One of our favourite restaurants , never fails to please .
Amazing food, service , staff exceptional
Beautiful place, small menu but good variety. Food was tasty but my husbands potato’s came frozen and had to be sent back. They were very apologetic and rectified it immediately, however if your paying decent prices for a meal you expect it to be fresh not warmed up frozen meals. Service was great, staff friendly and attentive. Little touches would make it better such as pouring the wine for us, however overall a lovely place for a date night and felt a bit more special than most places in Wigan
The tomatoes in the starter were past best. The chicken in the mains was obviously precooked before start of service and then reheated so was dry. The volcano cake tasted like it was cooked in a microwave. For premium prices, the food was definitely below expectation. There were so many people crammed into the restaurant, dining staff didn't have their eyes on the ball and we were left waiting for long periods unattended. At one point I had to actually had to leave my table to seek assistance over my warm glass of wine. Disappointed and won't be going back. For all the other lovely restaurants in the area, this place is definitely not worth the money or an evening of your time
We have been to alberts a number of times, mainly due to the location and pleasant surroundings. I went with family on Friday evening and am unlikely to go again. Our waitress (name unknown as not introduced - blonde hair) couldn’t crack a smile throughout and seemed out the game, very abrupt. Food mediocre, ie, small portion of overcooked or microwaved lamb being the priciest plate on the menu. To add to this a 10 per cent service charge for party of 6- never mentioned and totally unclear.. it is on the menu but in small gold print on black background.. blink and you miss it! Absolute disgrace, a quick money making exercise, style over substance and/or customer service.. my advice is avoid
Staff very welcoming and friendly. Our lunch was lovely and very reasonably priced. Will be going again soon no doubt.
In desperate need of a menu change. The food is always good but the menu has been the same for years
Lovely atmosphere, food was lovely and the service was friendly and efficient
Excellent service, food delicious, good choice nice vegetarian options.
Staff checked re allergies.
Restaurant and toilets immaculate.
Happy to recommend and will definatley be going again.
As ever, our Alberts experience was perfect in every way.
Everything was served in a pleasant and efficient manner. The food was excellent and I would recommend.
Alberts Standish is a quality restaurant. It is large, but still felt comfortable and intimate. The food was outstanding, and our waitress, though only on her second week was pleasant, always there when you needed her, but not obtrusive. We felt relaxed, and all in all it was a very pleasant dining experience. Prices were fair for the quality on offer.
Being a very large restaurant personally the noise level was too high for me
Lovely place and excellent staff. The food wasn’t quite as good as I expected. We ate from the lunch menu. Coronation chicken was plain slices of chicken with a tiny amount of coronation sauce hidden under green leaves that wasn’t enough to coat 1/4 of the chicken. It otherwise tasted nice. The crispy beef strips starter was rather chewy, tasted nice but very poor compared to ones from local Chinese takeaways. The artichoke / pasta main was praised very highly by my friend, the burger I had was very nice, but did think the thin fries tasted like something you would get out of a bag from Iceland. I did expect better. The desserts, well my friend had ice cream and said it was lovely, I had the melting chocolate pudding, I think it was called volcano. It was very nice. So good marks for the setting, staff and service, but food had room for improvement. Prices, well the lunch menu was £14.50 per head but with two alcoholic drinks, one coffee and the desserts extra the total bill came to £53 for the two of us. Will we go back? Yes.
Great food friendly staff 1st time we have been to alberts in Wigan normally go to worsley we definitely be going again
We were impressed with the service, although I asked when reservation was made to have a bottle of Prosecco on the table when we were seated, the day before arrival, l was asked to pay in advance?. Rather odd, as the bottle would not be opened until we arrived.
My Wife’s Burger was only Warm, and asked for this to be made known to the Chef’s, she would not send it back, and left half. Apart from that , other meals ok.
Enjoyed our meal and staff were polite. In love with the place and will definitely be coming back
Food was delicious, the atmosphere was great and the staff were friendly and helpful. Can’t fault the place.
