Artisan - West Hartford
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE OUTSIDE IS FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASED ON THE RESERVATION TIME.
Beautiful dining room
The food was outstanding! My only complaint was that I specified in the notes online and to the hostess when I arrived that it was my daughter's 25th birthday and was told they would put a sparkler in her dessert. But dessert came and no sparkler. I was so disappointed.
This was my wife and my second visit to Artisan. We could not have had a more enjoyable experience. The service and food were outstanding and the ambiance is sophisticated without being stuffy. I look forward to a return visit.
The portions were incredibly small unless you get a steak. The food was delicious but I would definitely consider this a very special occasion.
All I can say is that this was the most disappointing meal I’ve ever had. Given that it was New Year’s Eve, I should have called first to see if they were serving their regular menu or a special one. Unfortunately, it was a special $75 per person fixed price dinner. However, I would have been ok with that if the portions were decent. That was not so unfortunately! The appetizers on the menu were minuscule and esoteric to say the least. The entrees were not any better. I order sea scallops and received 3 medium size scallops with grits. I will give Artisan credit for the dessert because the sampler had several nice tastes to it. But overall, this was a very terrible value. One drink apiece with tax and tip brought the total tab to $228. I don’t think the meal was worth even half that! I doubt we’ll ever go back to Artisan again.
Wow! Such an elegant atomism here! The best brunch we’ve had. Definitely our new favorite spot! We ordered the assorted muffin basket (which is amazing for only $7!) and the artisan burger, petite steak and eggs, and Parisian crepe as well as assorted gelato for dessert! A MUST GO!!
For Christmas dinner... much too long of a wait just for our dessert..... food was ok nothing special...our reservation was for 1:30 and we were still at the restaurant at 4 pm waiting for desert...at that point we asked for the desert to go and the check, disappointed.... restaurant was not very busy... will not go back...
The quality of the food was amazing! There were so many outstanding choices on the menu that it was hard to decide, so I certainly plan to return in the near future. It definitely is in the top three restaurants in the W.Hartford area.
Just not up to the standards we expect for fine dining in West Hartford. Very long wait for our table of over 1 hour. There were empty tables in the main dining room when we were seated, plus people waiting for their food. Then the food was sub-par. Salad was mainly chopped lettuce with very little dressing. The Lobster Fra Diavolo was mainly claw meat and little of it in fettuccine. Hangar steak was very grisly with lots of tendons making it uneatable. Would never go there again. Something is NOT right there.
Awesome evening on Christmas Eve - good was very impressive. Great local spot. Parking makes no sense - it’s a lot, but yet it’s valet. But besides that it’s worth the trip a can’t wait for the seasonal menu change.
Everything hit the mark. Waiter was exceptional. It was a delightful 80th birthday.
Great meal. Beautiful restaurant. Service was very slow.
Olivier the maître'd was welcoming, courteous and very helpful.
The food was excellent and our waitress Michelle was fabulous. She was knowledgeable about everything on the menu and provided excellent service.
Service was excellent!! My server, a young gentleman, along with the sommelier and the rest of the team, were just outstanding. Food was fenomenal. Got the foie grad and the lamb osso bucco. For dessert, we got the chocolate tart ganache. Everything was very tasty, not too salty and the dessert, surprisingly wasn’t too sweet, which I prefer. And portions were not birds food portions. It’s a very classy and fun restaurant to splurge, once in a while, since you get what you pay for. I definitely recommend!
Delicious food, attentive service, lovely interior!
Awesome as always!
The Food was Fabulous!!! I LOVE that Super Food Chopped Salad with Salmon. I ordered the Salmon medium rare and it was PERFECT!!! The decor is very classy! The Service is very attentive! The experience is wonderful in all categories!
The overall experience was poor. Parking with a $5 valet charge is not necessary.
Preferred the bar area over the dining room. The menu offering was good but the pricing was very high for the quality.
In particular the Piedmontese beef was terribly overpriced and of very poor quality.
Service was satisfactory but not great.
At no time did a member of the management team come by the table to check on our dinner service etc.
