Babylon Restaurant - Sydney
Drinks where pretty bad at the start due bro having someone on an interview make our drinks. Hostess was really rude. Waitress had to be called after 10 minutes of waiting to order. Wife ordered an espresso coffee and it was literally two drips of coffee in a cup. The food was amazing from the kitchen and would highly recommend if the service would have been better was really dissalkinted in the service despite the great venue and food
I attended Babylon on Tuesday for lunch at 12 noon with my husband and two children my daughter is 4 and my baby is 2... it can be nervous bringing young children to a nice establishment however the staff and service were exceptional...we were able to order immediately and the food came out very quickly and was enjoyed by the children also... Definitely get the lamb it is amazing... thank You
Service was fantastic, food was incredible! Absolutely loved it here!
Very welcoming and outstanding service with an exceptional atmosphere!
Ate at Babylon in the restaurant and the food was very disappointing compared to the bar area. We were advised we couldn't have the bar food.
Food was overpriced and tastless. Was really looking forward to going there as it was a surprise for my bfs birthday.
Fabulous food and not bad service, but really let down by disorganised kitchen and bar. Got a couple of dishes up front and waited forever for the others. A glass had a chop and we waited a good 20mins for a replacement. Just a frustrating experience. The last experience was quite similar but it was in the bar area. This was supposedly full service restaurant area. Don't think I will be back.
It is a beautiful place service is really slow in the restaurant. The outside area has better service and less wait time.
Fabulous! Food was amazing but the best thing was the fantastic staff. We had a great night.
The food was excellent but the portions were small and isn't truly value for money. Ambiance was generally ok but the music a bit too loud for conversation
Found the food, service and ambience very good - will be returning before Christmas.
Impressive flavours & great service. I will be coming back again
Great venue, but such a shame Babylon will not reserve tables for their diners on the rooftop courtyard. Very disappointing & hard to understand their reasoning. Would it not be possible to keep a section aside for reserved seating? Ambience inside is nice, but on a lovely spring evening who wants to be inside? Tables were aplenty in the courtyard but we were not permitted to change from our booked inside table without penalty. Why???
On a brighter note, food & service were faultless. Though we over-ordered for the two of us. I suggest 2 sizes of the meals - small & large - as the one-size-fits-all approach is just too much for only 2 people. 2 sizes would allow 2 diners to try more dishes. We couldn't possibly get through a whole bowl of the very tasty hummus & bottomless bread, nor the excellent cauliflower, chargrilled octopus & lamb. Our friendly waitress did offer to pack our leftovers for us but we were going to a concert after dinner, so we couldn't take her up on the offer.
the policies to change , increase and cancel are ridiculous
First time at Babylon this weekend and completely enjoyed the service, food and décor. Attentive and efficient service; stylish interior; quiet ambience and delicious food. The spiced fried cauliflower is a must!
Great atmosphere and food and super convenient location for a business lunch. We'll be back
The food was cold. The food cost compared to value is disappointing. Your paying for the dinning experience not the food.
If you're looking for somewhere to have rooftop drinks this is a great place to go. I wouldn't recommend reserving a table here as their policy is extremely strict. We had booked a table inside for 4 people but then on the day decided we wanted to sit outside because it was a beautiful day. They wanted to charge us $25 per person to move outside so we were forced to eat inside as per our booking and then we moved outside for drinks once our food bill was settled inside. This was despite the fact that both the inside and outside sections were not even half full. Whatever the restaurant policy might be, this was just not a great way to be treated on our first visit to the venue.
However, the rooftop area is really nice and has a great vibe. Food was also really tasty but pretty pricey for the size of the dishes. I would recommend to friends for drinks and snacks from the bar menu outside.
Booked Babylon for a friend’s bday and we were beyond impressed ! The food is middle easters/ Turkish with a modern twist and the cocktails were magic ! Can’t wait to go back!
Food took a very long time to come, waiter didn’t come to fill out our glasses with water we had to ask a few times. And the noise was very loud.
Delicious food beautifully presented and impeccable service
I visited Babylon recently in a group of 6. Things did not go well from the outset. No one was in attendance at the front desk to show us to our table when we arrived, which meant we had to walk down to the bar to find someone only to be told that they could not help us and we had to go back to the restaurant. We did, and once the girl behind the desk managed to tear herself away from her i-pad, she handed us to the new guy who had no clue about where we were or what to do. Finally seated in one of the banquettes, he informed us that there was no cloakroom. So I guess the alternative to male guests who want to put their coat somewhere is to throw it on the floor.....
