Babbo used to be a magical place. Exciting food. Luxurious. Now it's just another good NYC Italian restaurant. Crammed into a space so small that we had to sit NEXT to each other rather than across the table. I ended up with a neck ache as I ate my rather ordinary linguini and clams. The service was excellent. So was the coffee. And the desserts were sublime. But something special has slipped away.
Great Italian restaurant with 60s hippie music in the background and way too many servers. And this caused the noise level to be way high. But the food was awesome.
Impeccable service. The restaurant was busy and we didn’t feel rushed. Wines were exceptional
The Allman Brothers?? Blasting in an Italian restaurant? The Rolling Stones? Tastes like Tuscany, sounds like frat.
Beet salad, beef cheek ravioli, lamb -- outstanding. Service -- outstanding. Excellent in every way.
We enjoy eating at Babbo. We always order four or five pasta dishes to share., sometimes with appetizers and side dishes. Always delicious and tough for all of us to agree on our favorite pasta. The rigatoni gricia, pappardelle bolognese, pork belly pyramids, beef cheek ravioli and gnocchi. For dessert we had the chocolate pistachio cake and olive oil cake with gelato.
The restaurant is absolutely beautiful. The food delicious. Service excellent.
Food was good. Nothing to rave about. Not much of a selection for an Italian restaurant.
A great experience with exceptional food
The service was extraordinary from the moment we entered and guided to lovely table under a skylight: under the stars.
Susan: our Server was unusually attentive and shared her precise knowledge of various courses. She selected a perfect wine on the first try.
Particularly good were the Arctic char in Brodo and the Black Spaghetti with ...I am not sure. The prices were unexpectedly far lower than we expected. Certainly we will soon return!
Thank you for lovely festive evening
The food was perfect. The service was better than perfect. I will remember this meal for a long time.
We had dinner at Babbo for my boyfriend birthday
Food was good, but music selection was ridiculous. The restaurant has a classic feel and upscale elegance, yet the music being played (too loud) was bad Rolling Stones (their disco garbage from the 1980's) and other rock. I love rock. I was raised on rock. But this restaurant needs soft jazz or Sinatra. The music does not match the ambiance at all, and was a distraction.
Babbo was wonderful. It is classy, modern flavors with a touch of the old world.
Our server Manaf was wonderful, the pasta tasting menu was delicious and well worth the cost! Everything was well balanced and Manaf explained the wine pairings beautifully. We had a very special birthday celebration thanks to this meal. Thank you!
Amazing food and service!
Food was very good and service was outstanding
Perfect date night!
Although I requested a quiet table we were initially seated in a noisy area upstairs. We were moved downstairs upon my request to a table where we could sit side by side.
The choice of music was questionable - 70’s Rock !? And it was high volume.
Generally, the table service was good except for our waiter who seem irritated.
The food was excellent.
Braised short rib cavatelli, goat cheese tortelloni, followed by a grilled pork chop for two and finished with chocolate covered pistachio ice cream. The wine sommelier was able to match my wives white wine craving exactly and the cheese pairing for both pasta dishes could not have been better.
The service was excellent! The chicken was extremely salty for a couple of the individuals in our party of 4. Overall, this was a nice place. Thanks.
babbo is always a wonderful experience. don’t lose that special customer service touch pleaas
Everything was PERFECT! I come here every few months with my girlfriend and it never ceases to amaze. Our server Michael was wonderful! He was kind and attentive with an excellent sense of humor. The sommelier Evan was knowledgeable and friendly, not even slightly pretentious, which unfortunately often comes with the territory. It's a bit on the expensive side but worth every dollar! By far one of the best restaurants in NYC!
The Pasta Bolognese -YUMMY! The dessert was perfect- a peachy delight!
Amazing and very authentic Italian food. We had 2 different pasta dishes and shared the fantastic cheesecake for dessert after the waiter’s recommendation. All waiters were really attentive and kind and we had a wonderful experience. Would love to come again sometime :-)
Always the best steak in the city!
Service was fantastic! Staff ensured that every detail was addressed. Food was delicious and well portioned for value offering
Just cannot beat this restaurant for an overall great dinner experience,,,,we have been returning there for years and we love the consistency of the restaurant,,,our pre dinner drinks,appetizers.. wine and main courses were fantastic....job well done...we will be back
Heaven. RUN dont walk.
It was absolutely amazing!, the flavors were impeccable balanced, the wine was so good. The service was on point at all times. We enjoy the restaurant’s layout and decor so much. We highly recomend the Grilled Branzino and the Goat Cheese Tortelloni and for dessert Chocolate Hazelnut Cake. No wonder why the well deserved Michelin Star. Thanks!!!
Always delicious! Though sad that they no longer serve the osso bucco for two, the scallops were perfectly done, and the lamb chops were a fine replacement. The black spaghetti with crab was a terrific appetizer - flavorful pasta and large juicy chunks of crab. The bar still tuns out some of the best cocktails around (I recommend a Sazerac Rye Manhattan), and the wine selections will be ample for any combination of dishes you might have. And, definitely don't skip the dessert! The Tiramasou creation left our guests very happy and wishing for more, while we felt the Olive Oil Cake was bliss. Guess you should try them both to see!
The service was great. The noise level was obnoxious for a restaurant that is supposed to be a high end dining venue. I did not enjoy what sounded like heavy metal music. The food is not up to what it was 10 years ago. I will never go back.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. I was able to get a reservation on the same night we ate there. Some of the best service we’ve ever had at a restaurant (and we’ve been to many high end places). The food was excellent. We highly recommend Babbo; you will love it!
Another spectacular meal! This is my third trip to the restaurant in the past 30 days! The service, food , atmosphere , consistency and value are hard to match!
Service was spectacular. The food was amazing. I highly reccomend this restaurant.
A superb meal, with excellent service. The special pasta with tomatoes, which returns to the menu every summer, is smoke, fresh and out-of-this-world delicious. The whole branzino and the scallops we had for main courses were excellent, and the desserts, hazelnut chocolate cake and a warm peach “upside down” cake were amazing. If you can, sit upstairs while there’s still some early evening light in the sky. It’s a real treat - can’t wait to go back.
Great food and staff. They serve late, which we love. One of our go to spots in Manhattan.
We were seated at a table in the flow of wait staff to the tune of over 40 bumping my left elbow per minute . We were offered another table but why was any couple seated in that crowded busy table? Poor choice by the hostess. We waisted $70 on uber fairs from upper east side.if a better table was available why were we seated there to begin with? Arrogant restaurant!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great service and attention to detail from every level. Wines by the glass great, and every dish we tried was superb.
We have dined at
