Tapas / Wine Bar with a fun, energetic atmosphere. A large selection of wines by the glass (and bottles as well) and a very nice sized menu of small plates. Our visit was on a warm summer night and we were seated by the open front windows. Our server was very friendly and helpful, and we were welcomed by the manager as well. We shared six plates between two people. Each was reasonably priced, and very delicious. We'll be back for sure.
Great food. Service was excellent. Menu is limited but every item was delicious and tasted fresh.
Fabulous about food allergies.
One of the best wine programs in the city. Their wine director, Richard Hanauer, is a living legend.
We commented on how tasty the potato chips were and the manager brought us an extra bowl. I know, potato chips? They were out for part of the happy hour buffet and I took a handful thinking I would bite into a regular chip and was taken by surprise by the delicious and unexpected flavor. We loved the cheeseburger as well, the cocktails, everything! Will definitely go again.
DONT EAT HERE
Wonderful Experience! Everything was great!
Veggie plates were great and portioned well. Octopus was subpar. Drinks are great but expensive with stingy pours.
Fun sharing dishes and nice atmosphere
Great spot for a drink and tapas before a show downtown. It was a super nice day and we sat just inside the open windows out front. Our waitress was excellent-very friendly and attentive.
Sooooo delish! Loved every bite & cant wait to go back!
We didn’t know it would be “Happy Hour” for a selection of tapas and wine when we arrived a bit early for our reservation. Delicious bonus!
Great service. Our waiter helped us pick some terrific choices. We’d go back in a heartbeat.
Great food and service. Loved all the options of small plates. The rhubarb cheesecake dessert was heavenly!
The wine was great but the food was awful. The manager checked in but didn’t make it right enough. And the server was nice enough but really didn’t care. Spending $90 on a $40 of wine and food that was subpar doesn’t sit well.
We dined early on a Friday evening and the restaurant was busy from start to finish. Our server was a bit stand-offish. We’d never dined here before but he didn’t want to take the time to explain the dishes we wanted to order. We ordered seven small plates and all were delicious with our least favorite the asparagus and the bread and our faves were the short rib and snapper. Food came out quickly and the wine selection was good. It was very noisy, with music that was a little too loud and didn’t fit the clientele.
Lovely take on Spanish tapas , atmosphere is nice and good wine list
Great food and very nice staff. We were able to sit outside which was great as well.
It was absolutely wonderful. The food was delicious and the atmosphere is really fun. The pork belly is to die for. We were there for a special night with our grandma, our waitress and the restaurant manager made it so special for us. Thanks for such great service and for making such a memorable night! You really made our day (and most importantly, you made our grandmas month!!!) We can’t wait to come back!
One of the best meals we had in Chicago (and that’s in comparison to James Beard nominated restaurants). Looking forward to coming back.
Went here for a chill birthday meal and had an awesome experience! Super friendly servers, great ambiance, and the drinks/meal was exquisite. I would go here again in a heartbeat. Better for small groups as it's not a huge space.
Excellent experience. I had heard great things about Bar Ramone and it did not disappoint! The ambiance is great and was matched with fantastic service and food. I highly recommend the lamb meatballs and the patatas bravas. We will definitely be coming back next time we are down in River North.
Great menu! There a number of options that you will want try them all. The artichoke and goat cheese pinxtos are delicious bites. Loved the brussel sprout salad ( could have eaten this all by myself). We had the short rib with pea purree -delish. We tried the Tuna tartar and it wasn’t what our favorite and we let our server know and she offered for us to get something else that we would enjoy. The manager came over to introduce himself and shared it was taken off our bill. I really appreciated that level of service. There was room for dessert and as I had eaten there before I remembered the rice pudding as being sooo good. Yep it was just as good - the salted caramel sauce so decadent.
Usually really enjoy LEYE restaurants. Actually this is the first exception. Completely and ridiculously overpriced. I am far from cheap. But this place may as well just tell you to bend over when you walk in.
Everything was just absolutely amazing! Had a great time with friends!!!