We ordered a LARGE BOTTLE of mineral water as two of our guests did not drink alcohol. When this finally arrived, the waitress filled two glasses and took the carafe away. This meant that each time the non-drinkers wanted their glass filled, they had to wave down one of the disinterested staff members to ask for a glass. I can't tell you how irritating that was, particularly as the configuration of the banquettes meant that each time the waitress filled a glass, she had to lean across the table, over the food and over the guests to do it. JUST LEAVE THE WATER ON THE TABLE. It was ridiculous, as was the need to find a staff member every time someone needed their wine glass filled. Either leave the bottle on the table or make sure you are paying attention to your customers and their needs. This place does neither.
Service was slow, our waiter was abrupt and impolite and the overall feel was like sitting in someone's half-finished kitchen. The food, when it finally arrived, was delicious but the overall experience of rude and stupid staff and an utterly charmless interior means that I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone I know. There are so many restaurants in Sydney that deserve patronage and Babylon is certainly not one of them.
Hidden gem in the Sydney cbd! Our dishes were delicious and the interior design was beautiful. Highly recommended
Good mediterranian inspired food and good ambiance
Only hiccup was the Pitt St mall alarms going off twice. Made it quite an interesting night. No fault of the restaurant. Amazing food. Pretty good value for such high quality meals. I picked the right spot for a first date!
Food and service excellent but too many crammed in tables too close to each other we heard ever bit of our neighbors conversation
Great surrounds and tasty food. Perfect for a catchup with friends. Service was friendly and reliable.
A lovely environment, amazing food and very professional friendly service. The food was authentic and the flavours amazing. A wonderful variety to suit all dietary preferences. The young man that looked after us was very knowledgeable and helped us choose the right amount of food so we didn't under or over order. I would highly recommend Babylon Restaurant.
We were happy about the staff, table, ambience and quality of food. We were very happy about the alcoholic beverages list and the spot-on cocktails. We were not so happy about the portions of the food.
The food here was amazing. So fresh and the flavours were divine. We had the cauliflower, tomato salad and the duck pie. The spices and flavours worked a treat. The staff were very helpful with our order. Will def be revisiting
Awesome food. Every dish was great - luckily we were sharing. Would be back in a flash
If you can go when it's not busy, this is the best option. There's little clarity about the role of waitstaff so some seemed pretty annoyed when we caught their attention for service. This seemed related to the fact that there are two levels of waitstaff, those that attend to tables and those that serve out food. This is fine, but there wasn't enough table staff on to ensure a smooth flow. The attitude of the serving out staff to being signalled so we could order, or gain access to wine already poured but waiting on a stand to be served out seems to indicate that better management of staff levels is needed in busy periods. This meant that though the food was delicious, the lasting memory is of poor management.
Food and service was OK, good value if you have a large group. The reserved tables were in a sectioned-off area, nowhere near the bar area which resulted in a different vibe.
Food and ambience was great, loved the décor - everything was delicious however the service was not great - our drinks were forgotten, our mains lamb & chicken came out before our drinks did.
Our complete order of food came out within 10 mins of each other (for 4 people) - not great for a late booking 8:30pm, we wanted to enjoy our meal, take our time drink our cocktails, share a bottle of wine - we didn't even have the opportunity to as our meal was almost over before we got our first drink. We received an apology that the staff misplaced our drink order.
Once we were winding down we then wanted to order dessert with a cocktail. The waitress handed the menus back so we could decide, then no one came to take our order. We sat for another 20 mins trying to find the waitress- we were almost ready to pull the pin and just grab the bill when finally we were able to flag someone down. I was considering a birthday dinner would be nice at Babylon however I'm not prepared to work hard for a nice meal, just want something relaxing with staff that know how to look after a table.
We went there for girls night out. Friendly staff welcome us. Decor is beautiful and feel cozy. Food was beautiful. Oysters were beautiful presented with beautiful sauce. Duck pie is must on a try list. Highly recommended to everyone who after bit different food with real flavour.
Overall one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time.
Helpful staff, amazing food, a good ambience - easy conversational level noise; will definitely go again
Love this place! The food is amazing, staff are very friendly and attentive.
Tried the Pan fried snapper fillet this time which was cooked perfectly with a crispy skin. Duck Pie is a must, as is the hummus for starters.
As always, great place to go for client entertainment!
