A Touch of Salt
Take in the waterfront views, starry night skies and cooling breezes of our alfresco balcony, or dine indoors in the air-conditioned comfort (sometimes a must in North Queensland!).
The name, A Touch of Salt, is a play on our family name, Brine. Our restaurant began as a family business more than 10 years ago and our family-style approach of genuine hospitality and meals designed to encourage conversation has remained the heart of A Touch of Salt. We have spent the past decade crafting our restaurant as one of the North’s best casual fine dining restaurants.
We are pleased to say our restaurant is appreciated not just by Townsville locals but also by travelers and diners from around Australia.
There was a mix up with the ticket pei ter and my husband waited an hour for over baked scallops. Having said that they were very apologetic and offered us a free drink and mains and dessert came out and were consumed within an hour. My oxtail was delicious but considering my husband paid $34 for his meal and got a similar size serve to my $19 meal he was really dissappointed.
From the onset, service was very warm and welcoming and couldn't do enough to make our time there enjoyable. The food was served quickly and was absolutely devine. I had the reef fish and my partner had the steak and both were beautifully flavoured and tender. Would highly rate our time there.
The prawn dumplings couldn’t taste any prawns, the duck has cartridge or bone in it and 14.00 for the tiniest piece of cheesecake ever
Excellent customer service great food options every cooked to our liking and everyone was very friendly I would highly recommend this restaurant
Really brilliant, delicious food, great scenery and great service
Fabulous food served by wonderful staff that made us feel so welcome from entry at the door. Our 7 yo son really enjoyed the experience and we look forward to returning for another special occasion. An exceptional venue which prides itself on providing outstanding service to all patrons.
Fantastic food, loved the scallops. Great service. Always good. 😁😁
A little pricey and not a whole not of options but my goodness it is definitely worth it! The food was very quick to come out and absolutely mouth watering! Am definitely going back
Great place for a nice date night! Food was incredible and was able to focus on just our conversation. Wasn't too loud in there!
My favourite restaurant in Townsville. My friend asked me what was good on the menu. I couldn't choose a favourite as every time I try something I haven't tried before, it becomes my new favourite. The service is excellent as always. wine list has some great choices and the restaurant is in a great location. Inside is always good, but on a nice summer evening with a breeze from the river, dinner outside is perfect.
The food is exquisite,.
The service is attentive, but not intrusive and very friendly.
Ambience and décor is very nice and aesthetically appealing.
It’s a reasonable restaurant to go on a date or special occasion. The staff were friendly and it has a nice vibe. Our mains were tasty but our entrees and starters were not great. To many tastes trying to be incorporated that the seafood was lost. There was so much batter on the crab you could not tell it even was crab. The wine list is dreadful.
We had a beautiful evening, thank you Mark, “Daryl” and crew.
Great food and service was prompt and attentive. Sharing our entry was no problem, we were even given extra plates and cutlery.
Prompt service and drink ordering; nice ambience on a table outside. Entrée of goat's cheese gnocchi was a texture reminiscent of haloumi, however was lacking the anticipated flavour of goat's cheese. Oxtail entrée was a standout - well balanced, fresh and full of flavour. Mains - rib eye steak and fish with pineapple curry. Steak was well cooked and was paired well with accompaniments, however was not memorable. Fish was far overcooked, chewy and not well integrated with the remainder of the dish. The term 'curry' was a bit loose - the disk was pan-fried fish with a very mildly flavoured curry sauce with thin slices of pineapple and fresh greens/salad on top. Will likely await for a new menu to return.
Was not what we expected. It was very loud and the meal - the rib eye steak - seemed like it was bought from woolworths and was not a good cut..
Dined here on several occasions. Every visit to this establishment has been nothing short of amazing. Excellent front of house service and organisation. Food beyond very high expectation. Fresh, superbly cooked and presented. No dragged out intervals between courses due to front of house being totally on top of their game. A very pleasant, tasty experience that never fails to impress me. I will certainly go back.
Despite it being busy as it was New Years Eve the service was fantastic and the food was amazing.
Always a memorable night out at A Touch of Salt. Welcoming, unobtrusive staff, exquisite food in a relaxing setting. Can't speak highly enough of this place
Great food, great staff and very dedicated and welcoming owners. One of the very few extra special restaurants left in Townsville, but clearly the best in our opinion.
I love eating at a Touch Of Salt. I have never ever had a bad experience. The owner's are very approachable and a lovely family. Arianna's service was faultless. But I was also impressed by all the other waiters and waitresses who also checked on us regularly. The food is exceptional. I love the fact that there isn't anything on the menu that I can cook for myself. Looking forward to returning again soon.
This restaurant is a must visit if you are in Townsville. Food, service, ambience were simply flawless. The sheer elegance of the whole experience was wonderful. Can't wait to dine here again!
Great food, busy but not too busy. Service was prompt, servers were excellent.
No other place that we would rather celebrate our special occasions. This restaurant NEVER disappoints.
As usual food was lovely and service was excellent. Staff are friendly and wait times were good considering they were busy.
Always an enjoyable experience
Outstanding service , food and atmosphere.
The only complaint would be some unsightly characters hanging around the restaurant .
Excellent food as was the service. First time we have been but will definitely not be the last.
Beautiful setting and comfortable sears. excellent service, the staff were amazing. Food was delicious and wonderfully presented. Very reasonable prices. The only thing that lowered my score from a 5 was the noise level. It wasnt particularly crowded but we still had to yell at each other to be heard. In need of an accoustic treatment and then it would be perfect!
Best restaurant in Townsville by a million miles! The service is always perfect. The food is just brilliant and a perfect amount.
We really enjoyed our meals and the service provided.
Simply amazing, service was fantastic as always, food was wonderful.
Definitely enjoyed our evening - great wait staff - fantastic food and can't wait to visit again.
Stunning food, ambience and service. Highly recommended and worth the money. A marvellous venue
The high standard of food flavour, presentation, service, atmosphere - always perfection. Never a disappointment from A Touch of Salt. Wonderful.
Best food, great ingredients, and worth the money.
The menu was exquisite and the dishes were to die for!
Innovative menu and cooked superbly !
Especially loved the scallop starter and the pork belly
Attentive staff and a lovely setting
Food was lovely.Only disappointment was getting our various wines per course after we had finished each course.
It was a little noisy during our meal due to a works Christmas party taking place in the indoor seating area.
This spoilt the ambience a little and also slowed the service a little bit, but we still enjoyed our meal.
Havnt been to Townsville for many years and never visited Touch of Salt. A terrific outcome, we had a great meal with excellent staff. Would recommend to all Townsville visitors.
