Beautiful day! I was so happy to celebrate our first day back at restaurants with artisan, and they are handling the new restrictions with grace and class. Their garden dining is so ideal
Thank you for dining with us, we thrive on making our guests safe in the ideal setting, hope to see you soon al fresco!
First of all we are so happy that restaurants with outdoor seating are open again. Everything was great from start to finish. Michele took care of us. She is very nice and was very attentive. We were all trying to figure out how to wear the masks and eat, drink and talk to the staff. It is a beautiful place to enjoy a meal. We had spring crudités,beet tartar, super food salad and soft shell crabs. Then finished off with Meyer lemon panda cotta and cappuccino. Complements to the kitchen staff. We made a reservation for next week too.
Great restaurant. My meal was delicious though a tad dry. Service and ambiance all super.
Excellent from start to finish! Waiter was so nice and very attentive!
We are regulars at Artisan in Southport. We happened to be in the Hartford area and decided to try Artisan's other location. It was wonderful. The food, service, and ambiance were outstanding. Will be back whenever we are in the area.
We appreciated that the artist and it’s now one hour play house on Park Steiny partners!
We were going to meet friends but they were not well so we enjoyed our evening with the exception of the music feeling pretty loud and we had a hard time hearing one another.
Beginning to end superb
Atmosphere was good, service was very good.
Food was good, appetizers fair.
The table for two was in the common dinning area which was pleasant but was near an opening in the wall which some patrons felt was a great shortcut to the rest rooms - that was not great for me.
The entire meal and dining experience were just about perfect. Superb and high quality food in ample portions. We had the price fixe lunch with wine. The wait staff and service was on point with the best restaurants we’ve eat at. The small touches and details from taking the order to presenting the appetizer and entree dishes and serving coffee and dessert was impeccable. The dinning room is lovely with a hand painted wall featuring Jurassic sized figs and fig leaves that projected a fresh, chic and modern vibe. This was our first time and will not be our last.
If service includes LAZ Parking valet service on property, then this is my score.
They attempted to not let us leave the car until we paid in advance. Pretty awkward in subfreezing whether not intending to stand outside and underdressed for this outside occasion.
Restaurant GM reminded me that LAZ is a third party and they had no control. Hmm...
I'm more unhappy about this as opposed to kids who were not trained properly in the meaning of 'service'.
We paid later as we had no cash.
I expected more.
To start of with, the drinks were absolutely outstanding. Unfortunately that was the only redeeming part of the night.
The server seemed to ignore us for a majority of the night, leaving us without drinks for dinner, and was often no where to be found. The food was cold. I had the lamb osso bucco, it was cool, not even room temperature. The squash was under seasoned, though the rest of my dish was tasty it was too cold to enjoy thoroughly. My husband ordered the hanger steak, it was under seasoned, the arugala salad was under dressed, and the pomme frites were over salted. His entire dish was also room temperature. I wanted to enjoy this restaurant because the drinks were phenomenal, and the restaurant is beautiful, unfortunately the service and food were subpar, making it a place I would never return to again.
We loved the food, décor of the restaurant. It was nice that it was quiet. We absolutely will be return for more of your wonderful cooking. Thank you so much for the oysters (on the house) … very yummy.
Valentine Day fix menu was outstanding.
Artisan is located within the Delmar Hotel in West Hartford. We went in Feb for Valentine's Day and enjoyed a three-course menu for $75 each. The menu options were creative and plentiful and the food was prepared nicely. We both opted for the cocktail shrimp which was prepared like a fresh salad with grapefruit and avocado with a delicious dressing. Hubby had the NY strip steak which was excellently prepared and devoured I had the scallops prepared great and grits which were okay but a little bland. The vibe was festive, the indoor murals carried the garden theme and around the bar the casual side had a brick paver floor and the dining side was quieter and romantic. Parking was valet and the hotel was very busy so it took a while to get out but the lobby was beautiful with lots of major art for viewing so it was nice to take it all in. I liked it enough to be back in the summer and will try to grab an outdoor garden table.
My wife and I ate lunch at the Artisan for Valentine’s Day. The lobster roll was great and the ambience was excellent!
The food is excellent and the service is outstanding. It’s quote pricy but if you are okay with spending money on a great meal you won’t be disappointed.
