Our proteins are sustainably sourced and in the most part, secondary cuts cooked slowly to release flavour. We bring this together on the plate to celebrate the ingredients, in a simple, heartfelt way.
We had a delicious lunch in the always beautiful ambience at Acre. The special for the day was generous, presented beautifully and spot on with its grapefruit glaze! The table service was attentive but relaxed with an excellent suggestion for a wine pairing, making the afternoon a very pleasant one. The only fault was that my husband when ordering asked for his main to be cut in the kitchen into bite sized pieces because his right arm was in a cast and sling. There was a reluctance to meet the request and the dish arrived exactly like mine. No problem for me to cut it up for him I guess, but it made me ask myself what embarrassment or difficulty a person out for lunch with a business colleague or an acquaintance rather than a family member might have experienced in the same situation. The same lovely lunch experience that we had might have looked quite different.
I loved the venue and good service. The places is not too noisy good for conversations.
Poor value for the quality and quantity of the restaurant. The share trout was a serving for one and the parpardelle had 1 strip of zucchini and half an olive. Nice rustic setting.
We had a very polite and friendly server called John. I totally enjoyed the atmosphere, the food was great and it wasn't all that noisy. I have recommended this place to my friends at work, and we wish we were having our work xmas party there now. Overall a great concept with the vegie gardens and a delightful place.
Service was excellent. Parking is the only criticism. Majority of onsite parking is 1 hr. Had to park at parking station a few hundred metres away.
When my food was late they were all so helpful and solution orientated that I felt attended to and not forgotten.
The best way to judge a company is judge them on what happens when things go wrong and they were a shinning example of the best way to handle patrons.
Excellent choice, presentation, quality and price of food.
Very good wine list, presented by a person with excellent knowledge of the contents. This same person provided first-class, friendly and courteous service throughout.
Been here several times before. Will return. Will recommend.
Our fellow guests, experienced diners and wine consumers, were equally impressed.
Our waitress was an absolute gem. Enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the all the food and beverages.
Staff were attentive with water and drink top ups. It was a wonderful dining experience. Looking forward to coming back.
I think the venue was over whelmed with customers, as there were other diners around us that mentioned the service was very slow as there seem to be only 2 people attending to diners, other than this issue everything else was good and we will definitely go back and also recommend to our family and friends.
I've eaten there before and will undoubtably be eating at the Eatery again.
Cheers! John L.
The venue is fabulous - we really enjoyed the ambience - it really is lovely.
Sadly my "caramellised onion tart" was soggy and hardly what I would call caramellised :(
Others in our group really enjoyed their food so that sort of made up for my very disappointing meal. The chicken pot pie was delicious I was told and the lamb shoulder which was a meal for 2 at $55 was raved about :)
The service was poor - no other word for it - started off well but then just disappeared. I had to ask for salt and pepper twice - I'd basically finished my meal by the time it came. We had to keep trying to the get the attention of the wait staff rather than them looking around to see if their customers needed assistance - really odd in such a venue. Perhaps the management need to take note. They were friendly enough but just not with it!
For the price I would hesitate to go again - but if a friend says yes you should give it another go then I probably will -- that's how I kind of feel about it.
Food and service great, but it was so noisy, that we had to leave. Couldn't hear what the person directly across the table was saying due to the acoustics in the restaurant. Made it unpleasant unfortunately!
On balance good. Menu was a bit limited in terms of choice. The beef was cooked very nicely but the butter sauce was too salty and took away from the taste, onion tart starter was very nice. Sides were only okay. Wine was good and not overly priced. The waitress who tended our table was friendly and efficient without being too intrusive. The bar service was slow. The prices are a bit on the high side for what and where it is. Good, and well worth a visit but price it a bit better and I would visit more often.
Limited menu and expensive. The meal - chicken pie was nothing special for the $32 price. Uninspiring steamed kale was the accompaniment. Won’t be back
The place was beautiful with great deco and light fitting. The staff were friendly and accommodating to all our requests. However, food was disappointing with not enough seasoning. It's like they never discovered salt. We provided the feedback to the floor manager which was well received. The reason provided was that they're next to the hospital (RPA is around the corner) and there were a lot of elders around so the salt level need to be reduced. It was a good reason but somehow the farm to table concept still want executed properly.
The wait staff were super helpful - friendly and delightful! Meal was delicious and loved the whole night! Was easy to book in online which was great as it was last minute as well. Food was delivered in god time Honestly couldn’t say a bad thing! Slow cooked land shoulder was sooooo good I’m still drooling thinking of it! :)
A great place for Sunday lunch. Delicious food particularly the shared pork and desserts.
Lovely belt waitress!😉😀😃
Hi, overall experience was ok as the service was challenging due to language barrier with the waitress.
My previous experience was much better. There was difficultly in understanding our orders and we also received the wrong order. Menu knowledge was also limited however her personality was great.
What an amazing space this is. As soon as you walk in from the street the beauty of the surrounds calms you. The dining area is beautiful, the food was sensational. Cannot fault the service. Not noisy either. I had been wanting to try this place for a long time and am so glad I finally got there. Elevated to my favourite restaurant now.
