Tasty Italian dishes south of Times Square
In an odd location but near Penn Station, which is good for dinner before an event and quick train ride back to NJ. Food was great and the staff was very accommodating. I will go back.
Excellent food, lovely room, service was a little rushed.
Superb italian food. Great for business meetings.
Food was delicious. Prices are typically overpriced as everywhere in NYC. Staff was excellent.
Delicious food, best gnocchi I’ve ever tasted! Attentive service without intrusion
A tasteful, formal northern Italian restaurant with good food, attentive service, reasonable noise level and fair prices! Plenty to choose from on the menu. A good place to go with people you want to talk to and have an enjoyable meal:)
Always a good meal with good service and a varied selection of menu choices.
This restaurant was just okay, nothing special especially for the price. Salad was soggy. Entrees were good. Service was okay, but the attention was really geared toward bigger tables. I would not eat here again- too many amazing restaurants in NYC. Try somewhere else.
We took our grandchildren for dinner. They both had pasta primavera and we had seafood risotto and veal scaloppine. The food was absolutely delicious and all of us found great choices on the dessert cart. We could not have asked for better service. We will definitely come back. Ext time we’re in NYC.
Waiter was not very attentive. One of us ordered pasta with vegetables and got pasta without vegetables but waiter didn’t check back in a timely manner so she just ate it. It was an OK dinner.
Nice that we could get in same-day on a theater night. But the food was mediocre for the most part. The burrata special was definitely not special; very dry and flavorless. Fun banter with the waiter kept the evening worthwhile.
Arno is an excellent restaurant. I have been eating there for years.
Old style Italian near Penn Station that promises much but delivers little.
It's hard to pigeon-hole Arno Ristorante, as its neither all good or all bad. I arrived early for my booking and received a very grumpy and dismissive 'welcome' in what was a near-empty restaurant. Once seated, service was initially efficient (bread brought and the sparkling water I'd requested served) but after that glacially slow.
Once my guests arrived, it took an age for menus to appear and then for orders to be taken. We were never offered a drinks menu, so we didn't order any. Once we'd ordered, the starter we'd ordered never appeared.
The food itself was reasonable - not great, by any means, but at least adequate in quality and reasonably well presented. The restaurant was moderately busy on the day in question and very noisy (I don't mind that) - and hence the hit and miss service was totally inexcusable.
Would I go back? No.
Food and service were both amazing. Definitely will be returning.
Food was average. Our waiter wasn’t friendly or too accommodating. It was almost as if he couldn’t be bothered serving us.
This was an 80th birthday and 60th wedding anniversary celebration. The service was perfect, attentive but not intrusive. Food was wonderful, the special was what we wanted. We were seated close to a window so we could see the city and people. It was early so not a lot of background noise which was helpful for some of our senior members. This was a memorable meal.
We visited NYC from Dallas, Texas.
We found everything at ARNO's to be fantastic.
Extensive wine list, fantastic food flavors, professional staff.
White table cloth service, I give you stars for sure :)
I would highly recommend you try this place.
I will definitely stop by again next time I visit your fantastic city!
When we made our original reservations through open table they asked if it was a special occasion, we said it was our anniversary, our 44th anniversary. What a beautiful surprise when they brought us over a delicious piece of cake with a candle in it. When we got home we took a peek at the receipt and realized that beautiful surprise was on our bill. They charged us $10.20 for that surprise. If I was ordering dessert maybe I wouldn’t have ordered that. I felt a little taken because I thought it was sweet and considerate and then I realize they charged us. They took the sweetness away from that delicious dessert.
It was an 80th birthday celebration. I had a halibut special that was fantastic and my husband had a veal parmigiana. Shrimp cocktail was delicious and cheesecake for dessert. Beautiful restaurant, waitstaff was attentive but not hovering. We will go back if we are ever in New York again.
Wonderful staff. Incredible food. Outstanding taste. Beautiful restaurant. Best kept secret in mid Manhattan. BTW, Carlos Perriera, manager was a warm and charming gentleman worth the visit any day or time. Must place to request a reservation for all diners looking for the best in Italian food in NYC
Una experiencia expectacular!!!!
Have had dinner here many times. Food is always excellent.
But the service is what keeps us coming back. The waiters are old school and they enhance the dining experience
We love Desi! He is so personable and really knows the menu. Always remembers what we drink and order or he will make very good recommendations.
Highly recommend for any type of occasion.
Great food great service! Will definitely go back.
My favorite old school Italian Restaurant.
Wait staff was great. Hostess not so much. Food was very good.
Great food & service - best Italian on the west side
Our waiter was really friendly. I would recommend people to take waiter’s recommendations if they are not sure about the meal. We walked out full and happy :)
It’s excellent food and was packed. It’s expensive for lunch.
We found a discrepancy between the prices on the website and the actual menu prices. All items were 6 to 8 dollars more when we got the menu. This made this restaurant very expensive and there were other choices that provided a better value and better food.
The quality of food was just ok, I had the rosemary broiled chicken and it was dry and over cooked. My wife had the mushroom pasta and it was good, but the pasta was a little sticky. he flavor of the sauce was good.
The service was good but the waiter was very stiff and reflect old style reminiscent of the 60's.
Arno is a wonderful place to go for a pre show or post show dinner. Excellent service and food, located within walking distance to the theater district. We have dined there several times and have not been disappointed.
Host was very rude and made us want to leave before even sitting down. But service was good, meal always good, will certainly go back but admittedly not our best experience at Arno.
I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The potato-leek soup was amazing and the Bibb lettuce salad was refreshing. The table was split on the monkfish – one person thought it was great, but another felt that the tastes didn't quite mesh. Everyone loved the flat iron steak. Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable."
A coworker/friend recommended Arno because it was en route to Penn Station and I met my husband there. We were both in great moods when we arrived. That didn’t last.
My husband and I started at the bar which wasn’t crowded when we were there. I ordered an expensive drink and the bartender used a measurer, which was fine, but it was the end of the bottle and she hadn’t filled the measure. She served my drink and never topped it off. On top of that the drink cost $40.
We had a reservation for a table and saw a table near the bar that we wanted to move to. We asked the bartender to let the host know and she actually said “You need to go tell them yourself. If I do it for you I’d have to do that for everyone.” It’s not as if the host stand was that far from her - plus the staff was constantly at the service bar and she should have asked someone to help.
We eat out a LOT and usually sit at the bar so we are very familiar with the difference between good and poor service. This was rude and unprofessional. Management should set better expectation for behavior. If it’s too busy - get another bartender.
The manager happened to come over and was very friendly and outgoing. We liked him and feel he has the right intention.
Our food wasn’t bad - not memorable. Service was good but we felt rushed. We would have had coffee and dessert but were too annoyed.
Good service desi was great
Relaxed, yet very attentive service
Food was great.... Loved that our waiter sang happy birthday to my cousins daughter. Our waiter had a great voice and great personality. Will definitely be going back
Wonderful old school Italian. Everything was top notch.
Son’s 15th birthday
We were in the city for the weekend. An Italian friend in Brooklyn recommended Arno and we were not disappointed. The food and service were fantastic. Authentic northern italian cuisine. Every waiter I spoke to was from Italy. I would definitely return and recommend it to my friends.
