My husband and I went to celebrate our anniversary. The photos of the restaurant on the website are highly deceiving. There are no white tablecloths, and it looks more like a diner with booth seating. Our anniversary was not acknowledged in any way. It took 10+ minutes to get the bottle of wine we ordered, with the server explaining that only two people know the system for locating a bottle, and she is not one of them and could not find one of them. We ordered what we wanted to be a three course dinner: 2 appetizers, a pasta to share, and two entrees. The crispy meatball appetizer was very good, as was the pasta, which they split for us. However, they brought the entrees less than 5 minutes after the pasta, so the rest of our food was sitting on the table getting cold while we ate the pasta. The entrees were very generous portions, but nothing special. We were so disappointed that we left without ordering dessert.
My wife and I sat at the bar on a Friday night. We split a salad, had a couple appetizers, and split a pasta dish. The food was excellent! We had a bottle of Barberesco, which was reasonably priced, especially for the casino !! Jeff was our bartender, he was outstanding, very helpful and personable. We have been to the casino many times but never tried this restaurant. We will definitely be going back !
Melissa the server was excellent. One of the best Caesar salads ever!
We had written that it was a birthday celebration, but no one acknowledged it. Kind of sad. Food was good, service was much better.
We dined here this year because we had such a great experience last year. Well we should have left it at once. The food was basic and the prices for the amount of food, especially the sides and appetizers was ridiculous. $11 for 7 spears of asparagus? And this is supposed to be a shared side according to our waitress. $16 for approximately 15 of the smallest calamari I have EVER seen. The steaks were ok, but I've had better for less. Will not be coming back here for our annual new years dinner again. P
We made a reservation for NYE for 5:45 as we had a concert at 9PM. My wife and I arrived and were seated right away. We looked over the wine list and menus. We ordered apps. I had a shrimp cocktail and my wife had fried eggplant. The shrimp were fine but could have been larger. My wife loved the eggplant. I also tried a bite and it was excellent. Highly recommend this.
We then ordered dinner. I had the bone in rib eye and my wife ordered a pasta dish called Maltagliotti. Both were cooked to perfection and were very tasty.
We never felt rushed and had an excellent time.
Prices are a little high but not bad for a Casino higher end restaurant.
We will be going back again.
Their gluten free pasta is the best I have ever had. Food is great! Bread for my non gluten free husband is awesome!
My son was in from London and he chose to go to Altra Strada during our mini Christmas vacation. We had reservations for dinner, but decided to get a quick drink and app earlier at the bar.
Crystal was our bartender and she was fabulous. She helped us choose just the right app and made the best martinis we have had at Foxwoods. In addition, we enjoyed our experience so much we returned 4 times during our 5 day stay.
We highly suggest the delicious ravioli, rigatoni, and calamari. We also enjoy the Monday night special...Meatballs and Martinis. We will definitely be back.
We were late for our reservation due to traffic and a delay checking in to the hotel. The hostess was still able to get us seated at a lovely table. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable (he helped us select a perfect bottle of wine). Our meals took a bit longer than typical but they were all worth the wait! Two of us had the Salmon and one had Trout. The food was outstanding. Highly recommend and would surely return again.
We had a reservation for a date night before a show. We arrived, were sat and placed our order. Nothing extravagant, just a salad for both of us and our entrées. After 45 minutes of not seeing our waiter or hearing from anyone, our Caesar salads come out. Aside from being the most mediocre Caesar I’ve had in a long time it took 45 minutes to come out. The kitchen brought them out also, so still have not been checked on by our waiter in 45 minutes at this point. Another 45 minutes passes and still no word from our waiter and no other food comes out. At this point we realize time is winding down to when we need to be ready for the show. We go to see the hostess to let her know that we haven’t seen the waiter and all we’ve received in an hour and a half is a Caesar salad. She doesn’t send a manager or our waiter over. At this point I managed to flag down our waiter and we ask for the check and left. Hour and a half and only a Caesar salad without any explanation or apology. Worst time at a restaurant in a long time and we’ll never be back.
Took almost 2 hours just to get our entrees. Literally needed to scarf down our food in 5 minutes so that we weren't late for an 8pm show. Disappointed in the slow service.
Excellent as usual! We are frequent visitors at the Foxwoods resort casino. We consistently dine at this venue & are never disappointed. Wonderful food & service!!!
The food was very tasty but not hot. Portion adequate but not generous. My husband had the salmon and was disappointed by the meager portion. Definitely overpriced.
Love the Giant Chicken!
Great food and drinks!
Service is amazing!
The food was just average. The highlight was the excellent service. The whole experience at Foxwoods is colored by the overwhelming smell of smoke. The four of us felt like we could smell and taste it even by the time we got to the restaurant.
