Food was good. Just a bit overpriced compared to competition. There are plenty of Italian restaurants in Seattle that serve awesome food around $20 for a plate of pasta instead of $27. I will go back. But not often
Do not go on valentines day. The set menu they had was terrible. No hostess at the front. Took 1 hour to be seated even though I had a reservation. Food was gross and overpriced. The only good thing was the desert.
The food was great, but they over booked themselves. We got an 8:30pm reservation, and because we showed up a half hour early, we were seated at our reservation time (as compared to others that showed up closer to their reservation time and weren't seated until after 9pm). The kitchen was in the weeds the whole night. Even though they were only offering a prix fixe menu with three choices per course, it took a half hour for us to get our first course, and almost an hour between the first course and the second. That is RIDICULOUS. The food is fabulous, but don't go there on Valentine's day.
Didn’t taste any more elevated than a meal I could prepare at home. Meat was overcooked, tiramisu was not good either. Did enjoy the ambiance, and the environment as a whole.
We went on Valentine’s Day which was challenging for the staff and were picky in general. Our ratings should be considered with that in mind.
Went for Valentine’s Day, 1st the limited Valentine’s Day menu wasn’t advertised so locked into buying only the meal offered. The meal offered was not designed to appeal to the broadest audience so stuck eating something I typically would never choose. The food came out tasting undercooked and rushed. We didn’t come close to finishing any of the food since it didn’t taste good and the staff seemed offended we didn’t want to take the leftovers. The drinks were the only good on the night. Overall, for $300 for 2 people on Valentine’s Day I would have expected better.
Valentine’s Day—special menu. With a scaled-down holiday menu they should have been able to prep and serve much more quickly. We came at 7 and sat until 10. People with 8:30 reservations were still waiting to be seated. Several of the dishes were downright awful, especially the rib-eye steak, which appeared to be cooked sous vide. The soup under-seasoned. The cannolis were empty in the middles. They did comp our cocktails because if the long wait. The staff was very nice and worked their tails off, but the meal was just awful and exhausting.
Typical Valentine’s Day. Over booked. Understaffed. Prefix menu with the added twist that the entire table must order and share a single entree, which after negotiations, ended up being a poor cut of grey ribeye. Extremely expensive for what we got out of the night. I don’t blame the servers, but we will not be returning.
Very slow service, above average food except the main course. From our reservation time to paying the check it took two hours. We waited nearly 45 minutes for the main course of ribeye of which nearly half it was fat. We asked for the dessert to-go because we had to leave and got home with one of them being the wrong dessert. Overall very disappointing for a meal over $300. To their credit, they tried to make it right - very nice waiter, $50 off the meal (and still over $300), gave us two glasses of wine because we went through a bottle waiting for our meal. But we probably won’t go back.
Came for the Valentine's day dinner. Food was underwhelming. Steak was cold, soup was cold. Server forgot about the grapefruit sorbet and had to be reminded after the 3rd course. Had much higher expectations considering the price and being billed as a special event. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
This was our highly anticipated first time to Agrodolce. It’s usually a rule for my date and I to never visit a restaurant on a holiday as the staffing tends to be subpar/everybody “out sick”. I am hoping this mediocre experience was due to a lack of kitchen crew because the floor staff was fantastic.
The table next to us were whispering that they microwaved everything for too long which was a shock to us as it took over an hour to get our main course.
The drinks were great and our waiter was attentive. The appetizers were nothing to write home about or taking a selfie with but I wasnt too disappointed as the drinks and ambiance made up for it.
What was egregious was the “ribeye”, our shared entree. An animal died for our sins and it was sitting on a bed of limp broccolini with Dairy Queen cherry ice cream sauce. Or maybe it was cherry teriyaki?
We could taste how beautifully the meat was dry aged but the way it was cooked and drizzled with syrup destroyed it all. Everything was dry and we had serious doubts it was a ribeye cut due to a lack of juiciness or marbling. The meat was barely pink in the center and it was tough to chew even with copious amounts of water.
We ended up having to ask for the check when the entree arrived and taking our dessert to go as we had an event to attend.
