The hostess was aware of our reservation. We were seated upon entering. Our waitress was very efficient in getting our drink order and patient while we tried to figure out what we were going to order for our meal. Our food came in a timely manner and the waitress checked back to see if everything was as we had expected it to be. She was also very helpful in helping to pack up our leftovers. Most importantly, we did not feel rushed to leave. The only difficulty we experienced was the noise level at times made it hard to hear others in our group.
The food was fresh and creative, really delicious. The service was outstanding. Drinks and atmosphere were good too. We were really having a great time and then the music started. I liked the songs and the musician but this is a small place with horrible acoustics (concrete and metal walls). Even before the music started it was hard to carry on a conversation but the music was so loud (even after they were asked to turn it down by others) that we could not hear anything including our server or each other. We felt like we needed hearing protection. It really killed the evening. We watched as at least 3 sets of guests arrived and left without eating or drinking -- it was simply too loud. This is on the way to being a really fun new restaurant in downtown Albany but their music should be acoustic guitar and they should hang some things on the walls to soften the acoustics.
Our first time to the restaurant, the waitress patiently went over the menu options, which were a little confusing, and offered some great suggestions.. Her service throughout was attentive yet non-intrusive. The food was excellent with a wide variety of choices.
Absolutely! The food is fabulous. We drove down from Halfmoon to have the jalapeño corn muffins particularly. I love a restaurant that serves something you can’t find anywhere else and you can’t easily replicate. Our service was good and the atmosphere was lively. Quite a few tables had kids, but it was 6 so rather early dinner on a Saturday night and understandable. Had to pay $10 for parking across the street after going around the block a few times looking for a spot. Overall totally worth it. Also the chips and salsa are amazing and very different too. We shared tacos, chicken and beef variety. Love the small sizes. After chips, salsa, and cornbread, we didn’t need much and left with containers. Our go to for Mexican by far! Best in this area, hands down.
Food was awesome!! We started off with queso and chorizo / homemade chips. For dinner my wife had street hash which consisted of diced potatoes peppers chorizo and spices. I had a taco 6 pack 4 beef 2 scallop. We also split and order of street corn. Street corn was some of the best I’ve had! Tacos were full of flavor. Everything came out fresh and hot.
7:15 PM reservation arrived a bit earlier and were seated immediately. Our wait person began to apologize for the "rush". After taking our drink orders we waited for nearly 20 minutes for our drinks our appetizers were good. Ordering for dinner was a bit challenging as every choice I was making seemed to be unavailable for the evening. Will definitely go back .....Love the food ! Just a very busy evening
Love the food.
Fun and delicious!!
We had a nice time. They were pretty busy and the waitstaff May have been slightly overwhelmed. The tables were somewhat small and very close together, so we couldn’t help but nearly participate in nearby conversations. It was over all very good quality and enjoyable, just crowded and somewhat loud.
They have some of the best enchiladas I've ever had. Just try to avoid the drinks, they tend to be overly sour
The food was good, but the service (for the second time) was not great. We didn’t get our drinks until we were almost done with our meals, and we ordered an app too. Our waitress didn’t come to check on us at all, so we needed to stop and ask another gentleman for hot sauces- he had an accent and seemed to do a fantastic job.
The only other time our waitress came over was to drop off our bill, they rushed the food in and out so we took our time sitting there with our drinks (we just got them) we were going to get another drink, but the waitress still hasn’t come back our way so we decided to pay the bill and try the bar instead. It wasn’t 15 seconds that we put our card down and the waitress came back to grab it.
We went to the bar where the service was great. This is the second time I’ve gone and the wait staff have been standoffish or missing in action.
Went for Valentine’s Day. Very glad we made a reservation as the restaurant was completely full. The chips and guacamole were excellent. The ceviche was a bit untraditional but very fresh and delicious. Our entrees including several taco options, Mexican street corn, and the nacho pie. While some of the tacos had a bit too much going on, all of the other items were exceptional. Will be returning soon to explore the rest of the menu. Do recommend.
Always a favorite to go at anytime for any occasion!
The service is always top notch!
Terrific food and atmosphere!
The food was mediocre and overcooked, but it’s relatively inexpensive. The service was terrible, our waiter was slow even though the restaurant was more than half empty. It took a long time to get refills of water, sauce, drinks yet we could see him in the kitchen joking around with other employees.
The employees are awesome!! The food is fantastic!! I wish they had more beer selections that aren’t craft but we love it here!!!
beans and rice were tasteless . The popcorn served before the meal was weird. the quac was NOT fresh . Meh
The tacos were delicious, with very unique flavors. Can’t wait to go back and try more!
Izzy and David were awesome. After dinner, my buddy and I each got a flight of tequila at the bar and they helped us figure it out. Can’t wait to go back.
Our waitress was wonderful!!!! The margaritas and food were delicious! I can’t wait to come back.
Word to the wise -- this place is VERY cold in the winter. Us and all diners around had winter hats and coats on. Though the food is good and our waitress was great, it's hard to enjoy your experience when it's soooo cold. We were about as far away as we could get from doors/windows but still. I'll return in spring.
The food at this place was great! Delicious, authentic and lots of choices. But I will not go back until summer. This place had NO HEAT when we went on a cold Saturday night in November. The inside of the restaurant was the same temperature as outside, and everybody was eating in heavy coats and hats. They need to turn to the heat on sooner in this place, otherwise it's not suitable for dining during cold months. Will definitely return in the warmer months though.
We had to dine with our coats on because it was so cold, so it made for an unpleasant experience. It was really cold in there, so cold that it made the experience un-enjoyable. The food was not very good, I'd give it a 3 out of 10. Service was very good, we were fortunate for that.
Everything seemed heavy on the lime. The corn tortillas were thick and mushy. The queso fundido and chips were great; the best part of the meal.
Only downside for an otherwise fantastic dining experience at AMA, as always, was that it was cold when we first arrived. Heat kicked in ad Nd it was better by the time we were done.
Saturday night - it was crowded! Food was super, service a bit slow but not horrible! I would 100% go back.
Great lookin restaurant, staff was wonderful, sadly food and drinks were subpar for the cost. Pitcher of margaritas that were low in alcohol and heavy on lime. Tacos were soggy and cold but the time that hit the table.
Great service and equally great food and drinks!
The quesadilla hardly had any cheese. The entrees came before the drinks.
Didn’t realize there would be live music. Very loud. Hard to hear conversation
Very slow service on a busy night. Duck tacos were inedible. Pork taco was only okay. Good service.
Tickets at the palace
Seated in poor section when we were there early, before any rush. Asked to be moved - place was empty - they did not accommodate. Said we need to request main dining area on reservation. Had friends in main dining room who said they didn’t request any such thing. Food is always good. Service was subpar. Long delays in between waitress checking up on us for drinks, food took forever. Have enjoyed this place other times so won’t give up.
The restaurant was very disorganized. Service was very slow. The food was not worth the price.
Amazing. Got the pork carnitas rice bowl with Christmas sauce. Absolutely recommend!
I love the positive energy in this restaurant . The staff is always pleasant and willing to work with any request. Their food is always top notch. By far my favorite place to eat. If you go you must have the street corn and a margarita 🥰
food was great but it's much to noisy. we could not hold a conversation without shouting.
The food here is in credibly good. The service was attentive, although when our server was not actually serving us we were left without plates for appetizers. But that’s my only criticism. Everything else was fantastic.
