Askal was fantastic! I was there to catch-up with a friend. I always wanted to try it out but the booking system says it's only available to two or more. It's exactly what it says - elevated FIlipino food!

We came into Askal with a high expectation and the chef has proven why their approach in serving Filipino inspired dishes that reminds me of home while also making new memories. My husband had hesitations at first with some of the ingredients but he was impressed from a former chef’s perspective how the fusion was different and magical. We came back to celebrate Father’s Day and had the best time. Highly recommend for anyone to try their food at least once, because it’s going to be one of the favourite. Looking forward to the seasonal menu changes.

For my husband’s birthday we had the pleasure of dining at Askal, and I can confidently say that this is not your typical Filipino restaurant. While it honors the rich traditions of Filipino cuisine, it adds a creative twist that makes the dining experience truly exceptional. The service was attentive and friendly, with staff who were eager to share the inspiration behind the dishes and ensure that every guest had a memorable experience. Their enthusiasm for the food was contagious, making us eager to explore more of the menu. Askal has mastered the art of blending tradition with innovation, offering a fresh take on Filipino cuisine that is both exciting and comforting. It's the kind of place where every visit promises something new, making it well worth returning to time and time again.

Thanks to Michael and his team. Food was top notch, the crew were lovely and the place has a minimalistic, industrial charm. Extra points for the Santo Niño at the front door, my mum would be proud.

We had a great time at Askal. The place was very cosy. We tried some of our favourite Filipino dishes and Askal did not disappoint. The meals were meticoulously prepared and very delicious. Chef Ralph even prepared the rum blazed Leche Flan in front of us. Such an awesome experience. We enjoyed all but the Wagyu Beef claypot rice blew us all away.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at Askal. All the staff were very warm and welcoming and we received excellent service. We had not been to a Philippine restaurant before and this experience exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed the flavours of all the food, particularly the coal roasted sword fish and the sweet potato ukoy. Thank you to everyone at Askal for a wonderful birthday celebration. Will definitely be returning in the future.

The food was nicely presented, but it wasn't particularly remarkable for the price. The restaurant was cramped, offering little privacy as conversations from neighboring tables could easily be overheard. Additionally, if you dislike food being handled without gloves, this place might not be for you. However, the service crew was commendable, very friendly and informative about the dishes. Overall, I found the restaurant overrated and very expensive (PERSONAL OPINION).

Celebrated my birthday here last night with my husband. We had a lovely dinner feast. We ordered the following: Sinuglaw na tuna and lapcheong King prawns with alavar sauce Pork jowl and Abolone sisig with chicharon Berkshire Pork belly Humba Tutong Silog Champorado Our top faves are the prawns and sisig. The chicharon was sooo good! I also loved the cocktail Mango Claro which is creatively inspired by a Filo classic dessert mango float, delicious! Their Askal Lager was a great pair with all the dishes. Thank you Askal! Proud Filipinos here having this amazing Filo resto in the Melbourne CBD.