Worth the $200+ we spent for a Valentines meal?
Worth it to try again before I strike it permanently off the list in favor of the copious amounts of restaurants popping up in Seattle every day?
We went to Agrodolce for Valentine’s Day. A table was not available so the put us in the bar to wait. No problem. We were seated after a while — 30 minutes past our reservation time. During this time I noticed that the didn’t seem to know how to move out diners who had already paid.
Our dinner arrived in courses, usually lukewarm. We requested table salt because most dishes were a bit bland. We were underwhelmed by the dishes.
The high spot was the service. Our waiter was attentive and accommodating. But as I noted, the wait staff seemed unable to move people on. The table next to is finished a good 20 minutes before us, yet was still at the table chatting as we departed. The line for tables jammed the foyer — there was not room in he bar to accommodate them.
My wife and I have been here twice. This is for our second visit, which was a Valentine's Day four course, pre set menu ($90 each). I'm not going to go through each dish, because almost every course we had was fairly bland and uninspired. The truffle risotto was excellent, but the rib eye, while good, was under salted. Or if it was properly salted, it was around 75% of what it could've been.
I know this is my most negative review, and I truly want to be fair and constructive when it comes to reviewing restaurants, but this experience has the largest discrepancy between the price you're paying vs. dinning experience. We've eaten at Copine, Tilth, and Rock Creek Seafood. Those places left our minds blown with flavors I've never tasted before. I was waiting for that to happen with each course and it pretty much was the opposite.
The waitstaff was excellent, attentive, and the dish pacing was good.
Wonderful little spot. The night we went was slow and we got real good service. The fried calamari,,,octopus,,prawn appetizer was super good. So was the foccica bread which was excellent!
Traditional Italian dining experience with modern Southern Italian cuisine. Come here if you want to spend time with friends over a great meal with creative seasonal flavors, where you're not rushed out the door. Two of us shared a pasta and two small plates with cocktails, decided to stay for a second round of drinks and added an entree. Stayed over 2 and a half hrs. Everything was new, different and tasty. The chicory salad, coffee flour pappardelle, and pork loin were each absolutely amazing but I'm guessing will be replaced by other interesting dishes with the next menu change.
I don't understand the bad reviews here. If you're looking for fast, predictable, Americanized Italian food then this isn't the place for you.
Food was just okay. Flavors were good, but missed the mark on execution.
Service is perfect, but the food is notvery good. The limoncello tiramisu could have been great, but it was cold, there was no cocoa instead was some bad chocolate.
We celebrated our daughter's birthday last Sunday, January 26, and had the most wonderful server! She recommended wonderful entrees and appetizers as well as wine, and she was so pleasant and attentive! Also, the food was amazing, and the atmosphere was intimate and inviting!
Food and service was excellent. Emily was our server and was very attentive. The food was excellent. I had the Tonnemaker Squash Cavatelli with the Chicory Salad starter salad which were both excellent full of flavor. Noteworthy was the smell of other dishes as they passed our table. Recommended for any afair.
Was not very busy so it was quiet. Lighting a little dim for a business lunch but terrific food and service.
Enjoyed the night of 7 fishes! They accommodated my vegetarian and vegan friends well beyond our expectations!
Don't be fooled by pictures of this place. It may look like a nice brunch spot but the food here is definitely the worst I've had in Seattle. Thought that was just my opinion but the three friends I brought unanimously agreed. Polenta Fries were good though.
I had high hopes for this restaurant. Places that charge $20 for a salad better be good, but overall I had a very disappointing dining experience. Will not go back again. I ordered the polenta fries with aioli to start off with which was good, but everything slowly declined from there. For my main entree, I ordered the seasonal salad with the catch of the day for $20. It was a spinach salad with pears, nuts, and cheese. The $6 coho salmon was very tiny, not worth the price for what I was given. The salad was very dry, the cheese was almost watery, the nuts weren’t flavored, and the the components of the salad just didn’t go well together. I then ordered a tiramisu for dessert thinking this was going to be their redeeming quality. For an Italian Restaurant, that was the most disappointing tiramisu I’ve ever had. I’ve been to Italy and know what a real, classic tiramisu tastes like but this one I ate was such a disgrace. They added lemoncella to it and it was the worst thing they could’ve done. They turned a classic dessert into a disgrace. What made this one of the worst dining experiences was that my waiters not once asked us how everything was tasting. I’ve worked my fair share of customer service and had they asked me how everything was from the very beginning, I might try it another time. But after eating there, never again. Save yourself the money and don’t go there. Definitely not worth the $70 meal plus the $15 tip.
