Amber is a unique experience with the tapas style dishes. The full experience gives you the ability to receive unlimited small plates and drinks for a maximum of two hours. It is a little bit pricey, however it is worth it. The food and drinks were very good and the service was quick. I will definitely be returning.
The tapas sized portions are awesome for trying a lot of food and a very diverse menu that covers a ton of options! The almond crusted chicken was amazing!
The flavors are unique and uniformly wonderful. Every dish was sensational.
The best food ever! Loved the small plates! Will definitely bring friends!!
The $39 Balkan experience is just great for dinner. Unlimited small plates. Standouts include cheese pie, mezze, stuffed pepper, goulash, creamy mussels. We sat in quiet third floor which is less glamorous but private
Not what it used to be…….We haven’t been to Ambar since before COVID-19. The renovations were lovely, but the menu has changed and some of our favorites were no longer available. Some of the items we ordered were fabulous (goulash, salmon, stuffed peppers), others were in dry or overcooked, such as the meatballs and steak and frites. Other items were tasty, but drowned in heavy sauces that detracted from the item, rather than complimented it. The service was just ok, several times we had to try to get the attention of our waiter, as he was busy chatting with co-workers. What used to be an outstanding experience was only mediocre. As we travel an hour get to the restaurant, we aren’t likely to return.
Bottomless brunch - food and drink - is an amazing deal! The food is delicious, and there's plenty of it... you'll be stuffed! Service is friendly and amazing as well.
Wonderful place, ambient atmosphere, amazing food and the service was prompt and courteous. I would definitely return.
We went to Ambar Capitol Hill to show our out of town guests Balkan cuisine. We'd enjoyed it before at Ambar Clarendon and in the Balkans. The unlimited menu was a great way for us all to try lots of different things. We loved our seat upstairs by the bar as it was nice and quiet for much of our early evening Friday meal. Our waitperson Courtney was very helpful with food and beverage selections. The best surprise was a wonderful birthday confection for our birthday girl. She is new to DC and will definitely be back.
The outside area was packed at 7 on a Thursday night. If you want outside seating be sure to note on reservations. The indoor seating is large but separated within multiple rooms. We sat upstairs in the back and there were empty tables between the tables filled with people. Servers wore masks. They suggest each person start the order three items. You can add more as you go. Things are brought out as they are ready and intended to be shared. Although for soups and goulash this is not practical. Favorites were stuffed cabbage, Balkan kebab, spicy sausage, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts flat bread that was pizza like, veal soup, steak tartar (believe it or not),. Def worth unlimited cocktails. Honey raki and Slovenian sparkling wine (not included in the drink deal) were very very good. Sorbet was just ok. Drunken muscles and lamb lasagna also just ok. Overall nice experience and would def go back. It’s expensive, but unique.
Lots of fun with wonderful choices. The food is good and spaces are adequate.
Awesome food, love the new menu. Drinks are strong and the service is fast!
Great experience! Every single thing I ate was delicious! Drinks were just like I like my man…. Nice and strong!
Outstanding Mediterranean food, we will definitely go back! Loved the brussel sprouts, beef goulash and shrimp dishes!!
The food was horrible! There were definitely items that were old or not cooked completely. The server was very slow in bringing our food and was being rude if we asked questions about the food. The unlimited drinks were also very sub-par. The prices were way too high for this horrendous experience to be honest, and it is wrongfully overhyped!
Lovely cuisine but quite expensive for types of options on brunch
This place is amazing. All the small plates are just the right size so you can try so many different things! Also - get the mango lemonade beverage.
The server was great. This is the first time I’ve been there since the remodel, and I don’t feel that you are quite back to the same standard, but given how much other restaurants are struggling, you are doing fine. I will be back.
Do the tasting menu - great value and the food was amazing.
Great food. Good location. Lots to do afterwards if you want to “walk your food off”
Great all you can eat/drink brunch. Food was excellent. Drinks
Great food & service as usual!
Delicious food, and wonderful service. We ate outside, and had no problems feeling comfortable with the radiators and heat they supplied.
I recomend this place for brunch only. I came here for late lunch and the service was horrible. It seems their brunch crew is on point.
Amazing food. It's unbelievable that unlimited small plates is only $25/pp. I would have happily paid twice that. The food was excellent. We didn't have a single disappointing dish. Plenty of variety.
Was not aware of the change to “all you can eat in 2 hours” as the only menu option….it was fair pricing, just be sure you’re hungry! Have always loved the delicious food and small plates format - would have liked the choice of just a couple of small plates. Food very flavorful but several dishes were served warm not hot….
The food was pretty bland and not great service. They ran out of one of the tapas we ordered and never told us. We also never got a few tapas that we ordered. It was extremely warm in the restaurant which made it very uncomfortable so we didn’t even bother to have them bring the forgotten tapas out. I was here pre-Covid and had a much better experience. I’ll be picking somewhere else in Barracks Row next time.
Wonderful experience as always!!
The price of the lunch Baltic Experience is great. I only wish the evening price wouldn’t continue to increase. Two increases in two years I believe. But regardless— still love Ambar!!
We have loved and supported this restaurant for the 7 years we have lived here. We have celebrated many occasions and while I wrote we were celebrating 2 birthdays there was no special dessert which was typical in the past. We asked for a dessert menu because they no longer serve dessert in the experience and we never received one. We loved this place prior to it becoming overly popular because we’ve seen differences in amounts of food being served, service subpar, and overall not as pleasant as an experience.
Wonderful experience. Our server Tamara, was lovely, helpful in explaining menu, and just a delight.
Good delicious food in a nice environment.
The food was great! However we were sat about 30 minutes late, and then still expected to conform to our original reservation limit. Further, when we raised the issue with the manager, he was willing to hear our complaint, but had a serious attitude and almost blamed us for the fact that they were not able to keep our reservation.
We had a nice brunch here after a race in DC. It got pretty cold on the third floor when they opened up the skylights
I was very disappointed that I listened to our server who recommended the Balkan Experience sampler for lunch. The “experience” was a few interesting dips, a lot of bread, a flatbread, a couple of sausages, eggs, and waffles for dessert. I should have gone with my original plan and ordered the goulash, but the waiter made the “experience” sound so interesting. It seemed more like they were emptying the refrigerator.
Awesome for groups and birthdays. We had a great dinner and our server was so attentive.
Great food and excellent service. We sat outside on a beautiful evening and enjoyed the delicious small plates. We will definitely go back!
This place is unreal!!! So good!! Will go back a million times
It was my birthday and we had such a great time!
I usually come here for brunch but today I was met with nothing attitude and poor service. They ran my credit card for more than the amount and I had to go back in to find someone to correct the mistake. I’m taking a break from this place for awhile.
