Bairnsdale RSL - Sunset Bistro
Out of 6 meals we got. 2 parmas, 2 pastas and 2 chicken schnitzels. Both schnitzels were undercooked. One came out pink.
RSL was understaffed
I hadn’t eaten here for over a year. We evacuated from our little town due to the fires and thought a meal out would be nice for everyone.
The last meal I had at the Bairnsdale RSL was value for money, fresh and delicious.
My latest experience with my family was not at all satisfying, and at this stage I will not be coming back.
Food was overly priced, veggies were out of a packet (frozen) and it was just horrible. Can’t even say the kids enjoyed their meals.
I enjoy good food and don’t mind at all paying for it, but I wouldn’t recommend eating here.
We were booked in for dinner there was six of us. My mum and I had the filo and it was lovey but just warm on the outside and totally cold on the inside. We asked if they could be reheated and they bought us completely new meals (hot this time) and have us a free drink anything we wanted. The staff were very apologetic and went out of their way to rectify the situation. All other meals were lovely and enjoyed by our group.
Booked online table not booked in venue had someone else's name on it .meals ordered wrong meal delivered so 2 of us had our meals separate times not good at all.
Booked a table using OpenTable and when I got there, no one was around to assist with my booking. As I stood at the entry staff walked past but did not stop. I finally went to the bistro counter to enquire as to where my seat was and was told that one of the floor staff would assist me. Finally, I was able to get someone to help by asking someone on the floor. They looked at the booking sheet and said my booking wasn't there. I showed her the OpenTable confirmation on email. She then said that the system often didn't work and that I should just go to any unoccupied table that had no reserved sign on it. I then went to the counter to order. I gave my table number and my order for one. I enquired about some garlic bread with cheese as a starter and placed that odrer along with my chicken parma main. I was then asked for my table number, which I had already given. I then paid and was given bread for two people, even though I was a solo and had order garlic bread. The garlic bread finally arrived and it was huge - too much for one. it explained why it was soooo expensive. Then my main arrived which was of average quality. I left not long after, unable to finish the meal. Overall, a somewhat disappointing experience.
We love Bairnsdale RSL but this time they were very busy
No one was at the door to seat us we had to find our own table and menus
Other than this we enjoyed Bairnsdale RSL food is great 😃

The Club it's self is very nice & friendly..I've had dinner there few times & the food was very nice...but not the Bistro Sunday...Food was horrible..the ONLY thing that was nice was dessert.. Very disappointing...
The service was good but I have eaten there twice in the last month and both times our meals were forgotten. I had to ask each time for them. The food is good the service was good but kitchen needs to be better. I can get discount from membership card at bowls club for both meals why can it not happen with RSL bistro
Hi John T Thanks you for the feedback and I will pass it on to the Head Chef. Forgetting meals once, you can nearly forgive but twice is really not acceptable. It is policy that only members receive the discount and receive RSL Reward points for purchases as it is their benefit for being a member. Membership is $15 per year and you receive 1200 points in the month of your birthday as well as discounts and points ... membership is a pretty good deal. Regards Sue
