Excellent food. Tableside preparstion. Tremendous liquor and wine list.,Friendly staff. Been there 3 times. Greeted by owner every time
one of the better spots in the City--Mr. Aretsky is a pro.
Great food, servers, nice ambiance and friendly all the way around. A tad bit expensive but in its class and in New York by comparison to others price was on par.
Stephan, Stephan, Stephan, what else can be said of this special man!
Great experience. Only issue was the noise level - it was very loud. Would definitely return for business or social lunch, or just for a drink.
Class act midtown restaurant. Ken Aretsky still takes good care of his guests. Popular place, so Noise level at lunch can be a problem.
Exceeded every expectation. My new New York “go to”
The service, from the maitre d' to the bus boy, was outstanding. Everyone was friendly, accommodating, and professional. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary, and the restaurant took appropriate note of it: romantic table, good wishes, and a candlelit dessert. My husband took advantage of the Friday night prix fixe, and we both enjoyed the Friday night jazz. The food was good but not great as one would expect from the prices. The chef seems to decorate every plate with some form of greenery on top of the entree. It fills up the plate yet detracts from the main item. I would have preferred larger portions without green garnishment. Our personal taste is for simple food that is not gussied up with sauces or mixed with other ingredients so that none of them are distinguishable. We had a lovely dinner in a very pleasant atmosphere. We just would not be running back for the food. Give us filet mignon without way too salty bacon, and your nicely crisped duck and wild rice separate from each other, please.
Patroon never disappoints. Jim and Katie did a wonderful job tag teaming the service. We wanted for nothing. Jim did a fantastic job with the table side Cesar salad (really the best in the city). Same for deboning the Dover sole tableside. Katie went out of her way to arrange an off menu Milton chocolate cake desert so hats off to her and the pastry chef for going out of her way for us too!
It’s always nice to see Mr. Artsky at the restaurant. Friday night jazz was a nice added bonus to our dining experience. My only comment would be that whereas it’s nice to have an attentive staff, it was a little too much. We had 3 different staff members come to our table in 10 min period to ask how we were doing.
The specials today were fantastic!
Noisy at first but got less noisy as tables emptied. Saw Mr. Aretsky, looking very dapper.
Rare find in NYC. Roof top dining and/or drinks. Superb. Pricey, but worth it. Get there on early side for cocktail hour.
Everything was great. Service was prompt, friendly and helpful. Food was very good and reasonably priced for the area and quality. Setting in both dining room and on the roof deck were great as well. No complaints and would certainly consider going back.
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening here. Service was wonderful throughout, food was outstanding, the place was bustling (maybe a bit too much, it was rather loud), the seating and lighting was comfortable...absolutely nothing to criticize. Crab cake appetizer was excellent, the duck entree and my sirloin were both delicious, perfectly prepared, the japanese eggplant side dish was rich with flavor, and we enjoyed beignets for dessert, complimentary as we were celebrating our anniversary. Yum.
Best Duck I have had in years.
What a great find! I can’t wait till we get back to New York to dine here again.
Great food and service
Stephan and Jody always make dining at Aretsky's special. Thanks for this memorable evening.
The food has gone way downhill. The staff is sub par. We will likely not go back, which is a shame because it was a good option in the neighborhood at one point.
One of the best! From the warm personal way you are treated to the fabulous food, Patroon is truly a gem in the city. The halibut is my favorite.
Sorry for the delay in writing this review… We had just left their roof top terrace after a PlumpJack wine tasting (very nice up there). We were a little early, but were seated quickly. The staff was attentive from the start. The food recommendations were spot on and the sommelier’s wine recommendation (I was a little concerned going in) was on point. I have added that wine to my favorites (sure I went out and purchased a few bottles). The owner even came around and introduced himself to a number of patrons. While you will spend a few dollars, you will be happy when you walk out. Everyone was focused on our food, drink and experience. Well done! Thanks!!
Excellent food — lamb was perfectly cooked. Service was extremely attentive. Great venue for business dinner as well.
Fabulous food, first class service and a wonderful experience. Thank you Stefano for a perfect evening.
I absolutely recommend Aretsky's Patroon. I have been going here for years and the food has always been extraordinary. The menu is varied enough to entice all foodies, and everything is fresh and delicious. The grilled salmon is delicious with an outstanding yogurt sauce. A vegan friend had a tofu dish and said it was the best she had ever tasted. Ambience is lovely, the service is wonderful, and the restaurant boasts an excellent wine cellar.
Consistent fantastic experience. Food, service, ambiance all terrific. Also, excellent drink value and outstanding wine list.
The duck was amazing and diced tableside. Staff was great and the owner personally introduced himself to us and made us feel welcome. Great place for entertaining clients.
Superb meal and service. Nice to be able to hear ourselves think and talk. Wonderful traditional surroundings.
Great dining experience. Very special sitting on the rooftop bar.
Delicious food, lovely surroundings and staff that treats you like the regulars you hope to become. Expensive but worth it.
Professional. Food well prepared. Classic fare
The new pastrami spice rubbed ribeye (for two) with pickles and poutine on the side is a dream. Eat of it gently and take much home where its flavors will deepen each day.
I was lucky to have found this place a number of years ago and used it as my wedding venue. Every time I am in NYC I make it a point to come back. It’s nice to see some familiar faces, as well as some new ones. The quality of food and the service of the staffs at Patroon trains fantastic
We loved this place! Out of the way location, wonderful decor, incredible attentive service, and everything was well prepared and delicious. The rack of lamb was especially notable. Perfectly prepared and beautifully plated. We will look forward to coming again!
As my daughter and I were celebrating her birthday at Aretsky's Patroon, I looked around at other tables where diners were enjoying their dinners. It was hardly an accident. The place could not bee better run add delivers superb food at absolutely fair prices. Memories are great and Aretsky's Patroon is now creating its own. I know that in years my kids and I hope grandkids will speak of Aretsky's Patroon with the same reverence that we used to speak of Christ Cella's, which previously occupied this space. The world has improved a lot since then and dining at Aretsky's Patroon reflects the improvements of noiseless air travel over a rail travel without sacrificing any of the charm.
An oasis of calm in east midtown, a great spot for a business lunch. The bar is the secret spot, unless you're there to notice or be noticed.
Incredible restaurant and staff in a city filled with great restaurants. Trust me, you will not be disappointed. Great food, great staff, great ambience!
Excellent food and service. Seating a little tight and noisy.
