Service was attentive and waitress had excellent knowledge of the menu. Creative cocktail offerings and many beers available.
I have been here for dinner with family before and i enjoyed myself. So when i went on the website i saw they served brunch as well and decided to go for my birthday, i was excited. There was no brunch and the waiter could’ve been a little more attentive.
Out of town trip
Loved our sever Danny! He was wonderful. The food however came out to fast. We were just starting with our starters when the mains came out. There was no place to put the food on the table but the food runner just left it. I had to send it make because it would be cold. Felt rushed.
Remarkably poor service. The waiter was completely inattentive and this really ruined the dinner experience. We have been there several times and it is one of our favorite places. Not sure when we will go back again.
There was a line to speak to the host - slightly unorganized and only one host on a busy Friday night.
Love this place. Food, service is 5 star.
The appetizers were DELICIOUS! We went with the oysters, octopus, and hummus. Our meals came out swiftly and the drinks were strong and tasty. I would come back with friends or family but never again for business. It was EXTREMELY loud in the restaurant on both floors. Our guests could not hear anyone from across the table and we were there for “group discussion”.
Amazing service and every better food
Mushroom pizza was great! Portions were not huge
ALL THE FOOD IS GREAT!
This is a new find for us. We wanted to watch the Women's World Cup and have brunch. What a hit! We really enjoyed the food very much. The service was wonderful. We were in a comfortable booth upstairs facing a good size television to watch the game. Perfect! We had pizza, avocado toast and puff pancake. I had a delicious cappuccino that had a cute picture and writing on the top. This will definitely be a repeat and will definitely spread the word.
Great food and service! Mmmmmmm
Servers were kind enough to comp my friends meals when it was delayed! Great service! Food a bit on the expensive side for proportions but overall delivious
I have already told two different people about how outstanding we all thought the food was. Three of us had different pasta dishes the fourth had a salad because he has a lot of food allergies and so tends to be very careful about what he eats when he is out. Must admit I did not have that high of expectations about the food given I knew it was casual dining but that was where my clients wanted to do. Very relaxed atmosphere and they were not that happy about the child sitting next to us at the next table child was well behaved and there was nothing casual about the use of flavors in our three pasta dishes Waiter asked if I wanted to add mushrooms to my gnocchi and their texture contrasted to the home made pasta in that great sauce made my particular lunch even more outstanding.
We travel to Chicago a few times per year and for the past year or two, we always make sure to go to Bar Sienna. Well, after this last visit, we likely wont go out of our way to return. We ordered drinks, appetizers and entree's all at the same time. Appetizers and drinks came out then nothing else. We sat and waited for over 45 minutes until finally we asked another server to get the waiter who was helping us so we could check on the status of our food. Long story short, our original server left after our appetizer came out and never put in our food order. Although there was a shift change, no one made us aware of this and the other server only helped us once we inquired about our food. Being greeted by the new server as soon as the shift changed could have potentially prevented the wait and made up for our fist server's mistake. We ended up getting our food roughly 60-minutes after we finished our appetizers. The manager was nice and came over to speak with us. He did comp our dessert, but I personally didn't feel this was a big enough gesture considering the circumstances. I'm not really one to complain too much so we all just decided that this was likely our last visit to Bar Sienna.
Food good - pleasant atmosphere. Our waiter was rather disinterested. Never refilled water or asked about second round of drinks.
Very loud but very good food
Pizza is delicious. Loud and hard to hear beyond person sitting directly next to you.
Six of us got together to celebrate. We had never been to this restaurant before, so we asked our waitress to choose our dishes for us. The food she selected was amazing!! And a good price, I highly recommend!
It was only just ok. Certainly not worth the cost.
Wonderful time and drinks! Food was delightful and love how the front completely opens to the front entrance patio. Creates such an open air environment. Modern look and ambiance, brunch was delightful- I’m a very classic girl so classic egg breakfast is my go to for brunch. Eggs came out just as I like! Mixed drinks are well done recommend the Mezcal. Would dine here again!
Our server could not have cared less about us or how we enjoyed the food. He was slow with everything and never checked in after we received our food. The food was just ok - nothing special. Overpriced side items like the hash brown waffle came out luke warm and the short rib hash was soupy. Very sad since we have been here many times before and enjoyed it.
The short rib lasagna was absolutely amazing and worth the visit. Our server was also friendly and attentive. However, our reservation was at 8:45pm and a DJ started at about that time. No one could hear each other at our table, making conservation extremely difficult. We were told that three other tables left just due to the noise level. Perhaps the DJ should start a bit later!
Service was so terrible! Not worth the food.
Outstanding service and incredible food and cocktails.
We ordered the meatballs and the burrata apps and they were amazing! We also ordered the chicken, which was a pretty small portion; fig/proscuitto pizza which was good; spinach pasta, which was good; and the gnocchi, which was okay. I'd like to go back and just get apps - the portion sizes were similar to the entrees, for less.
In general, I feel like everything (cocktails, apps, entrees) there was at least $5 overpriced, if not more. Good atmosphere though.
The service was outstanding from getting seated to table service. But there were some food issues and the water glasses were dirty.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! This is one of our parents favorite restaurants to visit when they are in town and they did not disappoint! Kat has been our server nearly every time we visit and she was fantastic as always! They are always more than accommodating and you can not go wrong!
Pa. You can also order a late with a picture uploaded directly from your phone, on the spot! Amazing experience as always!
We loved the food, the ambiance and the service. The only small disappointment was the fact that when I booked the dinner , I marked it as a special occasion and nobody at the restaurant seemed to know about this. They didn’t even ask us if we celebrate something or have a special occasion.......
For brunch/lunch, we loved the octopus, lobster benedict and shrimp - potato skins were excellent too!
Highly recommend the short rib lasagna, the whipped potatoes, and the spinach cappellacci.
Great place for breakfast. I'm sure it's good later in the day, but I have an egg allergy and liked the fact that the entire menu was available. Good food, great, friendly service. I picked this Bar Siena because it opens at 9 AM on Saturday, but I would go back any time of day now.