Not what it used to be.
We went here for thanksgiving dinner. We were seated right away and our server was very nice. It was a set menu at $75 a person, which we enjoyed most everything. What I didn’t enjoy was it was served family style which means we served ourselves. The salad was tasty but small the crostini was tiny and we got one for the four of us. It was delicious but I thought we each should have had our own for the price. The pasta was perfect and so was the turkey.
The gratuity was 20% yet I did all the serving. I will go again but not on a holiday.
We chose this restaurant because we had such a great experience last year for Thanksgiving; my husband is a vegetarian and I am emphatically not. We had a great meal so decided to go again for Thanksgiving, anticipating the same food and service. All I can say is the food that we were served was subpar (I have to say that our waiter, Joe, was very apologetic). Also, the couple that were seated a good half an hour after us, had their meal before we even had a whiff of ours. Sadly, we left - don't need this kind of service when paying $75 per head. So very sad, and I actually cried.
This was a multi course fixed price Thanksgiving dinner that the restaurant seemed ill prepared to handle. The meal started fairly well but once we got to the main entree the wait was over 30 minutes and the turkey and potatoes came to the table lukewarm and barely cooked. We had to send it back and left with dessert in a box since the 1.5 hr dinner took 2.5 hours with all the wait time. Sadly disappointed.
Food was not at all up to expectations. There was something wrong with every course. The pastry on the Caramelized onion tart was raw in the middle and under cooked. The pasta course had ZERO seasoning. We had to request salt to give it any flavor. The turkey roulade was COLD in the middle. The sweet potatoes needed a glaze or something - they were just cut in non-uniform sizes and under roasted, hard and not completely cooked. The cannoli were all different shapes and sizes - some big, some small; some undercooked, some overcooked. Spent over $300 for dinner for two (included drinks) on Thanksgiving and we were completely disappointed. Will not return.
My husband and I went for Thanksgiving dinner and it was possibly one of the worst meals we’ve ever had, ever. We were very exited to try Agrodolce, but it turned out to be horrible. We spent $300 dollars on the price fixed Thanksgiving menu with a bottle of wine and left hungry and completely dissatisfied.
The potatoes were neither seasoned nor cooked through (as in they were hard to even chew- that’s how undercooked they were). The turkey was tasteless and cold. The Brussels sprouts were soaked in some kind of liquid and so overcooked they were mush.
The service was sub par. The waiter came over to our table maybe all of 4 times through out our meal. The time in between courses was 20-30 mins. It took 2.5 hours to get through our meal. We had high expectations for a delicious Thanksgiving dinner, but will not be going back to Agrodolce again. We feel sick over spending $300 on one of the worst meals we’ve ever had.
Disappointing Thanksgiving dinner!
Our waiter was pleasant and even brought an extra glass of wine to make up for the cold and undercooked food. The family-style dinner at $75 PP was overpriced for the value received. The wine was extra at a special price of $60.
The first course was Local Roots Chicory Salad. The menu states it comes with Ricotta Salata, but I couldn't find it on the bed of mostly lettuce. It also included Caramelized Onion Crostada, which was late and not served with the first course, as shown on the menu. Next came a lukewarm, at best, Primi Pasta, Tonnemaker Squash Cavatelli. Following the pasta was a second course, Mary's Organic Turkey Breast Involtini. I'm a vegetarian, so they provided a substitution of rice filled squash, which was sent back because it was cold. The caramelized Brussel sprouts as a side dish were tasty. My partner's yams, also sent back, were hard and barely cooked, if at all. The turkey he reported way dry.
