I always enjoy coming to AU79. Everything was great, the baked eggs were amazing, and everyone else enjoyed their eggs benedicts and other orders.
The only issue was they had no orange juice available on Mothers Day. Three people at our table (table of 6pax) wanted to order orange juice but the juicer had broke on Saturday. I would have thought as a simple resolution and back up plan, that someone could have popped to Woolworths before they opened on Sunday morning and purchased some small bottles and explained to guests as they had been, that the juicer was broken, however we do have some bottled OJ available. That way people understand but appreciate the efforts of something else. I realise it is only orange juice but I saw a number of tables being advised the same thing so I think something so simple could have been handled a bit better.
Anyway, I had my delicious coffee so wasn't bothered, just had to listen to the three people that were for most of the breakfast.
I’ve always enjoyed this restaurant and come here very often with friends, but this time, service was very different than what we’ve being used to. We had a couple in our group who was late, but we got the table and ordered drinks and received some complimentary bread. We liked the bread and decided to order some more and the waiter asked us where was the rest of our group. A table with 5 people waiting for 2 other people. And we were happy to pay for it. But the bread took forever to come and only arrived after we asked another waiter. When our friends arrived, we ordered the food which was good as usual, but by then we were not feeling as comfortable with the wait staff. Which is a pity as we love the place. Hope they can improve in the future and understand that delays happen. The restaurant wasn’t super full, so it’s not like we were keeping the table.
Love the place, the food , the staff and reasonable pricing
A fabulous little find in Abbotsford. The crab scramble eggs was so good. Looking forward to my next visit.
Lovely place with great food and atmosphere. Good idea to book in advance to get a table too.
So happy to find this restaurant on OpenTable walking distance from our house being new to the area and big fans of brunch. We had a late brunch in the afternoon so it was quiet but this meant we got a really nice booth in the back that was made even more pleasant when they closed the door and put the aircon on as it was a very hot day. At one point there was an issue with the volume of the music but overall the playlist was very impressive. More importantly, the food! I had the softshell crab burger in a charcoal bun - this was a delicious combination of crunchy, spicy and creamy. The fries were also good although served without sauce initially I received aioli to dip them in which was great. My partner had the Big Breakfast which was definitely large and filling - his only disappointment was that the toast came dry but he soon received butter after asking. We followed this with the Bombe Alaska waffle (hey, we were celebrating!) which worked really nicely as a dessert - I am glad I didn't order it for my main brunch dish - although didn't appear to have much ice cream in it. Drinks were very reasonably priced and whilst service could be a little slow (it took a long time to receive an Aperol Spritz, which the staff were apologetic for) overall we were happy and will certainly return.
Great place to bring kids. We had a group booking of 8 which had 3 young babies. The venue was spacious enough to park 3 prams! We folded the prams up to not take up space, however the staff were great and did not make us feel unwanted.
Great food and service.
Best not have it possible to make a reservation online for a day you are not open for business. even worse to then reconfirm that reservation and have us turn up to a closed and restaurant.
Loved everything about this place from freshness and quality of produce to ambiance.
The first time I visited this place in Nov 2018 we had a very good breakfast
On 9th Dec the food was terrible - the scrambled eggs were bland, the greens were not seasoned the toast pale
I honestly thought this was so disappointing - I suspect they have many chefs and the quality of the meals depends on who is on
Got seated without a problem. Ordered and all came quite promptly. Food and coffee were very enjoyable. The true service came when one of us left our lunch phone behind. Went back to retrieve it and staff helped to look for it at table with much success! Service and beyond.
Lovely venue with a great menu. We were seated up the back and the sun was very bright overhead. If sun sensitive, you may need a hat.
Very loud environment, especially as the music kept getting louder the longer we stayed. AC was blasting and reflecting off windows that made us a little chilled.
However, the staff are attentive, the decor is pleasing, food and option variety is wonderful. This place is great for large groups with easy access.
AU79 was fantastic when it first opened, I have been many times since and unfortunately I am finding each time I go the food quality and choices are slipping. My toast was not toasted, my chorizo almost burnt so very dry and hard to cut, the 2 fried eggs where overcooked and tiny. My fellow diners also complained. One had the salmon and said it was tiny and the 3 arancini balls where over cooked. the side salad as sad, with just a handful of leaves and thinly sliced radish.
I doubt very much I will be returning, 3 Bags Full offers more variety for lunch and quality is better.
Lovely brunch food (which came very quickly). Very well made Aperol Spritz. Wait staff friendly but not intrusive.
Great Venue. Caring and efficient staff. Good menu
Great ambience, delicious breakfast options and convenient parking on street or next door car park.
Up market, trying to be super cool and trendy. But does being trendy mean the abandonment of life time breakfast favourites. Apparently yes, it does. Imagine ordering a side of tomato with breakfast to find it is, without warning, a cold tomato salad. Ditto when ordering the salmon - turned out to be salmon moose, quite nice but unexpected and not at all so described on the menu. In fact the new menu (different from the menu on the web the day before upon which we decided to go there) did not even list bacon as a side or as part of any breakfast.
Eggs served rock hard. imagine a place selling breakfasts but does not carry marmalade ! Weird.
Went to AU79 with quite a few expectations the food was very bland with the presentation and the seasoning. This spring menu is very uninspiring and not much for vegetarians. The presentation was very lacklustre and at best average. The coffee was decent but the cookies and deserts seemed a day old. What is great about this cafe is it’s beautiful space and decor and good for large groups. Also on a public holiday I agree, charging 10% surcharge but then make sure you are providing service and food for that that values worth. Hope they read this review and take it as a positive criticism and try and get better.
Decor is really lovely, and the presentation of the food is very instagramable! Staff are friendly
Delicious food and drinks, highly recommended. Great service and beautiful set up, love the abundant greenery
Staff tried to help us and resolve the issues which have been raised with us.There are some room for improvements to become more kids friendly.
Very yummy food, great ambience, great service, love the decor, can't fault anything!
Came here for a work lunch and the wait was extremely long. Food was ok. Service seems to be faster on a weekend despite it being busier. The waitress allocated to our section requires customer service training. It's not ok to be talking and ranting about people in front of other patrons.
Friendly staff, connoisseur coffee selections, basic coffee good too!
Lovely place for catchup with friends. Good wheelchair access and nice and quiet in back area. Unfortunately hamburger meat not great.
The ambiance and interior decorations are great, very very photogenic I would say. Love the green plants, they are so beautiful and refreshing. The coffees are amazing... I love cafe's with high quality, good taste coffees. It's unique place for a date or friends get-together. Some foods are conventional which is fare enough (like many cafe's have big breakfast, beef burgers, etc... they do taste good)... the corn polenta cakes are very tasty, do you guys use the secret recipe for that?
