Loved the cuisine. The steak tartar was very good. Service was a bit disjointed.
During COVID, we’ve craved Korean BBQ for the longest time. Really worth the price and sitting outdoors with masks on. Sadly there’s a plaza and restaurants nearby with loud customers. My partner and I could barely enjoy our conversation throughout dinner. The service was superb too! They were thorough with refilling our water and making sure our plates and utensils were switched from appetizer to entree.
What a great place to dine outside under these difficult times. Bann is located on one of the few blocks near Times Square that has a large quite and tranquil plaza that features several trees, a fountain and plenty of room to breath. Best of all, you won't be breathing any fumes from cars, because you're not dining along the streets on a sidewalk.
This was not our first time dining at Bann. In fact, it's a favorite of me and my family which includes my Korean wife and mother-in-law. But, don't let that intimidate you if you're not Korean (like me). The food is amazing and always well prepared. Bann also has many of the traditional and trendy cocktails enjoyed throughout NYC.
Okay, about the food. They have many traditional Korean BBQ dishes that any meat lover would enjoy (Beef or Pork). Spicy wings are also on the menu as are several traditional bowls and soups that are popular in Korea.
Now more than ever... I highly recommend dining at Bann!
There are a lot choices on the Menu, even the BBQ on your table with the good ventilation system that you would not smell much. The service is swift and the food is good.
Excellent choice for family -- kids had a lot of fun cooking their own food which was delicious
Bann is consistently a great value and great quality authentic Korean BBQ food.
I took my family out for a dinner on a
Another great night cooking our own food at our table!
Nice restaurant with good food. A littlt bit noisy ventilation but overall nice.
Birthday for kids
Food was flavorful and presented nicely - do not leave without trying the mandu. Be prepared to cook your own bbq - which was fun, but distracted me from the conversation. Would have given an extra star if the waitstaff had manned the grill or at least set the expectations at the start they would not be. Very patient hostess and we were afforded a unhurried dinner even on a busy Friday night.
Excellent food & service. Will definitely return!
Parrillada Koreana de buena calidad, con muy buena atención y excelente ambiente.
Was a group of 6 for Valentines and the service was impeccable.
Valentines Day meal. Food was great
The food was great
Love this spot! Perfect for early dinner before the theatre !
The service from the front door to the servers were wonderful - perfect amount of attention with enough time for my friend and I to enjoy the food and conversation. Although I enjoyed the bibimbap, the scallion pancake could be better. I felt it was too thick and not enough flavor. I cannot say much for my friend's wok-fried rice, but she enjoyed it. It would be a great place to stop by before or after a theater performance as it's near many of the theaters in Times Square/Theater District.
High quality Korean bbq restaurant conveniently located near Times Square but far enough away that it is isn't mobbed with tourists. Peaceful atmosphere and grills in the the table work well for all members around the table to cook at the same time. Large platter for $150 is a good deal for 6 people (it can serve up to 8) if you order a few sides. Good service from the staff also.
It's always clean, food quality is impeccable. The waiters are always willing to help or give suggestions.
A few friends and I came here for restaurant week and had such a wonderful experience. The food was divine, the ambience and staff were so fantastic and we all agreed, restaurant week or not, we will be back for more!
We love to dine at Bann - being there during restaurant week made for an even better deal! The restaurant was particularly warm this evening. . .but we love cooking over the table grill.
Incredible food for Restaurant week, displayed impeccably. The ambiance in the restaurant was simple yet elegant. The food was some of the best food I have ever eaten!
Fantastic. The food was delicious. The short ribs melted in your mouth. Service was excellent
Loved all the dishes! The best Korean food I have had
I went with two of my girlfriends during Restaurant week. I was a little worried about what the portion sizes were going to be, but fear not—the food was delicious and plentiful. From the menu I had the dumplings, the braised beef, and the dragon dessert and by the time the meal was over, I was completely full. In addition to the entrees we were also given a large bowl of rice to share and other little sides. We went for dinner so the lighting was dim and really set a beautiful ambiance. Definitely recommend!
The food was delicious!!! Great portion and great taste!! Recommend the filet mignon Korean bbq and pineapple soju!
We had the Restaurant Week menu. Mandoo (fried beef dumplings) had an excellent skin; the filling was a little bland, partly helped by the dipping sauce. Chap chae noodles were delicious. We chose to have the kitchen cook the barbecue, probably a mistake; less fun and I think less tasty. The tofu pot was delicious (it comes with a tiny amount of your choice of meat).
Bento boxes offer variety and good value for Bulgogi and kalbi. Good spicey soups also an option.
Service wasn’t good the front hostess who was doing rounds in the dining room occasionally was more helpful that any server in the dining room. Had to ask her to call a server over for us multiple time as she was the only one who’s attention we could catch when she came to the dining room without getting up from the table or yelling across the restaurant.
The service here is pretty terrible
Beautiful space and such delicious food! Enjoyed the sushi appetizer. All my food allergy needs were taken into account in preparation.
I truly enjoy a wonderful dinner at Bann. Will be back again. Keep up the great service.
TLDR: Good food(A+), BUT HORRIBLE SERVICE (F-)! NOT RECOMMENDED. Overall rating: C
I came here on Saturday at 5:45pm with an OpenTable reservation with three friends to celebrate my 35th birthday. Be aware they serve CONTEMPORARY Korean cuisine (so it's not exactly traditional Korean food here). I was very disappointed in the service. They rushed us through dinner in 45 MINUTES and made us all feel extremely uncomfortable. The drinks, appetizers, and entrees all came out almost simultaneously. My friend and I had to EAT OUR APPETIZERS ON OUR LAPS since there was no space on our table for everything! That's ridiculous especially given the high prices for this restaurant!
I came here before several times and it USED to be great. Usually I come on weekdays during off-peak hours. However, coming on Saturday during pre-theater hours was a bad choice since they CANNOT handle crowds. As I was discussing out loud if we should get dessert, the waiter unceremoniously threw down the check without asking if we wanted anything else. No checking in on us, asking if we wanted drinks, dessert, coffee, NOTHING. We never saw him again after he took our order until he came by to collect our credit card payments (mind you we still tipped well!)... He robbed me of the chance to order a dessert to celebrate my birthday! I can forgive most things but bad service is not one of them! I was embarrassed to bring my friends here. I actually felt sick from eating so quickly. I will be taking my birthday celebrations/business elsewhere that actually CARES about giving us decent service in the future!
Amazing appetizers. Grill experience was tons of fun. Short rib was so flavorful but the tuna was a bit plain. Barely searing it was best. Overall awesome experience and will repeat for sure.
The food always hit the mark
Came here for restaurant week, the pork belly buns and the endless bulgogi were full of flavors, a place to definitely come back.
Our only complaint was we got too full to try any more of Bann's amazing food. Never made it to entrees as our group filled up on the sharing plates and appetizers. Favorite was the Dduk Bokki, rice cake. While the Dak Nal Ke Tikim was tasty some found the chicken wings too spicy. The Jap Chae was also a fave. Nothing unusual about the steamed buns they were just very good. We made sure and saved room for the fun and delightful Tropical Snow dessert. It's large enough for 3 - 4 people.
I can't wait for my next trip to NYC so I can try more Bann.
Solid Koren BBQ. We had the large platter - lots of meat and good, but worked for 4 comfortably (not 4-6 as it suggested), and could have done with a few extra bits of accompaniments.
