Afternoon Tea at The Merrion Hotel
We had a wonderful afternoon and the petit dark haired lady serving us was superb!
From the moment you walk up the steps to the Merrion Hotel you are welcomed with a warm smile and greeting. The Art afternoon tea in the drawing room was the perfect setting. Seated next to the fire place our pleasant waitress added to our very enjoyable experience. The art desserts influenced by the hotel art was amazing!
Had the pleasure to have afternoon tea at the Marrion. It was good but not fantastic. You have to know that I compare with the Savoy London, as the gold standard for high end afternoon tea.
Firstly, the choice of teas is good, but they do not let you poor your self, having the tea pot on a side table out of reach for the guest. Personally I find that not good it leaves you to the descretion of the staaff.
Secondly, the sandwhiches, acceptabgle but not outstanding, and no second serving. The cucumber sandwich was not a cucumber sandwich but a sanwich with cucumber and something else.
The pastery mostly sponge cake with marsipan, boaring to say the least.
The scones cold, very compact not near to perfect and very small.
The highlight of the tea should be the pasteries inspired by the art in the hotel, three of them. To of them hardly eatable, to sweet and odd in composition. The third was on the otherhand a delight, mango and passion fruit very good, would have liked to have had an other.
To summarise, over priced not living up to the quality one has the right to expect, I would advice to concider an other place to have tea if you are looking for high end afternoon tea.
Service was spectacular. The tea was amazing. The food was pretty decent- had a great time and highly recommend to anyone visiting!
Throughly enjoyed my afternoon tea despite the fact no one asked us if we were enjoying our food or asked us did we enjoy our afternoon tea when paying. Didn’t feel the staff were up to scratch bar one member of staff who I didn’t catch the name off, very bubbly young man who made us have a giggle when serving our art tea desserts! He only served us those and sadly we didn’t have him serving us for the rest of the afternoon tea experience!
Wonderful ambience and food and it kept coming !!
The staff were very welcoming and it made a wonderful ending to our vacation in Ireland .
Highly recommended .
I have done a lot of afternoon tea in different hotels .And i would recommend them first .The staff were under a lot of pressure and look like there was staffing issues and not enough staff on duty .There were people who just joined the area form the bar .I would come back but only for dinnning experience in restaurant area .As i feel it would be a better experience. The hotel over all was beautiful.
Kindregards Jennifer McCarthy
Fantastic service. Excellent quality of food and attention to detail.
Wonderful service, great food ! Loved the experience
Great experience. Lovely food and atmosphere. Staff were really nice. I would highly recommend it.
Lovely food, lovely people - highly recommended. We loved the artistic flair of the pastry chef and the inspiration of the hotel's art collection.
This is a wonderful experience, with all the tea you can drink and an absolutely overwhelming array of sweets. (Word to the wise: They're happy to box up items you'd like to save for later. No need to take them all on in one sitting!) The space is luxurious and soothing. During my tea, a harpist came in and filled the room with beautiful music. A wonderful experience.
One quibble: Although tea is nominally the center of the experience, not much mind was given to steeping time. Most of our tea was served under-steeped. As far as I could tell, the servers weren't measuring the amount of steeping time at all. Consider bringing out a small hourglass with each pot to provide a countdown to perfection.
An excellent experience - obviously on the expensive side for exactly what you get but it's more a payment for the experience as much as anything else
It was such a lovely afternoon in a beautiful setting. The experience was made all the better with the fabulous attentive staff. I would highly recommend to others
Went for our first wedding anniversary. The setting, service, food and drink were excellent. A really lovely way to spend an occasion!
Great service and lovely food. Was hard to eat it all as there was soo much and came with 2 courses.
Great time, more than enough food to satisfy so we highly recommend! This afternoon tea.
Food was lovely. No problem in changing some sandwich fillings. Attention to detail was excellent. Service was great. Always attentive but not intrusive. Harpist was a lovely addition to the overall experience. Will definitely return. Would highly recommend it to anyone looking to treat themselves.
My son treated me in July so I recommended it to my friends forwa birthday trea it wasq fantastic many thanks to all
Quiet, good service. The food is alright. The scones, cakes and sandwiches were not great, I've had better before and for cheaper!
too expensive for the quality of food -- scones -- sandwich +-
perfect setting, qiet and perfect pictures in the Reception ++
The Art Tea was a delightful surprise. The Irish Malt tea is especially wonderful.
There's no need for the "dessert" /second course. It becomes an excess of calories and potentially a wa ste of beautifully prepared creations. Please reconsider the construction of the afternoon tea. A fine dining experience made unnecessarily expensive and unmanageable.
Excellent service! Great food.
Very enjoyable and excellent service from staff.
Excellent experience from start to finish. Really enjoyed the Afternoon Tea.
The food was delicious, the service was impeccable, the staff were lovely and the harpist was first rate
Best afternoon tea experience in Dublin and we have experienced all other hotels 🌸
Great experience. Too much waffle about the art lol
We have had afternoon tea in many places and several countries. This art tea was one of our top 5 teas of all times.
Such a unique, fabulous, not-to-be-missed experience. The staff was friendly, helpful, and charming. The tasty sandwiches, pastries, and desserts we're quite superb and individual works of art! Thank you so much!
The Merrion Hotel is lovely and so is it’s afternoon tea - superb!
The Art Tea was exceptional. I particularly enjoyed browsing through the hotel's catalog of art and finding the paintings that inspired the sweets course.
What a wonderful experience, from start to finish.. very relaxing atmosphere, extremely attentive staff, without being intrusive..
food was excellent .
Was our second time to enjoy this treat and will definitely be making a return visit..
Absolutely amazing experience. All the teas we tried from the extensive list were incredible, it was hard to choose to move on to a different one or get another pot of the current greatness. Plenty of food provided! First a three-tier display of 4 different kinds of finger sandwiches, 4 different kinds of cake slices, and 2 different flavors of scones. The second course is the art-inspired sweets, which change weekly. Service was fantastic, tea recommendations were spot-on, and there was even live harp music played in the room.
Excellent afternoon tea presentation. Love the pastry theme inspired artwork. Definitely worth a dining destination point if stopping in Dublin, Ireland.
We had a wonderful time at Afternoon tea. I was gifted vouchers so was a real treat. Definitely a gift I would give. Food was beautiful. Surroundings amazing. Service excellent. Especially how they managed our time restraints and diet needs. Thank you for the gift and see you again soon.
Wonderful setting. Lovely harp player. Great tea selection. Very nice experience. Staff very attentive and friendly. Scones were good but not perfect. Cake was excellent. Art theme is worth while.
3 generations of women had a lovely afternoon at The Merrion Hotel. We loved both the savories and the desserts, and the endless selection of teas....but the most special part of the afternoon was the beautifully crafted sweets, inspired by artwork in the Hotel. Just fabulous! The service, also, was outstanding! Thank you for a very memorable day!
