Badmaash Downtown LA
What Insiders Are Saying
In a city without much in the way of unique Indian food, Badmaash is breaking the mold.
Great food amazing service
Great food and super friendly staff. Great experience all around.
Delicious food ! Good service ! Loud & regular ambience ! Value for money!
Awesome experience! Will definitely eat there again!
Best, as usual.
Had a reservation for 10 and still had to wait outside for 30 min. Quantity of chaat was definitely not worth the price (4 puris for 9 dollars).
It was really disappointing. I’m vegetarian and ordered the Broccoli for 16$ - it was a really small portion, cold, charred and soaked in oil .
Naan bread was four tiny pieces for bread.
A Badmaash is a bad guy but the food is all kinds of good. 5 star yummy!
Great food! Everything was delicious. And our waitress was very helpful.
Loved the food. It was some what noisey, and I wished they played Indian music
One of the first restaurants I visited in downtown LA when I moved here last year, and they never disappoint! Great food and great service every single time!
The poutine was as amazing as usual! The pickled vegetables were more vinegry and not crunchy as usual. The mango mousse was warm and melting. A bit disappointed by this last visit.
Good food. Too noisy/loud. Hard to talk.
This place was amazing! Was not at all disappointed. Just glad my husband and I made a reservation for a table because this place is small. Oh, and we will be back!! :)
The food was amazing. The price to portion ratio is just slightly skewed but the taste makes up for it. We tried 9 dishes and only 2 were something I wouldn't want to eat again. Overall just great and I can't wait to come back.
Great vibe and energy. A twist on traditional Indian food does have its pros and cons. I'm glad they provide both options.
Great place to go > comfort food for sure ! Walk around the city to burn off that "overstuffed" after dinner and hit up some of the fun night spots.
I am Indian and this probably wasn't the best place to take my parents. The traditional Indian food was okay and overpriced, but it seems like the restaurants specializes in non-traditional Indian food such as the chicken Tikka poutine or lamb burger. This could be a good place to take someone who may be hesitant to try Indian food.
I make a "pilgrimage" to Badmaash in DTLA when I can just to enjoy their Ghost Chili Lamb Vindaloo. Never have I had a SPICY curry that is soooo flavorful. It never has let me down. All I wish is that they started stocking some Indian beers like Kingfisher to go with the meal.
I am Indian and I really loved how they had given an American twist to the traditional Indian. It was something out of the box and I would definitely recommend everyone to go and visit it once!
One of the best meals I’ve ever eaten! I’m sure the ambiance improves as the night wears on. We had a 5pm reservation to make it to a concert by 7. I 100% recommend this place.
The food was delicious! A super fun spin on the Indian food we love. The atmosphere was great—a little tight—but overall LOVED our experience there. Went for my boyfriend's birthday and they were so kind and celebratory for him. Thanks Badmaash!
Our favorite restaurant downtown. Always delicious!
Food is outstanding. Best Indian in LA. I’ve had the butter chicken, lamb vindaloo, beef short ribs and pork. All delicious. And love the servers here.
They were not prepared for our reservation. There was another party still at our table and we weren’t seated for just over 30 minutes past our reservation time. There is no area to wait and they didn’t even offer us the option to order drinks or snacks while we waited. And there were other open tables we could have just sat at until ours was ready. The hostess apologized, but it just seemed like something more could have been done. And then it clearly wasn’t communicated to our waitress because it wasn’t mentioned again once seated. But the waitress was nice and the food was delicious. It’s a bit loud of conversation, but it has a nice vibe. We will definitely be giving it another shot, just hope the overall experience is as good as the food next time!
Love this place. Go every time I’m in LA
Service & food outstanding. Music too loud at lunch
You're paying for the ambiance, location, and overall great staff (AKA rent), so please don't use that as a negative for the prices! It is pricey but all the food in all honesty is worth the upcharge. Now how high the up charge is...well that's up to you (8$ for 4xapps is a bit much tbh) but it def is worth $2-4 more dollars than you'd find at Anarkali or Ashiana's.
Looking forward to returning! Great location great staff great view
Incredible food, incredible service. It was a bit loud, so it was hard to hear both my date and the server. But otherwise fantastic!!
Indian food has become so Americanized and bland that I can hardly recognize it from what we ate in England in the 1960s. Baadmash is a return to the sharp flavors that used to distinguish the Indian food we ate then. It does not take us back all the way, but some way is better than none. The lamb vindaloo featured an honest sauce. Several of the vegetarian dishes also were very good. My largest complaint is the number of Indian-American-Fried menu items. I guess that is Baadash's way to cater to American tastes, and I guess it is better than making every dish vapid.
I was very excited to eat here. Unfortunately it didn't live up to my expectations it's not that it was bad just overhyped and under-delivered. I wouldn't be in a big hurry to come back.
Whnn walking in the atmosphere had the sound of clinking plates and joyous murmur. We were greeted and seated in no time at all, and our server immediately welcomed us with water before making sure we were situated and helped us understand the menu before also giving us a solid recommendation. This was for my partners birthday which was definitely acknowledged. The service was constantly there and we were checked in on regularly.
Excellent food, great service! Absolutely delish!
We've been wanting to try Badmaash for some time and a birthday was the perfect opportunity. Of course we had to have the chicken tikka poutine and the butter chicken. The spiced mango pork belly was melt-in-your-mouth heavenly. The service was attentive but unobtrusive. We were doubly surprised at the yummy coconut rice pudding dessert because it was unexpected and because of the excellent play of texture and flavor--soft, cool, smooth rice pudding with crunchy toasted coconut and almonds, infused with cardamom. The one thing that might influence our decision to return was the noise level. We went very early and ate when the restaurant was still fairly quiet. By the time we left, it was lively but manageable. Finding a quiet spot to enjoy conversation with the meal would be a challenge later when the place was full.
The host a tall white women made my visit awkward and unpleasant. She wasn't personable. She started by asking if it was my and my partners first time, I said yes it was, and that I heard so many good things about the restaurant. Then she said nothing afterwards. Why would she ask if it was our first time dining if you weren't going to suggest anything and stand awkwardly as we gaze over the menu. I asked for recommendations, that I was vegetarian and my partner is vegan. She ranted over 7-8 items which didn't help because she stood there with what felt she was rushing us to pick something.
I love the food, I still don't know what had. I would visit again, but I would ask to be serve by someone else and hope not to make a scene.
LOVE the restaurant, love the back story, I seen you guys on TV. Hated the waitress. I took my partner to this special restaurant because it was our 1st anniversary.
Bustling and Festive with great unusual delicious Indian food. Excellent service. Not the most comfortable space for a leisurely meal...but for a pre-theatre bite - perfect.
Great food and great service! We will be visiting again with more friends!
Badmaash was a popular restaurant which friends suggested me to visit while I was there. My visit there however wasn’t able to live up to the expectations.
The food is just good enough - the taste is no where close to Indian food.
Also, another problem was that my sever wasn’t real nice. She did not understand what I was trying to order unless I had repeated the same thing thrice. Slow service and just average food made this not the best experience.
Great food, great service.
Such a great dinner. Sassy place! Perfect for a date night before the show! Cannot wait to get back!!