Good choice for quality food and service, nothing at all to complain about, will be going again
Food was only warm when served and roast beef was tough
The personal attention and needs from Phillipa made ou visit more worthwhile. Great PR
Great menu choice, all food well prepared and served piping hot. Staff were wonderful - really helpful.
very good venue, layout, atmosphere, menu and food itself
Albert’s is a young, stylish, high energy venue offering a menu to match most tastes and budgets. I’m not a fan of the App system for ordering and payment. It was cumbersome for pre dinner drinks so we were pleased that our waitress too our dinner order.
Our meal was lovely, drink service was extremely slow we had to ask to order drinks on every round. Only 3 out of 4 mains arrived and no one came to check which left us having to walk over to the staff and ask where it was. They did however deduct this meal from our bill at the end. Otherwise really lovely place.
Delicious food. Excellent service, never left waiting but not intrusive. Lovely atmosphere. Great wheelchair accessible table. Will be back soon.
Everything was very good only one problem it was a cashless venue & we all had cash luckily I had put my card in but still a bit inconvenient
Fabulous meal. Service excellent. Love it. Be back soon. I will keep asking ….. please get a pina colada on your drinks menu. Will be so perfect then 😁
Very nice food and the staff very pleasant and very polite
We made a 10am reservation for my sons birthday
and arrived 3 minutes before our reservation time. We went to the main desk at the entrance and was rudely greeted and told we was to early, we were the first costumers in the restaurant so don’t know why 3 mins was to early? When it was an empty restaurant.
On arrival we asked another lady at reception desk if a birthday plate could be brought out for my son she said yes.
(It never arrived)
My partner ordered avocado toast for breakfast well what a disappointment that was. The toast was a load of soggy mushy bread on his plate (he didn’t eat it.)
We sat with empty glasses on our table for at least 25 mins we sat trying to get one of the waiters attention but did not succeed so we had to get up approach a waiter and ask them if we could have a drink.
After asking for the bill and paying we waited to see if the waiter did bring us the birthday plate she never did so we paid upped and left.
Very dissatisfied with the food and the service
The starters were excellent, but it went downhill from there. My husband’s ravioli main was miniature and dried up. I had the lamb which was gristly and the sides were oh so garlicky (not worth £24). The potato dauphinois was a little old, it seemed to have been kept warm for a while. One of our deserts peach crumble was dried up and burnt black, this was replaced foc, but by this time the evening had lost its shine. The music was very loud making conversation difficult. You can definitely get better food for these prices.
Service was fine - attentive but not intrusive. I had seafood risotto. 4 of the mussels were unopened which is always regarded as to be completely avoided. There was an apology and a replacement portion of mussels but suggested some very lax kitchen processes. The background music was much too loud and pounding club music - but I recognise that we are perhaps not their Friday evening target audience. Overall very poor. We won’t be back.
Loved my night out at Albert's Standish on Friday. Celebrated with my 9 work friends and all had a great time. The food was lovely, served in good time the atmosphere was lively and we all enjoyed a few cocktails. Will definitely be back.
There are far too many tables packed into a small space, zero intimacy if you are a table of two. The food was good and reasonably priced but I found the drinks to be expensive.
That being said, the staff were all friendly and professional.
Had a fabulous night for mum and dads 80th . Excellent food as always . The service was fantastic and our server Elisa was amazing, really friendly and made sure everything was perfect , she even sang happy birthday to my parents when they brought the cake out . Love it here defo our favourite restaurant
I love Alberts. It is great to have somewhere like this to eat and socialise in Standish
My only thing is the food on a few occasions is only just warm enough. Think it gets left on the pass to long.
Small constructive criticism that would not deter me from visiting
Enjoyed the afternoon. Maybe next time choose from main menu.
Brilliant food and excellent service. Third visit now and don’t have a negative comment.
Great business lunch, attentive staff and a very nice atmosphere on a Friday lunch time.. Well done Alberts!!
The experience at Alberts was, as usual, excellent.
What made the experience extra special for us was the superb service we received from Andrei.
He had the correct balance required of a professional waiter - doesn’t intrude too much, he had the sensitivity to realise what level of “intrusion” was required.
Not every waiter has this skill.
In my opinion a true professional.
Amazing food amazing service amazing cocktails could not complain and will 100% be returning very quick and handy service people expeshily Becky . I would deffo recommend the desert cocktails if you have a sweet tooth 10/10
