A Touch of Salt
Take in the waterfront views, starry night skies and cooling breezes of our alfresco balcony, or dine indoors in the air-conditioned comfort (sometimes a must in North Queensland!).
The name, A Touch of Salt, is a play on our family name, Brine. Our restaurant began as a family business more than 10 years ago and our family-style approach of genuine hospitality and meals designed to encourage conversation has remained the heart of A Touch of Salt. We have spent the past decade crafting our restaurant as one of the North’s best casual fine dining restaurants.
We are pleased to say our restaurant is appreciated not just by Townsville locals but also by travelers and diners from around Australia.
Excellent food, particularly the pork collar which was outstanding. Service was friendly and helpful, and meals arrived quickly. Meals were very reasonably priced given the high quality of the food. We will be back and I highly recommend to everyone.
Excellent food. Excellent service. Great spot. From Hobart in Tasmania. Will be back.
I had looked forward to visiting this restaurant and it did not disappoint. On a hot winter's day it was lovely to sit outside for lunch. We began our meal with scallops on their shells with a bacon and jalapeno topping, and sandcrab and scallop dumplimgs with a ginger and chilli sauce with coriander topping. Both of these were delicious. Mains were roast veal with vegetables and a duck leg in black bean sauce with raisins and pecans with parsnip cream. Both these were well presented and tasty. I felt the duck was a bit rich and needed more crunch and fresh elements. The handcut fries that had crunchy edges were good the others rather soft and disappointing. Desserts were wattleseed custard tart with parsip icecream and macadamia honey which didn't quite hit the mark for me, I did like the ice cream though. The white chocolate and lemon parfait was well received. Service was good and servers knowledgeable.
Dining at A Touch of Salt is always an absolute pleasure. The menu is interesting and the food amazing. Above all we love the service and attention to detail, always feels like home.
Great staff made us feel welcome. The food was great and the venue was wonderful with all the lights in the courtyard and along the water
We live in the building and use to come often. However after a few poor experiences mainly with staff having too much attitude and not enough skills we stopped.
However the week before last we came with some out of town visitors and we were all impressed. So we came again as a couple this week and will return . Thank heavens as it is so convenient for us and you have delightful staff well those that waited on us.
The food was good and done well. The meal portions were quite small. Didn't have everything from the culinary menu.
Service was top notch. Food was excellent. The spot we were sitting in outside was a little draughty, but otherwise the ambience was lovely. The staff made the night however, as the service was unobtrusive yet attentive, and very helpful.
Reliable fine dining with great wine list and wonderful food
Lovely staff members, great food, and fair price, been looking for a nice restaurant for a while since moving to Townsville glad I found one
Great night out. Staff could not do enough for us to make it a very enjoyable night. Food was fantastic.
Noise increased after 6.30 to very loud. Just love the place though. Steak was very fatty. Everything else is super.
Our favourite Townsville restaurant! It never fails to please. The food is outstanding and the service is impeccable. Whether it is for just dinner or a special occasion they always impress. We highly recommend A Touch of Salt for anyone wanting to experience fine dining.
Noise level inside made conversation difficult, dampening our groups mood, helpful staff moving us to an outside table solved this. Our guests from the Perth restaraunt scene felt it eas overall "nearly" as good as eny of theirs.
A Touch of Salt never disappoints. My main problem is always trying to narrow down what I want from the menu, because it is consistently diverse and everything sounds tempting. Service was always professional and attentive, without feeling intrusive in anyway. Easily my favourite restaurant in Townsville.
Outstanding service and food. Great ambience and wine selection too.
Mark and the staff are always lovely and accommodating. We found this visit very loud being a table of two the doors were closed for a function which may of increased the noise level, we were seated near kids and IPADS, this is no reflection on the restaurant. The menu was new so the staff found it difficult to make recommendations but our found was great as was the wine and whisky sour.
Excellent service and cuisine. We loved it and look forward to going back.
The food was fantastic and the serving staff were polite and diligent. The kitchen took a very long time to prepare entrees and a longer again wait for mains. When the food arrived it was beautiful and well worth the wait but we ordered shortly after arriving and waited 45mins for an entree. We will be back because the food is fantastic but the timing this time was quite off and left us waiting longer than you would expect in a high quality restaurant.
Sensational scallops for entre , I could have eaten a dozen of them . Great service from our waiter , not in your face , but there whenever you needed him .
Most enjoyable evening, excellent service and food. I recommend this restaurant.
Always a thoroughly enjoyable evening with great food, great wine and great service.
Glad to have a fine dining restaurant in Townsville
The atmosphere was pleasant, service made us feel safe and welcome. The food was absolutely flawless and quality of food was priced well. Would 100% recommend and go again.
Excellent service. Food was perfect. Atmosphere was amazing. Just a bit expensive. Would go back.
All waitstaff were very accomodating and friendly. A beautiful place to dine.
Service was excellent - attentive without being overwhelming.
Very good menu - sufficient variety to suit all tastes.
The meals were great but not very hot when they arrived, which was disappointing.
Always the best service you will get in town.
And it comes with great food!
Outstanding as always. Best place to eat if you’re celiac. They have a great understanding of dietary requirements and the food still tastes amazing!! Highly recommend people to look at the vegetation menu. I’m not vegetarian but I personally believe the menu options are outstanding and on par if not better than the regular menu items.
Food was fantastic, great choices. Service was friendly, the cocktails were magnificent. Can’t wait to go back.
Your chef de partie Emma is amazing!!!
Food as always was amazing. The staff at a Touch of Salt are always available, very aware of the ingredients in the meals and they have great taste in their food recommendations. This was our fourth time to Touch of Salt and we were impressed as usual. The squid was amazing and highly recommended. I could have eaten that as a main. Thank you.
Delicious food and ambiance. Service good. Awesome wine list and drink selection.
We sat outside, as the noise levels indoor make conversation a bit difficult at times. The service was outstanding by James and made the night relaxed and memorable. The food was devine and portion sizes just right. So many difficult flavours in the food and but mixed so well and tasted delicious.
All the staff are friendly and enthusiastic, our waitress was awesome.
We were wowed by the food and service and I can highly recommended A Touch of Salt for a fantastic dining experience.
Amazing food and service.
Our international visitors were impressed.
This was our first visit to Touch if Salt. I was extremely excited to have a whole vegetarian/vegan menu to choose from. Unfortunately the quality of the food just didn’t match everything else about the restaurant.
It’s in a great location. The service is too notch as is the decor.
We chose two entrees to share. The cheesy scrolls were delicious but the sweet corn fritter had absolutely no flavour, aside from the chilli sauce that was on top. It was a disappointment.
For the main I chose the Roti which was unfortunately not edible. It had absolutely no flavour was extremely glittery and oily, and the mango and cucumber on top just plain bland. My partner chose the pork belly, which unfortunately had absolutely no crispness, and the meat was just lost in an over abundance of sauce. Our daughter had the heritage chicken and really enjoyed it.
Unfortunately for us this visit was underwhelming and expensive.
Whilst I cannot fault the service at all, the food just fell well short of our expectations.
We will give this place one more try in the hopes it was just a one off.
This is the best restaurant in Townsville.
Loved the Yakatori Pork entree and Duck Wellington on the Autumn 2019 menu. Looking forward to next visit for the winter fare.
First time customers, the place was beautiful, the service was exceptional, the food was outstanding (scallops and garfish, my favourite). Very happy!
