Another great night of dinner and drinks at the bar with Earl. Love Balmoral!
Missed seeing Colin tonight!
We enjoyed trying new items from the January menu. These special menus that you have throughout the year are very affordable and a chance to try all your delicious entrees. Jasmin D. is an excellent server, very attentive and personable! Looking forward to our next visit. Colin, thank you for bringing Scottish cuisine to the western part of Chicagoland.
Excellent service and the roast was delicious! Excellent tea and very enjoyable
My daughter’s 50th birthday. Thought the complementary dessert could have been MUCH nicer. Sabrina, our waitress was excellent, but it would have been MUCH appreciated if the owner would have stopped by our table. Even at California Pizza Kitchen the “manager” never misses doing that. It is such a nice touch and doesn’t take much time.
We have eaten at Balmoral quite a number of times and always brought guests. We hope you continue your upscale establishment.
Food was delicious and the service was great. The bagpiper was a nice touch.
From the time we walked in the door till the time we left....everything was fantastic.
We love the BALMORAL restaurant. Always something new and different happening there. My friend and I wanted to try the 4 course dinner special they were offering for $44.00. So worth the price. You had the choice of one of three appetizers, choice of soup or salad, choice of one of four entrees and dessert! It was fabulous! They also put some nice breads and sweet butter on the table for you. I highly recommend. The owner even came over to greet us. If you are celebrating a special occasion be sure to let them know. And don’t forget the scotch or whiskey. Great bar and great selection.
Jasmine was WONDERFUL! We enjoyed our food and the treatment we got from Jasmine.
Service was personable, comfortable and at a pace we could enjoy the warm Scottish setting, the food and our conversation.
Taste of the food was a pleasant surprise. The flavors were above and beyond what we were expecting. The Laird Seth's Golden Bread was served with Maple Syrup that was never used due to the incredible flavors of of the Golden Bread and Custard sauce. The Crumpet Benedictine was a treat served on a crumpet and with Back Bacon. The Best Benedictine, period. Food was pricey but well worth it.
We are looking forward to coming back and having dinner. Expectations have been raised and we are looking forward to having them exceeded.
Another great meal and evening at Balmoral! Exceptional food and service. Pleasantly surprised by Steve playing a bagpipe rendition of Happy Birthday!
Everything was superb! Can’t wait to go back! An excellent dining experience!
Such a unique and delightful dining experience! Service was friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was cozy, and the food and drink selections were superb. While the meal options are more unique than one might be used to, there is sure to be something on the menu for anyone! We loved the bread, and the bangers and mash! Also loved that the dining experience is meant to be at a slower pace - great opportunity for quality time and conversation!
We went for the new Taste of Scotland menu and it was fabulous. Balmoral is consistently excellent in food and service. We cannot recommend it enough.
We were celebrating a birthday! The lunch/dinner was GREAT and our server was OUTSTANDING! She was very friendly & helpful w/good suggestions! We will definitely come back again! Now we’ve been to afternoon tea & dinner here!
Good food, great drinks nice atmosphere and the waitress was very nice.
Greeted by a bagpiper and checked in by a great host. Decorated perfectly for a Scottish restaurant. The food and drink was incredible and service fantastic. I highly recommend.
First visit and it was very good. The selection of Scotch, ambiance and quality of food resulted in experience that will bring us back.
A superb dining experience. The beautiful interior; the attentive, knowledgable, and pleasant staff; and the incredible menu and execution of the menu makes this a very special experience. Given the reviews I read going into the evening, I had very high expectations - and those were exceeded in every way. Living in St. Charles for 13 years, I cannot believe we have a restaurant of this caliber. I will be returning her regularly.
Amazing dinner. Every bit was enjoyable. Tea service is also fantastic.
Go here all the time for the best food in the area! Had the venison tonight; wow; was incredible. Service is always great & Alante is back in the kitchen. She can do everything!😍
It was NYE and we didn’t know what to expect. We drove up to have a bagpiper start playing as we walked up the sidewalk to the door. We were a few minutes late but the manager greeted us so warmly and asked if we would like to have a drink first and I said I didn’t want to keep our table too long for the next people coming in to which he replied “It is your table for the night- we don’t double book tables - so please have a drink in the bar, and you let me know when you’d like to sit down”. Never in my life, have I heard that from a restaurant! The place is so warm & charming.