I've been to acre eatery a handful of times now and it's always been a positive experience. Although the menu is constantly changing with the seasons, the food is always incredibly delicious and the environment and energy of the restaurant is always thriving, no matter where we are seated!
I made a reservation two weeks in advance yet when we arrived the host had to 'check if a table was available' and made us wait in the bar...I thought this is why people make reservations?
The entree 'Acre salad' was awful, way too much sour dressing (vinegar), way too big for entree size, way too much Farrow and the 'greens' were hard to find in what I thought was a salad so that was pretty surprising. I ate about 3 mouthfuls and couldn't bear anymore. The sourdough entree bread wasn't even warmed or toasted which is unusual in any restaurant as bread at dinner is traditionally served warm. The damper tasted like a scone or pudding and nothing like damper I've eaten before. It was also rock hard on the outside.
The mains were better than the entrees (thankfully) but still not very impressive. We had the chicken pot pie and the vegetarian pumpkin and leek quiche. The mains seemed haphazardly slapped together without much thought or concern. A little more care and attention to detail would have made them a lot better.
We were really looking forward to our meal at Acre Eatery but sadly it was very underwhelming and we won't be back.
For a special occasion it was a great, large venue.
Food was very tasty and we had the lamb shoulder for 2 but there was plenty for 3.
It also came with potatoes and bean and tomato salad.
Nice choice of wine and friendly staff
We celebrated my sisters 40th birthday at Acre Eatery. The food was delicious and the service was spot on. We ordered a cake through the restaurant and it was beautifully decorated and tasted even better.
Loved the food, the restaurant and especially the staff. So friendly and attentive. The staff and their positive attitudes is what makes my wife and I return as well as recommend it to family, friends, and coworkers.
The food is so good! The kitchen should be commended.
The service is so bad! The floor manager has tunnel vision as do the wait staff. No attention to the customers, running around inefficiently with stressful facial expressions yet getting little done. We had to remind them of every basic step, "Umm can we have menus? Umm can we order drinks? Umm can we order food? Umm can we get some of this cleared up? Umm can we see a dessert menu? Umm can we order dessert? Umm can we get cutlery?! Umm can we get the bill?" Having to break their tunnel vision stare with wild gesticulation at every step. Very draining.
I was there the same time as a busy wedding. But they still found time to serve my group with smiles and the food was delicious. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was delightful.
We have dined here each time we have recently travelled to Sydney. It is wonderful to find city restaurants that ethically source their produce and prepare and present it with such care.
What an enjoyable space in which to lunch or dine. Delicious food at a very reasonable price, served by friendly staff. Wouldn't hesitate to go back.
Great space, terrific service and the best Bloody Mary is Sydney!
First time diner .. enjoyed all aspects .. will be back again.
Excellent food and service. Would be great if we had more help wirh wine choices but they were very busy.
Acre eatery has the best vibe. Lovely welcoming entry, different parts to the eatery for drinks, casual food, cafe or restaurant. Open spaces to move around, and perfect for events.
The quality of produce, genuine service and general ambiance makes for a relaxing and enjoyable way to catch up with friends and family.
Great restaurant with delicious food, drinks & excellent service.
Wow! a place we used to take our kids to eat, the old Camperdown Bowlo is now a modern (read food and decor) wonder on our doorstop. We went there after a Sydney Fringe event on a wet and windy night and were welcomed into this great eatery that prides itself on serving local and fresh produce, some from there own, on-site, community garden. The wait staff were just that right sort of friendly and very knowledgeable on the food and wines on offer. Better still they were prepared to offer a suggestion when asked.
We loved it and we might even bring our know grown up kids next time and there will be a next time.
Cheers Peter & Mary
I always leave a 5 star rating but after this last visit it slips to a 3 star.
The food as always was wonderful but the fuddled service is unacceptable.
Our last visit was marred by the confusion of the wait staff and this visit we experienced the same chaos.
To calling on staff after 10 mins to take an order and on and on.
To remind staff to refill water and wine is exhausting.
To ask again and again for cutlery to eat with is really too much .
I enjoy children and am more than happy to share a space with families but after the lack of parental care
we experienced on Sunday I would suggest that an area of the restaurant e reserved for those of us who would prefer to dine without a screaming toddler who is constantly throwing things about or dragging chairs around by their side !
By the way I am criticising the parents not the children .
All in all a not so much the pleasant lunch we were expecting.
Also it is probably the first time we have left without tipping the staff.
Depending on the experience you are after. We dined with young children and the wait to be served as well as the wait between courses was very long. We waited over an hour between starters and mains . We had a 12.45pm booking and were served out mains at 3pm. By this time all the children were very restless and it was not the relaxing experience we were hoping for.
Great atmosphere, beautiful place at night. Good service and good food. Great venue fo enjoy a meal with your partner or a few friends. Lovely hidden gem
Great day celebrating a birthday lunch, food was good and they were able to provide a cake at short notice which was is lovely. Staff were great...service was a little slow but overall really enjoyed ourselves and look forward to returning.
Good as always. Regular eater there. Seems the lamb shoulder was significantly smaller this time unfortunately. Not really a full shoulder. Fun lunch nonetheless
Lovey atmosphere and great service. A little disappointed with the food. ACRE salad very salty, and tart entree was small and tasted average for the cost. Wine list very good though.
