Andrew Edmunds is our favourite restaurant in London. Great food and a perfect, cosy ambience.
Everything was perfect. We all really liked our waiter, very personable Scottish guy. We didn't catch his name but he made the night. Not many places like this left, we have to love them.
The food was absolutely fantastic and the service is particularly exceptional!
Super ambiance avec une cuisine comme à la maison mais en mieux avec une superbe carte des vins
Lovely food, and very friendly attentive service. We were downstairs, slightly cramped and noisy, but a nice occasion nonetheless
Great food and service
Good for pre theatre
We will go again
Excellent restaurant, great food, fabulous service. Can’t wait to go back
One of the best value wine lists in London and inventive food. The service is always friendly. It is quirky, not luxurious but I have been there about 10 times and I love it. You have to get there early if you want their daily specials but otherwise I couldn't rate it more highly. One of my favourite London restaurants.
Great food, very welcoming and accommodating service, and good wine too.
Amazing atmosphere in the basement, very attentive staff and food is exceptional. Definitely coming back!
Very enjoyable evening, good value for money, although small created a close and intimate setting, food was very tasty and would definitely go again.
Great food, wine list, ambiance and service!
An institution. Superb
Amazing as always. I’ve been going over 20 years and it’s always outstanding in every respect. Love this place
Great place excellent food and wine list very friendly staff
Excellent as usual. Menu variety was a little more limited than usual. It was a bit quieter the usual too, maybe becausr of it being a bank holiday week.
Our server was very good, attentive without being overbearing.
Lovey meal, great food and service. What’s not to like here!
Fabulous food ... always!
Service and atmosphere ... perfect!
Another wonderful visit!
A concise but attractive menu produced an excellent lunch. Not a pretentious but a very enjoyable restaurant.
Our food was delicious and the wine list was perfectly curated. A real taste of soho.
My first visit to Andrew Edmunds for what must be nigh on twenty years and though the bar is smaller, the loos are smarter and the kitchen is upstairs now nothing that really matters in the feel or style of the place has changed one iota. Which is all to the good! Wines are still fabulous value for a Soho eatery at ? simple 100% mark ups. For maybe £32-33 we drank an excellent Alto Adige Gewürztraminer that was clean, mineral, limey and fresh - terrific with the hake, aioli and chips and with the dressed crab that preceded it. For £6 more you can enjoy a decent glass of Pedro Ximenez with pud that will send you into raptures. Where else in London can you do this? Knowledgable friendly service, old Soho allure, great food. And those wines... I must come back and drink some D'Yquem....
What an absolute find! A fantastic restaurant with exceptional service, divine food, awesome wine list and terrific ambience all at amazing value. The main guy in the downstairs restaurant was first class, knew his wines and provided excellent customer service without being obtrusive. We will be back and I would give it 10 out of 10, so highly recommend. A wonderful start to my 50th birthday celebrations!
Amazing atmosphere and authentic cuisine. Great spot.
Really excellent evening. Jolly and just enough personal attention.
Oh Gosh! I’m in two minds - if I write a good review will I be able to get a table there again, but a negative review would be selfish and unfair.
I took my partner there for her birthday and every element was really fabulous. We met in the John Snow pub around the corner for a pre-dinner drink and arrived a bit early which was no problem for the staff at Andrew Edmunds.
One Kir Royale the other a Negroni before we ordered. Negroni was perfectly proportioned unlike an expensive and poor experience at Le Gavroche a couple of years ago.
I always judge a place on the quality of the bread and butter - I knew we were in for a great journey.
Our starters - one burrata and the other a cod roe dish were perfect.
As soon as my partner had finished her Kir Royale the champagne I’d ordered arrived.
There was great attention from staff in this and many other respects.
Gnocchi and Lamb main courses were beautiful. When the ‘Gnocchi’ arrived it wasn’t Gnocchi at all and the swiftness of correction was immaculate with a genuine apology. Lamb incredibly tender.
We had a lemon posset and chocolate mousse (with birthday candle, yet not too much fuss) which we shared 50/50 with fine Muscat.
We were never rushed or imposed upon by too much acute service. The staff there were brilliant, conversational, yet unobtrusive. And fun.
Even before the main course arrived we were discussing when we could visit again and bring friends.
Fab atmosphere! Energy and style.
Thanks so much
Hi - as a regular to the Andrew Edmunds, I am continually impressed by their consistency in service and quality. The restaurant is small which means being a little cramped/close to other customers. But the service is always excellent. The menu changes every day which means it is very different each time but nonetheless never lets me down. Will be back in due course when I have my pennies again. Thanks
Small menu but well cooked food. The one veg on offer (cabbage) did not go with all the main courses. Really varied wine list and something for all budgets. Food prices were average for London. Very friendly staff but thought they looked really under pressure and needed extra help. We had one of the best tables but some were a bit crammed in and had a lot of traffic going past. An enjoyable evening overall and we would go back
Excellent food, service, atmosphere. A soho institution and rightly so
I took some foodie pals here, they loved everything, but not for the first time we were bothered by the ambient noise, not surprising really as it is quite a tight space. Don't get me wrong here, this is a fabulous place, fantastic food, and superb wine, the ambient noise just means I talk less and focus on the food and wine.
Friendly service and an interesting menu featuring good British fare - imaginative but not gimmicky. Portions were generous and the food was very well cooked. The restaurant is quirky and characterful and well located. Very pleasant evening.
Very nice, restaurant good food en vary good en frendly service
Had a great dinner wonderful ambience, perfect service and friendly staff.
lovely people - very helpful with our limited time available but service location ambiance were excellent, food was lovely, with good wine selection. Will go back for sure.
Great meal! Great service! stunning wine list! I will definitely be returning.
We were the last table on a Sunday, but I did expect better. The steak was cold and when we mentioned this the waitress insisted it had just been rested as if we hadn't eaten steak before. We sent it back and because it was end of day, they wouldn't make another one. The other dish we had was fantastic but was sadly overshadowed. Starters and wine were great and overall ambience was lovely. Would try again during more mainstream hours.
The fish is nice. A good place for a long chat - we syayed there for almost 3 hours.
Wonderfully delicious food and lovely service, we weren't rushed out the door which is so refreshing! A real gem which I will visiting again.
Upholding a vision of Soho which is rapidly disappearing, I was pleased to escape the scorching heat into the dark-panelled recesses of Andrew Edmunds' dining room. The lunch menu was small but perfectly formed, and though we didn't stray far from the house selections on the wine list these did not disappoint - the house champagne was a particular delight. My friend and I talked our way through a meal of roasted aubergine with smoked ricotta, smoked mackerel tail, skate wing with capers and marinated peppers, and bruschetta with British mushrooms and a gorgonzola sauce; all with excellent service and in most convivial surroundings. Try it for yourself, and I hope to see you when I return in the not-too-distant future.
Brilliant restaurant in the heart of Soho / West End. Food was delicious and the service impeccable. The only thing was that the restaurant was a bit hot inside as it was a very hot Monday evening. We will be going back.
Brilliant atmosphere, gorgeous food in this Soho classic. Braised squid was fabulous, also the Polenta and the crab -all paired with a lovely and good value Riesling. Service was charming and personable - when our servet spilled a quince bellini, he brought another and comped the lot. I don't know why I am writing this, it will just make it harder to book.