I was pretty excited about going to Bar Ramone since it is a lettuce entertain you restaurant. I was enjoying the atmosphere as I entered and found a seat at the bar while we waited for our table. The bartenders were attentive and we were eventually seated at a 2 person table. Our server was going through the motions and gave a few suggestions when we asked what was popular. He provided us with a specials menu which had Roasted oysters for $12.95. We then ordered the garlic shrimp and the crispy Spanish rice with serrano ham. I was a bit surprised when they brought the oysters and there were only 4. They tasted good, but again was disappointed with the fact that they couldn't even make it a 1/2 dozen!
The other 2 appetizers were very good. We still wanted it have a few more things and so we tried the duck confit poutine. I have had several poutines before and this one was probably the worst.
The duck tasted like breakfast sausage. Deciding not to spend any more of our money we left at that point, feeling a bit underwhelmed. I can't say that I will be returning to Bar Ramone.
We arrived very early for our res. Hostess was politely honest about not being able to seat us until the time of res. She pointed out that 2 seats had just become available at the bar. We decided to take them. Fabulous evening. Mandy gave us great service, food was terrific and well spaced, bar was quieter than the tables and the manager offered tastes of new wines. We will definitely return!
Food is always great here and our server, Beth was knowledgeable and great.
We were very happy with our evening at Bar Ramone. The food was amazing. Notables were the Crispy Artichoke, Galician Octopus and the Braised Short Rib. It's a bit pricey, but we recognized the labor intensiveness and quality of the dishes. One should expect to enjoy and savor each bite!
My date and I had a fantastic few hours enjoying some delicious food and solid wine. Kristina our server was excellent as well
It was the most incredible experience. I proposed to my girlfriend (now fiance!) during this reservation! The entire staff was on top of everything and helped me coordinate the entire proposal! I can't say thank you enough!
Sorry this is long but worth noting......We had reservations at 8pm on a Friday night and were running late. We called and they said no problem and they would push them back to 8:15 for us. We arrived around 8:10 and they said it would be about 15min to get a table ready which we figured was ok since we were late anyway so grabbed a drink at the bar and ended up finding two seats. We preferred a table but after sitting at the bar for about 10 min asked about the wait again and hostess said it could be another 15min as they were still waiting for another table to get up. At this point we were a little frustrated because although we were late we had reservations and had called about being late. At 8:30 we decided to order an app at the bar and at about 8:40 she was able to seat us at a table.
All of that to say that afterwards ALL of the staff including multiple servers and the manager made a point to come over and apologize for our wait and ensure us that we would be well taken care of. From that point on the experience was great, all good came out timely, yummy wine, and very attentive wait staff. The atmosphere is so cute and romantic and the menu is so varied/delicious.
The check then came with 50% off due to our long wait time! Wow what a generous act to turn our entire experience around. I have never had such a large gesture before and it was greatly appreciated. It truly reflected the type of customer service Bar Ramone wants to portray. It was my second time there and I will definitely be back. I applaud Bar Ramone for knowing how to treat customers!
Our experience was wonderful. The food was delicious, and our server, Christina, took great care of us. Highly recommended.
Awesome experience from start to finish.
I would not recommended- Despite our reservation we had to wait 30 min for our table. As a “compliment” for our waiting they sent us bread with cold tomato sauce and parm and friend kale. When I spoke to manager after the meal about the complimentary apps did not feeling adequate for our wait he was very rude and dismissive.
One word: YUM
Really pretty restaurant with an old-fashioned bar look. The staff was friendly, attentive and professional. The food was delicious though a bit pricey for the portions. I could sit here for hours with a snow falling outside their big picture windows or stop by and enjoy just as much on a hot summer night. GREAT date spot or just as good for business conversations after work.
The service was great and so was the ambiance. Really enjoyed their choices of spanish tapas. The server recommended her favorites and she did not disappoint.
Atmosphere and concept and menu are great. Food was over salted and many dishes were served cold. Staff tried to correct each issue but too many in one seating.
Nice restaurant with helpful staff. But the portions are on the small size and overpriced. Also best not to come with an odd number of people.
Some of the appetizers , mushrooms and chorizo pintos come with only 2 portions. We were a party of three.
What to do ??
