My family and I recently celebrated my sister’s birthday at Amber and it was truly a wonderful experience. Food was amazing. The whole degustation menu was excellent. Every dish was well thought off and flavour was truly exceptional. The staff was attentive and respectful, not like other fine dining restaurants in HK who will force you to pay for bottled water (which is very tacky). They gave my sister a lovely chocolate birthday cake which we all shared. Thank you to the whole Amber team for making our meal and her birthday a memorable one.

Absolutely magnificent food and experience of the highest level and quality, a memorable meal. Food was spectacular and lots of techniques and balanced shown, lots of attention to detail with great wine pairing. The only negative was the fact that many of the dishes did not demonstrate key ingredients in its pure form but it came in a gel, foam, mixed in or sliced up. Overal beautiful food, flavours and restaurant.

Ausgezeichnete internationale Küche, die eine sehr keine überbordende kreative Handschrift zeigte - dadurch passt das Essen gut für alle, die sich nicht unbedingt auf extravagante Geschmacksexperimente einlassen möchten. Ein gediegenes Ambiente, eine ausgezeichnete Küche und ein stilvolles, internationales Service wie es in Hong Kong auch zu erwarten ist.

Amber is a Michelin two star venue at the Mandarin Oriental in Central District that has long been considered one of the very French restaurants in Hong Kong. Interestingly, what many don't know is that Amber offers a breakfast serving (7.30-10am) each day, something you wont often find with high calibre restaurants like this.

We recently visited Amber for breakfast and were pleased with our experience, finding the service to remain at the very high standards and the food to be very good. During our meal we ordered a Taiyouran eggs with hash brown, served with a side of bacon strips, smoked salmon and toast. We also ordered the Egg Amber - an Eggs Benedict served with asparagus tips, serrano ham and slivers of black truffle. Both servings tasted about as good as breakfast can!

Coffee served with breakfast was Illy brand but we found it to be too weak for our personally liking. As a positive it didn’t overwhelm the breakfast foods, but for the prices being charged, it would have been nicer to have had a stronger coffee.

Note: While it is advisable to book lunch or dinner at Amber weeks in advance, this doesn’t seem necessary for the breakfast serving period. We reserved the night before and found only a handful of other diners the next morning. As such, reserving the day before appears to be fine and you might even be able to turn up and find tables available as a walk-in guest.

In the end, you pay a fair amount to dine at Michelin restaurants and the breakfast period is perhaps is the most challenging for the kitchen to impress. Kudos to Amber for opening up their doors this early and providing top notch breakfasts during these early hours of the day. We very much enjoyed ours and look forward to trying them again breakfast in the future.

What a great restaurant. It was simply exceptional. It deserves its top 100 restaurant in the world rating. Can't wait to go back next time I'm in HK.

Presentations were nice. But after a food trip to Italy, the dishes lacked freshness. It could be just the produce have been flown in. Overall service was ok, but could have been much friendlier. Boisterous next table with ladies flashing jewelry (and buying much less dishes) seem to be getting more attention that an unassuming couple like us. But to be fair, the service is still better than most restaurants. Overall dishes were quite inventive and use of flowers and natural produce was great.
