Aubergine is an intimate space, with high ceilings, beautiful lights and simple, elegant decor which allows the product of creative and interesting food to shine. The food style is contemporary, however there is always a classic background to our ideas. The kitchen is supplied by local farmers and benchmark suppliers that understand that rather than we tell them what we need we prefer for them to tell us what produce is at its best on the day. In turn that means that our menu is updated daily. Our wine list has won numerous awards and has over 500 labels of interesting and classic wines. It shows the same philosophy of using local and smaller growers that produce interesting wines for us to get excited about.

Aubergine Ratings and Reviews
Went to Aubergine for a date night. Very attentive service and food was excellent. Although menu selection was small, all of the choices seemed sumptuous. The canapés presented prior to the start of the meal were a nice surprise. The seating was a bit cramped and therefore the large amount of people in the small space made it a bit too hot and noisy for our liking. That being said I would 100% recommend it if you are in Canberra and looking for a special meal.
Went for our 1st wedding anniversary, the service was wonderful and the food phenomenal, a real treat.
The only down side it is pricey but worth the experience especially if you are a food lover.
Thank you to the chefs and staff for a great time keep it up ^^
Definitely the best restaurant in Canberra. Food was great, staff were friendly, professional and took pride in what they were doing.
I'll definitely come back. The only criticism (very very minor) is that we were sitting near the entrance which meant that every time people went in and out, we were feeling cold. But overall, great place!!!
It was a really enjoyable experience, not just about going out for a meal. We had so much fun enjoying the taste pairings of food and wine. The sommelier made excellent choices and was so interesting and informative, truly passionate. We will definitely return for more mouthwatering adventures!
The all black colour scheme with ceiling spot lights is a bit harsh, softer lighting at table/head level would make it warmer and more inviting, though we appreciate that this is very much a matter of personal taste.
Delicious food and an especially knowledgeable and helpful Sommelier helped make this occasion special. We could have done without the constant interruptions by a member of the wait staff asking us if our current course was good though. The temperature in the restaurant was chilly (but we are from Queensland!) but warmed up as the restaurant filled.
Amazing food, though portions were on the smaller side. I didn't leave hungry but felt like I wanted a little more. The wine matching was worth every dollar and very informative. The restaurant has a nice setting but was a little loud, it didn't interfere or ruin my experience. It was perfect for date night/birthday.
Overall a good experience, however i found a lot of the dishes to be strikingly similar to Quay restaurant in Sydney... with a noticeable decline in quality, however if this doesn't bother you and for around half the price it's not a bad meal. Desserts were overly sweet with little contrast in flavour (still wonderful but being known as Canberra's best fine dine restaurant I had expected better).
Service had wonderful knowledge of the extensive wine list and could not be faulted. Food came out in a timely fashion with just enough time to digest in between courses.
Excellent meal - well balanced, innovative, tasty. Excellent duck and melt-in-your-mouth belly pork (tender, moist, tasty and not too fatty). An extensive wine list with some small and unusual wineries represented. Excellent service, unobtrusive yet observant and attentive. A slight negative... the restaurant was quite noisy until the crowd thinned out a bit.
We dined at Aubergine a couple of years ago when we came to Canberra. We said then that when we come back we MUST dine there again. This time we will say the same! Service was excellent, but not intrusive. The meal- a 4 course menu with a set price- had plenty of choice, and was beautifully presented. The canapés to begin with - not part of the menu - set the tone for the evening. They were tasty, a little different, but definitely delicious. All of the courses were great. French with a twist.
Aubergine is a culinary gem tucked in a small parade of shops in the Canberra suburb of Griffith. The staff are polite yet friendly and extremely professional. The ambiance is surprisingly intimate despite high ceilings.
The meal is a mandatory 4 courses with choices of entrée, main and dessert but a fixed chef's starter. There is also an accompanying wine course.
There are Japanese influences throughout the menu. The lamb is to die for. The capsicum sorbet is adventurous.
