The name, A Touch of Salt, is a play on our family name, Brine. Our restaurant began as a family business more than 10 years ago and our family-style approach of genuine hospitality and meals designed to encourage conversation has remained the heart of A Touch of Salt. We have spent the past decade crafting our restaurant as one of the North’s best casual fine dining restaurants.

We are pleased to say our restaurant is appreciated not just by Townsville locals but also by travelers and diners from around Australia.

A Touch of Salt is mine and my husband’s go-to for a special occasion and we are yet to be disappointed by both the quality of food and the service. The range of plant based options is also a key reason for our return.

Every morsel was superb. Service was attentive and of the standard expected for the price tag. For example, the staff remembered who ordered what, didn't reach across people and cleared the table professionally and unobtrusively. Maître D was accommodating and flexible around drink choice (willing to go outside the menu). A very enjoyable experience.

Perfectly placed on the river, a spectacular view if sitting outside. Bright decor and lovely local artwork on the walls inside. Service was attentive, drinks list with a great range and you can see why the chefs win awards! Always a perfect evening to celebrate a special occasion, lunch with colleagues or treat the family.

Poppy the girl who served us was bright & cheerful. She introduced herself & was very efficient. The gentleman at the front desk showed us to a table straight away even though we were early. The meals were lovely both visually & taste wise. We had a lovely time. Thank you.

Received a e voucher via email. Got to the restaurant ordered meals to the value + more of the voucher even telling the waiter we are using a voucher tonight. We enjoyed a great meal the food was delicious but after our meal we get to the counter to fix the bill only to be told that there had been a mistake and my voucher was not valid that when swapping to the new system the vouchers for all the used gift vouchers had been sent out as well. I did not receive any follow up email to outline this and we were asked to Pay the full amount for our meal as the voucher had already been used. For the inconvenience nothing was offered not even a discount to the meal. Very disappointing !!

Classy without snobbery. Beautiful thoughtful dishes that enhance the produce and compliment the flavours. Staff were helpful, warm and engaging. Service was immaculate. Sadly I am not a local otherwise I would go back in a heartbeat!
