A Touch of Salt
Take in the waterfront views, starry night skies and cooling breezes of our alfresco balcony, or dine indoors in the air-conditioned comfort (sometimes a must in North Queensland!).
The name, A Touch of Salt, is a play on our family name, Brine. Our restaurant began as a family business more than 10 years ago and our family-style approach of genuine hospitality and meals designed to encourage conversation has remained the heart of A Touch of Salt. We have spent the past decade crafting our restaurant as one of the North’s best casual fine dining restaurants.
We are pleased to say our restaurant is appreciated not just by Townsville locals but also by travelers and diners from around Australia.
My husband and I were very impressed with the quality of the food and service as were family visiting from New Zealand who love fine dining and do so frequently. We could not afford to dine on a regular bases but would dine here again for a special celebration and recommend it to others.
Touch of Salt never fails to deliver. Perfect everytime. The service is second to none, have not been there since February and our lovely waitress remembered which wine we drank. It is those small things that separates A Touch of Salt to the rest.
Choose to go early 6pm beat the rush, Great food and service really nice experience good views of river.
Consistently excellent, the best restaurant in Townsville. Exceptional menu, with numerous gluten-free options. Reasonably-priced.
Food was amazing, service was excellent for both food and drink.
It was a wonderful evening. Beautiful food, great food and faultless service from the staff.
Food and value we couldn’t fault. Only thing that spoiled it for us was the light rain that started halfway through our main meals. Means we had to rush a bit at the end. An awning of some kind would have been perfect. Even an umbrella would have would have great.
The food was excellent it was a very relaxing night. This restaurant is a little more sophisticated than most restaurants and clearly they work hard at it. I had the Mignon Steak which was superb. The food here is hard to fault.
Second time we have dined at A Touch of Salt and it was just as good as last time if not better. Food was so good and our waitress was excellent. A couple of our group have food intolerances and the options available are a welcome change to regular dining out. 10/10
We had a fabulous night, thank you for the fabulous food and great service. My wife does not like to go out as she doesn't like crowds. Your staff made us feel very relaxed, we will definitely be back.
The lighting made it difficult to read the menu so I used my phone torch!
Consistently great food and service snd readily adapt food around my gluten and dairy free exclusions
Great service by well tutored staff. Smiles all round !
A Touch of Salt never disappoints. The food is always both excellent and interesting, and the menu changes fairly regularly which is great. Service, as ever, was outstanding. For me, it's easily the best restaurant in Townsville.
The food was incredible. And the service was amazing. Definitely will be returning again soon
Food was very good, especially the scallops and duck wellington. However the price was pretty high for the amount of food.
Amazing food and good service
A Touch of Salt remains the best night out in Townsville.
Amazing 😍 we celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary and it was perfect. Thank you so much.
Amazing food and service. Highly recommend Touch of Salt to anyone.
Staff were faultless. Very unfortunately our meat was luke-warm - almost cold and quite chewy. Quite disappointing.
The service here is delightful- friendly but not intrusive. The menu tastes every bit as good as it sounds and the drinks list showcases user friendly wines and beers without being overwhelming or pretentious. We’ve been here before and will definitely dine here again.
Very talented kitchen. Some of the best food I've had in Australia.
Excellent menu (both food and beverages), outstanding service and a lovely location on the river. Arguably one of the best restaurants in Townsville - highly recommended.
Great food and drinks, the degustation was amazing and the matching wines were an excellent complement. The attention to detail was second to none and will be looking forward to our next evening out.
I had the baked scallops and my wife had crab dumplings for entrees which were both really delicious. We both had the Reef Fish for mains which was also really good. Everything was cooked fresh and arrived piping hot.
As always a Touch of Salt delivers on the food and the ambiance always a wonderful night
Amazing, delicious food, top service. Love it every time we visit the place!! :)
Food and customer service are always next level. We always enjoy our night at a touch of salt , never dissapoints. Would highly recommend a visit .
Our food and service were fantastic and it felt very special when we walked in. The only thing we could fault was the noise in the restaurant which made it hard to hear each other around the table.
Starters and Mains are great. Desserts are lacking. But overall good experience.
Outstanding as always! Great food and amazing service.
Four of us dined at a Touch of Salt on a rainy week night, when there was a large group booked in. The noise level was above what is usual, but understandably so because we were all dining inside on account of the weather. The staff did well, very attentive, our starter came in good time, but the main was a little longer....again because of the large number of diners. The food was really good, artistically presented and delicious. Still a favourite of ours and we will dine there again, and again.
Our evening was very pleasant, we had booked a table for 7:15pm, and upon arrival needed to wait a short time for the table to become available, not in itself a inconvenience, we ordered drinks at the bar. The bar was very busy and not the most inviting for pre-dinner drinks given it's location in the room and the configuration of the seating. Our table was satisfactory, if somewhat small for 4 diners, chairs very comfortable and air conditioning good. The service was second to none, excellent on all counts. Our main meal did take some time to arrive after entrees 45-60 mins, but given the excellent service and good wine, the time passed quickly. The food was wonderful, reasonable portion sizes and well presented and very tasty. The only down sides perhaps were the noise level which was reasonably high and the cost which seemed a little high in comparison with other restaurants we have dined at recently. All in all a very pleasing evening. Kind regards Derek Saw
Absolutely amazing! Great service, food and drinks. Loved the touch of "Happy Birthday" written on my partner's dessert for him. Thank you
Food was exquisite although a little pricey, interesting that they don’t use tablecloths or place mats -just cutlery clattering on the laminated tables ... so not quite fine dining ...but great menu and lovely staff
Absoutly fantastic from the minute we walked in, we had awsome waiter, that not only new the menu on from the back of his hand, he just really connected to us as customers aswell.(I'm sorry I forgot his name) Food was abouslty outstanding could not fault a think from starter to dessert.
We enjoyed a lovely evening with wonderful service.
Always a good dining experience at Touch of Salt. Amazing food and great service!!
The menu may read like you’re having a meal at one of those restaurants where items are in dishes because they read well on the menu rather than because they add to the dish. This is definitely not the case. Every dish we’ve ever had at A Touch of Salt has been refined, each ingredient adds to the overall dish rather than just being a fancy swirl of purée or whatever to look/sound good.