There are a handful of dining experiences that I would rate perfect: Roy's Kahana Grill on Maui, Au Pied de Cochon in Montreal, any Daniel Boulud establishment, and Artisan, in of all places, West Hartford, CT. My youngest son, who lives just a few blocks away, wanted to treat me for my birthday and made the selection. We were dressed down a bit and decided to sit in the bar area near the wood-burning fireplace. It was not noisy and the extra heat felt good on a cold February night. Mark, our server, was attentive, friendly and helpful with suggestions. I started with the seafood chowder, which was full of flavor and piping hot. We both ordered the lobster fra diavolo over house-made fettucine, which was superb, with just enough of a spicy bite. We also ate every slice of the warm, freshly-baked bread. My son wanted to order another tray of it, but I asked him to hold off for dessert. That was a good move. He enjoyed two scoops of chocolate gelato while I indulged in a contemporary take on a banana split, placed in a waffle basket, the bananas done foster-style and topped with the requisite sauces and house-made marshmallows. He told them it was my birthday, so it came out with a sparkler and the dish decorated with "Happy Birthday." My dessert was on the house. No wine or drinks because he had an early flight and I had a long drive back to New York. If I have to nitpick one thing, the cappuccino (which Americans usually serve way too hot) could have been slightly warmer. In other words, it really was a perfect meal. We will come back for a bigger family affair when our travel schedules align. Kudos to all who work at Artisan for creating a memorable evening.
Food was great but service was horrible..
A gift card made our visit possible but the food was absolutely amazing. If money is not an issue, I highly recommend a visit.
Ambiance and service was fantastic, the dinner was quite enjoyable
First time for lunch, and the prix fixe menu was delightful!
Lovely - after being served a delicious brunch, the wait staff left my friend alone to chat. We felt no pressure to buy more food, or leave.
Great food and service
The food and service are impeccable. The noise level is minimal and the venue is beautiful. You owe it to yourself to try this phenomenal restaurant!
Beautiful dining room
The food was outstanding! My only complaint was that I specified in the notes online and to the hostess when I arrived that it was my daughter's 25th birthday and was told they would put a sparkler in her dessert. But dessert came and no sparkler. I was so disappointed.
This was my wife and my second visit to Artisan. We could not have had a more enjoyable experience. The service and food were outstanding and the ambiance is sophisticated without being stuffy. I look forward to a return visit.
The portions were incredibly small unless you get a steak. The food was delicious but I would definitely consider this a very special occasion.
All I can say is that this was the most disappointing meal I’ve ever had. Given that it was New Year’s Eve, I should have called first to see if they were serving their regular menu or a special one. Unfortunately, it was a special $75 per person fixed price dinner. However, I would have been ok with that if the portions were decent. That was not so unfortunately! The appetizers on the menu were minuscule and esoteric to say the least. The entrees were not any better. I order sea scallops and received 3 medium size scallops with grits. I will give Artisan credit for the dessert because the sampler had several nice tastes to it. But overall, this was a very terrible value. One drink apiece with tax and tip brought the total tab to $228. I don’t think the meal was worth even half that! I doubt we’ll ever go back to Artisan again.
Wow! Such an elegant atomism here! The best brunch we’ve had. Definitely our new favorite spot! We ordered the assorted muffin basket (which is amazing for only $7!) and the artisan burger, petite steak and eggs, and Parisian crepe as well as assorted gelato for dessert! A MUST GO!!
For Christmas dinner... much too long of a wait just for our dessert..... food was ok nothing special...our reservation was for 1:30 and we were still at the restaurant at 4 pm waiting for desert...at that point we asked for the desert to go and the check, disappointed.... restaurant was not very busy... will not go back...
The quality of the food was amazing! There were so many outstanding choices on the menu that it was hard to decide, so I certainly plan to return in the near future. It definitely is in the top three restaurants in the W.Hartford area.
Just not up to the standards we expect for fine dining in West Hartford. Very long wait for our table of over 1 hour. There were empty tables in the main dining room when we were seated, plus people waiting for their food. Then the food was sub-par. Salad was mainly chopped lettuce with very little dressing. The Lobster Fra Diavolo was mainly claw meat and little of it in fettuccine. Hangar steak was very grisly with lots of tendons making it uneatable. Would never go there again. Something is NOT right there.
Awesome evening on Christmas Eve - good was very impressive. Great local spot. Parking makes no sense - it’s a lot, but yet it’s valet. But besides that it’s worth the trip a can’t wait for the seasonal menu change.
Everything hit the mark. Waiter was exceptional. It was a delightful 80th birthday.
Great meal. Beautiful restaurant. Service was very slow.
Olivier the maître'd was welcoming, courteous and very helpful.
The food was excellent and our waitress Michelle was fabulous. She was knowledgeable about everything on the menu and provided excellent service.
Service was excellent!! My server, a young gentleman, along with the sommelier and the rest of the team, were just outstanding. Food was fenomenal. Got the foie grad and the lamb osso bucco. For dessert, we got the chocolate tart ganache. Everything was very tasty, not too salty and the dessert, surprisingly wasn’t too sweet, which I prefer. And portions were not birds food portions. It’s a very classy and fun restaurant to splurge, once in a while, since you get what you pay for. I definitely recommend!
Delicious food, attentive service, lovely interior!