This is a beautiful, elegant restaurant.High quality food and service...the experience was wonderful...like we were dining in an upscale restaurant in NYC !!! Thank you for this wonderful place right here in West Hartford 💗
It’s a solid spot. I prefer it when the garden is open in the summer as the real value is sitting outside in the garden for dinner. It would be nice if heat lamps allowed a similar experience in cooler months.
Excellent food and service
We dined here for Thanksgiving. As always the food was very good. They had a decent fixed price menu to choose from. A bit on the pricey side. Ambience always very nice. Still annoyed by the $5 charge to park your car, especially when paying $100+ per person for dinner.
It was a wonderful place with great service and staff!
Excellent. Was 100 percent pleased across the board. All five guests in my party agree. Thrilled to discover to discover this gem.
As usual food delicious service excellent
Very poor customer service. I made a reservation 2 days before. They called me next day to confirm and later called to notify me that my reservation for 2 would be in the bar area and not the dining room. Requested to speak to manager who was extremely unprofessional and condescending. He told me that they contacted me out of courtesy so that I wouldn't be disappointed in staying at the bar area. When I informed him that I made my reservation for 2 on opentable, he told me that reservation was only made 2 days before and that opentable did not know that the dining room was full. Later on they called and told me that they had a "cancellation " and would now be able to accommodate my reservation. Nobody apologized, they did however indicate that they were doing me a favor by calling me
Can’t be better that this. Excellent service and people. Will definitely go again!
First time. Lunch/brunch time. Food choices are interesting. Staff seemed pleasant, our server solicitous and helpful. Our reservation was made online, confirmed by a restaurant call where we were told we had been placed in the tavern. We had not requested a location but the tavern is a nice spot. Our bartender was subdued, very little interaction. Located in a hotel, Artisan has a “captive” audience it seems, and I think more could be done to elevate it to outstanding. Everyone and everything seems subdued. I’m not looking for a big band and performers, but I think more consistent enthusiasm would help a lot. Don’t know the menu well, so our choices are the first tastes. I prefer my avocado toast with spread avocado, not sliced. Still, I’m more than willing to return for another try.
We always like to to eat at Artisan. It is always
Salad was unpalatable. To much vinegar.
crispy duck wasn't crispy (no skin)
So-so value for the $
My husband and I showed up on time for our 8pm reservation. We were told they were running a little behind but that we could grab a drink in the lounge. 20 minutes later we asked for an update after seeing two other groups of people being seated; we were told our table had just gotten dessert. After waiting for 45 minutes we were finally offered a booth in the bar since our table was still not ready. Our server then barely paid any attention to us, never told us the specials. The only consolation was a free appetizer we were given. Very unprofessional, especially considering the hotel and restaurant are upscale.
Disappointing. Food was not special. Had the endive salad and charcuterie board for appetizers. Salad was just a basic salad with almost no dressing so it lacked flavor. Charcuterie board with pate was good. Cioppino and vegan tian for entrees- neither came out particularly hot so within a few minutes they were room temp. We just weren’t wowed by any of the food. We ordered a dessert because we were still hungry although we were concerned that dessert would also be disappointing. Got the apple cake and it was good. Maybe the menu was just too simple for us. We felt that the dishes lacked flavor/interest.
Food and drinks were excellent.
Some quiet music wouldn't hurt during the dinner.
Mark was so patient and understanding of how special this dinner was for us! The restaurant was essentially empty on a Sunday evening and it could not have been more perfect! The table was perfect, the drinks were great, and the food was sensational!
Surprisingly excellent food! Will definitely go back. A bit pricey, but the value was there given the quality of the food and service.
Went with a friend - service is always exceptional and the food is delicious and creative - very fresh and seasonal!
It is in a nice location and the inside dining room and bar area is nice.
The garden is not anything impressive especially compared to their
Southport location. The menu is not anything special. It was fine
just not overly exciting.
Everyone in our party loved the food - the salads were delicious; the Chatham cod was perfect; the chicken scrumptious; our daughter's pasta also memorable. The flavors were distinct, complex and delicate. The service was super. The room is beautiful - love that mural. And we could hear each other! Altogether a great experience.
