Curated by Executive Chef Apoorva Kunte in collaboration with renowned cheese experts, the Studd Siblings, our new High Cheese menu is sure to delight. Paired with a glass of wine by Scotchmans Hill, Allegro Restaurant showcases Chief Winemaker Robin Brockett’s wines, highlighting the uniqueness of the Bellarine Peninsula and perfectly complementing Chef Apoorva’s cheesy creations. Special dietary requirements: Please advise if any. The High Cheese menu is entirely vegetarian-friendly, gluten-free option and nut-free needs.     Upon entering the hotel, we were met and welcomed then escorted to the lift, in the lift then into the restaurant and introduced to the maître de. The view of the street from the upstairs windows is great . The High Cheese tea was magnificent, complete with a smoking tomato tart, cheesy scones and yummy sauce, Welsh rare bit, warm Camembert, great desserts and an included glass of wine. Service was supportive, quietly performed and available when needed. A fabulous outing.

    We attended Allegro at 205 Collins St. for "High Cheese". It's like High Tea, but with a tower of cheese and a glass of wine. If you can believe it, for $105 I was afraid that there might not be enough cheese. Trust me. There was SO. MUCH. CHEESE. It was delightful. Presentation was impressive and started with a beautiful, smoke filled jewel box and a tomato cheese tart which had a much fancier name. I was offered the opportunity to film the unveil. Gorgeous, impressive and most importantly, delicious. Vinod, the Executive Sous Chef introduced each item on the tower and suggested which order to eat them in based upon which items were served hot or warm. Each cheese grouping had a suggested wine pairing. One glass of wine was included and others could be purchased of course. My two suggestions would to be to swap out at least one of the goat's cheese items for a blue and to offer an upgrade to purchase a flight of the wine pairings. It would have been too expensive and simply too much wine to drink a full glass of each of the suggested wines. Offering a $30-$50 upgrade for 4 half glasses of wine would have been fantastic. We were celebrating my husband's birthday. He was quite impressed with the cheese tower as well as the venue overall. Thanks for a lovely evening.

    The meals were really delicious - my chicken dish was perfection. We had a beautiful date and were able to completely relax before the theatre knowing we would get there on time (we booked the pre-theatre dinner). Things got just a bit loud of me but otherwise perfect.

    We visited for a special High Cheese event - the food was beautiful and very tasty with a generous serving. Service was unobtrusive and efficient. Would highly recommend.

    The high cheese is amazing, beautiful food. We had a fantastic time but there was one very annoying part. The pkg included the high tea, a glass of wine and unlimited tea and coffee. We were asked if we wanted still or sparkling water to which we said we were happy with still, expecting tap water. We got the bill at the end and we were charged $12 for water of which we had a glass each…$6 for a single glass of water! Very cheeky and leaves a very bad taste. If you’re going to charge for water but provide free tea and coffee you need to specify this.

I regret that this was not communicated clearly during your visit. We understand how this could be frustrating and leave a negative impression.     This experience is completely under rated, I don't understand why it wasn't booked out for months. The staff are so professional and lovely the service was impeccable. The food was perfection. Loved the graduation from salty to sweet. Thank you for a wonderful high cheese experience!