Desert was the biggest disappointment. The Tonnemaker Pumpkin Cannoli wasn't available. Our waiter said there was a problem in the kitchen resulting in the Cannoli's falling apart. A cold Lemon Tiramisu was substituted and appeared recently taken from the freezer to thaw.
Overall not the best price for value.
We had so looked forward to visiting this restaurant after hearing such good things & decided to try their prix fix Thanksgiving Day dinner. We were completely underwhelmed by the experience. The food was not well prepared, overall. The salad was tasty and interesting, the caramel used onion tart a bit under baked and everything went downhill from then. Despite not a huge crowd and a standard menu, the food came out of the kitchen oh so very slowly and since we had to send one dish back as inedible, the time just lengthened. After waiting at least 20 minutes for dessert, we were told that the pumpkin cannelloni was being difficult & would we prefer the limoncello tiramisu instead. We said ‘sure’ and it arrived promptly but, again, nothing to write home about. The drinks were good & the service friendly and attentive. This was clearly the fault of the kitchen.
I really want to like Agrodolce, their website shouts community, family, authentic and the location is charming in Fremont. We will give it another try on a regular menu night and hope for better.
The food was outstanding. The flavors were so original. Our server was friendly and attentive. The only issue was how loud it got in the restaurant during the meal.
We went as a redo after a rare but poor experience. Kurt the manager and his team made everything right and took care of us. Great customer service, great food and it’s so important when a place goes out of their way to make it right. We’re definitely recommend!
I have always loved Agrodolce, and my friend and I have celebrated our birthdays there every year for a number of years. This year was a disappointment. First, when making a reservation it told us how long we could hold the table. Really? The place was empty! That kind of put me off. Then I asked for a quiet table. We ended up next to the ONLY other table in the place, set for 6-8 people. The food is always excellent, but we ordered polenta fries (exceptional), a salad, and a pasta dish to share, as well as wine. The polenta fries came hot and we were enjoying them, which the large salad was delivered. We were just starting the salad (very nice) when the pasta arrived. By the time we got to the pasta, it was cold and not very good. The waiter didn't ask if we wanted more wine, and didn't refill the water bottle when it was empty. When our time was up, obviously, he never came near us again. When we left he didn't even say goodbye. We had said we were both celebrating our birthdays, but nothing birthday was served, which has not been the case in the past. We always order dessert but didn't this time, so that may be why. Also, it was cold in the restaurant. I had dressed warmly because this has been the case in the past. Anyway, I didn't end up feeling like coming back, which was disappointing because it's been a tradition for us.
What a disappointing dinner. The food was mediocre at best. My wife's salmon was a tiny, maybe 2-3oz serving, on top of cold and flavorless puree and a very blah chickpea patty. My steak was chewy and kind of dry, though the sauce was decent. The kids' pasta was entirely unexceptional. The appetizers? Meh. The cake for dessert? Nothing special. We would have been unimpressed if this was some mid-price chain Italian place, but for an expensive restaurant with a reputation like Agrodolce has, it was really really bad.
Simply not impressed with the quality and preparation of the food. Risotto watery and overcooked,cavatelli tasty but oily. Wait staff friendly but a bit stiff, formal and not very personable for the feel of the place.
It took them forever to bring our food and the restaurant was half full. I arrived with my baby shower plus the stroller and the server didn’t even ask or help on how to fit the stroller in the table. My pasta was cold just when they brought it. Definitely not coming back.
None of us understand what happened to this previously enjoyable restaurant, but we won’t be back. Drinks were solid, but our server mixed the second round (instead of the bartender). Side veggies arrived before our entrees, which was great because it was an hour from ordering to eating those entrées. One was over-salted and the other needed salt. Then one pasta dish arrived cold; when we commented on it to our friendly-until-then server, she seemed affronted and walked off without an apology or any indication that she’d let the kitchen know. Uhhh ... ?! She comped our pasta but that wasn’t really the point and we all left feeling like something has gone seriously sideways at this neighborhood spot.