Special occasion however wasn’t even acknowledged. Poor service. We had to ask for a chiller for our bottle of wine and by the time it arrived the bottle (self pour) was almost finished. The food was good, never saw waiter and he truly wasn’t ‘ present’ even was he was there. Expensive considering what we got...
Nice for a before show etc. - but spend the money at Ballo for a special occasion.
Good experience, appetizers were yummy, martinis were delicious, food was good, prices could be better but it is a casino so it is was it is. We would consider going back.
Very good food and service. Just beware, the drink menu doesn’t have prices...they gouged me for $25 for a Manhattan. It was a “house” drink, which usually indicates some sort of special deal. It was delicious, but seriously, $25?!?
Always a great time.
Wonderful food and service!
Great Italian menu, wonderful appetizers, delicious desserts, great cocktails. An all around great experience.
Being regulars at Alta Strada, my family and I were very eager to return. My daughter came home from college and was looking forward to getting the crunchy eggplant but unfortunately they were out of it. 10/10 would recommend if you can get your hands on the crunchy eggplant. The food is very good otherwise as well, but the eggplant hits different.
Everything was excellent, my only comment would be that I wished they had more of a selection of wines by the glass ... the menu only shows types of wine (e.g., chardonnay, cabernet, etc.) it would be nice to see some brands, especially at $17 a glass, they will, however, give you a sample before you order.
Portions were just too big. Sangria was mediocre. Service was poor. Salads came before apps and then dinner came while we were still eating salsa and apps. Place wasn’t busy so couldn’t understand why service was off.
EXCELLENT !! That's it ! If u can't find something you like on their menu, go somewhere else !
The chicken parm was excellent but could have included more pasta. I split it with a friend. Drinks were amazing! Ambiance was perfect. Service was perfect!
Excellent food, service & atmosphere for dinner with friends.
Food was good, not great. Service was lackadaisical. There was a gap of 40 minutes waiting for our food while others all around us were served, and the waiter was no where to be found. He was nice enough but absent so couldnt even inquire.
Overall, very disappointing for the price. Both salads were very good (caesar and tri colore) but pastas were pretty much tasteless. Bolognese was a significant disappointment. Absolutely flavorless bolognese (not actually sure you could legitimately call it a bolognese) and pasta with clams was at best mediocre. At $120 for 2 salads, 2 pastas and a bottle of wine, it was a significant disappointment.
That being said, service was very good and the wine (an Italian chardonnay blend) was excellent.
The seating is lovely. Very comfortable a spacious in the back. The food was good. I was disappointed that they removed the cauliflower appetizer. It was my favorite dish there. Overall, it was a great night.
the worst !!! Our server was super, the food was fine. Our $56.00 bottle of Reisling was fine,BUT, after I googled it on my phone and found out that it was a $5.99 bottle of cheap wine!!!! Ruined our evening immediately!!!! What a scam $5.99 for $56.00 What a disgrace!!! Do not go here !!!!!
The food was delicious however for the price the servings could have been larger.
Alta Strada is our favorite restaurant at Foxwoods!
Excellent homemade pastas, meatball appetizer, Chicken Under a Brick, bolognese and an outstanding Pork Chop entree.Miss the fabulous Beet Salad!
I requested a booth on our last visit and the hostess kindly brought my husband and I to the back dining room to a comfortable round booth.
We love the authentic Italian food at this restaurant, but it’s location is unfortunate.
Alta Strada deserves to be on the Grand Pequot side of the building.
We find the Fox Tower Casino chaotic, love the music but the crowd can be rowdy.
There were female teens from the mall causing drama.
So we tend to spend most visits at Grand Pequot.
But Alta Strada is definitely the best restaurant on the property.
And we have tried every one!
Wonderful experience with my wife, best friend and his wife!
THE COST IS PRICEY, BUT THAT'S WHAT YOU GET AT A CASINO RESTAURANT. DRINKS ARE VERY GOOD WITH FOOD GOOD.
Place was nice and service was great but the food was not so good. My wife got chicken parmigiana and she liked it and I got the salmon. They served me a belly section that I would have cut off for stew or to put I a salad. It was listed as having a salsa Verde but that was missing and it my have improved the flavor or at least gave it some flavor. They have to learn how to season food.
We enjoyed a quiet relaxing dinner. Our server was very attentive and personable. The bread was a bit hard and tough to eat, but understand the type of bread was authentic Italian. The fried calamari was light and delicious and cooked perfectly, we would have enjoyed a bit more marinara for dipping. The Bolognese had wonderfully delicious flavor, but we felt the portion was a bit on the small side. The salmon was cooked perfectly and served on a delicious corn salad.
Excellent experience sit at the bar and ask for Jeff or Rachel they knew all the best entrees to order.
We have visited this restaurant twice, and both times they did not disappoint! The food is fantastic & service is excellent! Will definitely return!