I brought my brother-in-law & sister-in-law and they were just taken aback. When we got to the table, it was all decorated and beautiful! The English rose China that they always use is just beautiful and such a rare elegance. And then the food just blew us away! The presentation, the choices, the quality was just amazing! And we never felt rushed. They said they would never bring the check until we asked for it. And that was true.
This is going to become our new “go to” place.
Whether, it’s just for a cocktail, a late night after dinner drink, an afternoon tea, a Sunday breakfast or full on dinner, you have to go there!!
Lovely staff, excellent food, and wonderful ambience. This was our first time at the restaurant for New year's eve and it exceeded expectations. The staff was very responsive to requests for accommodations.
We were here for Afternoon Tea, and we were not disappointed. Everything was just perfect. Their tea selection was wonderful, even though I would have appreciated a few more loose leaf teas. I had a Scottish Classic tea which was full-bodied with a beautiful depth of flavor. The Sandwiches and Sweets were top notch, with a lovely treatment of smoked haddock. I could have eaten several of those tiny sandwiches! And the scones! So light they just melted in my mouth! Scones were served with Clotted Cream and Strawberry Jam. We've gone to Afternoon Tea in one of the hotels in Chicago, but Balmoral does this at least as a well for almost half the price. We will be back here many times!
Susan thank you so much! We wanted to bring an outstanding experience to the suburbs of Chicago. Our traditional recipes and bagpipes await. Sláinte!
The food was excellent and the service was good! We I’ll go back and bring our friends. We have been to Scotland a couple times and the food was so comparable. Will go back again soon!
Out of this world!
We had a great late Sunday lunch as usual. The Sunday roast ham and the combo Sole/salmon were delightful!
Great home made breads, and an assortment of sides finish off the main course. Ended our lunch with the decadent chocolate caramel shortbread dessert-yummy!
We will be back.
Always good food and fun time. While we appreciate the expanded menu, decision making is difficult because of the many great choices
This was our third time at Balmoral, and the first time for our guests...... everything was outstanding, from our Pork Belly Appetizer to the Pork Chop and Rack of Lamb!! There is SO much more on the menu I can’t wait to try! Highly Recommend!
I am a frequent diner and Balmoral and it has become one of my all-time favorite restaurants.I believe Friday was my 10th visit since they opened. The service is amazing and the food is consistently excellent. I love the bagpiper who greets you at the door. And Colin the owner is extremely attentive to all his diners. I highly recommend.
We went to Balmoral for afternoon tea. The food was very good, and the tea excellent. The ambiance and service are excellent as usual. We have gone to Balmoral for afternoon tea before. Their menu for the tea has changed. The food is still very good, but it is not as fancy and unique as it used to be for an afternoon tea.
A beautiful restaurant experience on Christmas day. The pork chop and lamb were excellent. You get a lot of value for your money.
Christmas eve dinner was a delight. The food is excellent, the little touches were really what topped it off. Thank you!
I think it might be more enjoyable on a regular night rather than. Heist as Eve. The table was loaded with party hats, noise makers, and more. I felt a little claistrophobic. Food was excellent
This was our first visit. We had the afternoon tea service. We were impressed by the bagpipe player who welcomed us into the restaurant! Once inside, we were once again impressed by the China, crystal, and flatware. The table was beautiful! The tea was delicious and served in a substantial tea pot. Finger sandwiches and pastries were fresh. The fresh baked scones were delicious. The scotch and whiskey selection offered several extremely selective brands that are difficult to find and were prices fairly.
We will definitely be returning to try dinner. This restaurant surpasses many Chicago restaurants in quality , ambience , and service and it is so nice to have such a quality restaurant out here in the burbs!
The experience was outstanding. We were greeted by an Scottish gentlemen playing bagpipes. The food was excellent with a great atmosphere! Strongly recommend for a new adventure
We had such a great time there. It was a special night for our group and the staff made it that much better. I would recommend this restaurant for a special occasion.
My friends and I attend a tea for the holidays each year. Usually we go downtown Chicago but, this year we tried the Western Suburbs and Balmoral. Two of us visited Scotland last year and since then, I have wanted to try this place. We were VERY impressed!! We enjoyed a true tea experience. The staff was extremely friendly, the decor was lovely, the China was gorgeous and the food was excellent (not to mention the smells of the Sunday roast from the table next to us...YUM!). I will definitely be back for dinner and tea in the future!
