Aubergine is an intimate space, with high ceilings, beautiful lights and simple, elegant decor which allows the product of creative and interesting food to shine. The food style is contemporary, however there is always a classic background to our ideas. The kitchen is supplied by local farmers and benchmark suppliers that understand that rather than we tell them what we need we prefer for them to tell us what produce is at its best on the day. In turn that means that our menu is updated daily. Our wine list has won numerous awards and has over 500 labels of interesting and classic wines. It shows the same philosophy of using local and smaller growers that produce interesting wines for us to get excited about.

Enjoyed a great meal at Aubergine - quality service, tasty interesting food and a lovely wine. The cold soup starter was a standout dish.

Fantastic food and great service but we thought that the wine was very expensive. They should have some cheaper wines on the menu.

We've been to Aubergine several times but this last time was the most spectacular. All of us agreed that the food was the best we'd had and we were very impressed by our wine as well. Service was impeccable as always. We'll definitely be back!

Very disappointing. Service was very amateurish. Had to grab a waiter so we could order wine (this some 20 minutes after arriving). The person who took our wine order admitted to being new and to knowing nothing of what is an excellent wine list. Later it was only the quick action of one of the diners that prevented the waiter topping up a glass of white wine from a bottle of red. There was an extremely long wait to order & then have dessert served, about 1 hour in total. We were informed, this was caused by the presence of a large table of diners in the restaurant. In a two hatted restaurant claiming to be Canberra’s finest, this level of service is unacceptable. The food was very patchy in quality, some courses were excellent (the appetisers & 1st course), some average and a couple were very uninspiring. As far as the environment was concerned, the air conditioning struggled to cope with a full restaurant meaning we felt too hot for most of the night. We were left somewhat bemused that this establishment boasts two hats when so many frankly superior establishments don’t even rank one hat.

Exquisite food and wonderful service. A real treat and worth the money. We paired wine with the food and the sommelier was knowledgeable and engaging. The best restaurant in Canberra hands down!

Beautiful but I went with the matching wine option and ended up rolling drunk. Not what I would call responsible service of alcohol but very nice wine and food.

This restaurant is a bit out of the way, but well worth the drive. Food, service and wine were all excellent. We had a great night.

I had a fabulous birthday meal, not knowing quite what to expect from each course; they had a set 4 course menu , where you would select a dish from a number of choices on the menu, at first that seemed enforced but in fact it added to the quality of the experience as you stepped through from start to finish....all the dishes worked really well and were just right. My partner is a vegetarian to see the creativity and celebration of the veg was a joy . Each course had an element of surprise not quite knowing what to expect which added to the tantalising taste each dish had to offer. Eating at Aubergine was a memorable experience; I recommend at least the standard wine pairing, ( if you enjoy both food and wine ) where the sommeliers shared the food journey with the wine companionship , taking the time to explain their choice. The note I ended on was the burnt butter ice cream and milk infused lemon myrtle a sensational creation leaving a lasting impression and longing to have some more ...

My husband and I loved Aubergine. The room provides a warm, cleverly lit atmosphere and is not too noisy ( something hard to find these days!).
The food was delicious and we enjoyed the fact that it was not 'overworked'..... clever combinations of interesting, tasty ingredients. ( tho my husband would have liked more salt). The accompanying wines were well chosen and complimented our food choices. Excellent explanations/descriptions by the sommelier. Service was attentive, efficient and friendly. Definitely recommend Aubergine.

I hadn't been to the restaurant for about three years, and the price has risen.
I did enjoy the food as I did in the past. I had the pork as the third course, but it would have been better for me with less fat. Portion of each dish was just adequate. I would go again should there be an opportunity.
