A Touch of Salt
Take in the waterfront views, starry night skies and cooling breezes of our alfresco balcony, or dine indoors in the air-conditioned comfort (sometimes a must in North Queensland!).
The name, A Touch of Salt, is a play on our family name, Brine. Our restaurant began as a family business more than 10 years ago and our family-style approach of genuine hospitality and meals designed to encourage conversation has remained the heart of A Touch of Salt. We have spent the past decade crafting our restaurant as one of the North’s best casual fine dining restaurants.
We are pleased to say our restaurant is appreciated not just by Townsville locals but also by travelers and diners from around Australia.
Nice restuarant. Great staff. However, food was expensive for the portions that were served. Wine also expensive.
Food was amazing! Staff were attentive and friendly. Loved the feel of the place. Pricey food menu but everything is beyond top quality. Can not fault the service or the taste of the food.
Food was awesome and staff had a good understanding of the menu and it wines they serve.
wonderful atmosphere, attentive service, delicious cuisine, delightful beverages and overall a very delectable experience!
We always have an amazing experience at A Touch of Salt. It has a very welcoming atmosphere
With wonderful food and great service from the friendly staff. Love it .
Ideal for a quiet intimate dinner. Great food, great service great venue.
Excellent food , service , menu flexibility and totally professional well trained staff- A pleasure to dine there
Great service, Food and drink 👌🏻
The menu was delicious, the food was excellent so was the service and ambiance. Would certainly dine there again.
Beauiful meal and service, one of the best ive had in Townsville *and im fussy!
Last minute booking, had not been here for a number of years and we were delighted by the standard of food (we had main courses and dessert) and highly attentive service.
A minor point, the coffee was on the cool side and more bitter than we like. The tea drinker in the group was pleased with his strong English Breakfast.
Overall, we can’t wait to go back!
The food was good, however I were not that impressed by the location and how the restaurant were decorated. I would still recommend it since fine dining is hard to find in Townsville.
As usual the service and the food were impeccable. We all loved our meals and the staff were helpful in assisting us to chose.
As usual A Touch of Salt was a fantastic dining experience, the atmosphere, the food, the staff, the wine, the whole evening was amazing. So amazing we closed the restaurant 😉 Can't wait to come back again soon.
Food took a really long time to be served. Beautiful quality of food.
Always an enjoyable experience.
Excellent chefs, wait staff are very well trained.
Food never disappoints.
Will always recommend for any occasion..
Always fantastic , great service and amazing food,
I actually canceled at another restaurant to go to A Touch Of Salt as the menu had more to offer and sounded a lot better. I'was pleased with our choice.
There seemed to be waiters everywhere except when we needed one. Meal was served but no pepper. Waited for pepper but eventually had to call a waiter.
Excellent night out as usual at Townsville’s best restaurant.
Disappointed - the new menu is terrible. Goats cheese gnocchi was dry and gross. Service was slow, had to ask for cutlery a few times, drinks ordering took forever. More staff needed on busy nights.
A little disappointed - came for a special night but got seated (initially) outside on an evening with a howling gale and imminent (i.e. torrential) rain. Not very impressed. We were thankfully taken inside after entree (by which time we were wind blown but at least we missed the downpour) - only to be disappointed by the cacophony inside - clearly a full restaurant isn't such a great idea for what was previously a concrete carpark.
Service was a little underwhelming too (no one seemed particularly inspired about the menu or drinks - so we felt no incentive to buy anything) but the food was pretty good - so it wasn't all that bad.
The Menu was very good and the food itself was of a high standard. The noise level was excessive, beyond "Energetic", we were having to lean in and across the table just to hear each other as the other diners were yelling just to be heard. I believe the music was too loud or simply the acoustics were plain wrong. We would definitely eat here again for the food and service.
Food was amazing & good size serves as well. We went for lunch so wasn’t too busy. Online booking was easy. Cocktails were delicious & quick. Staff very friendly. Throughly enjoyed it, will definitely be back
The location is great, right in the river. Food was amazing & well portioned & drinks were great also. Service can not be criticized, a little slow but the restaurant was packed so it was expected. My only complaint was the it was hot inside the restaurant, even though it is air conditioned, due to the fact they had the deck doors open (which in Townsville in Summer, is not ideal). Despite that, I'd definitely come back for another meal.
Food was delicious, it was a busy Saturday night but service was good and friendly. Would definitely go back
Disappointing to start with 4 oysters no bigger than my thumbnail for $16 and couldn't taste them due to thick batter.
Entrees were lovely, again very expensive and small but creative plates. No mains and a drink each we spent $95. Lucky it was a nice spot overlooking the river.
Loved the food and service staff great and more than happy with their service, was too noisy and ver hot being a major issue.
Was very good. Was expecting the prices to be alot bigger then what they were due to it being a very flashy menu but the price was good!
Service staff were fantastic.
As a first timer amongst seasoned diners, I found A Touch Of Salt to be incredible in the food department, the service outstanding and the ambiance just right. Truly one of the nicest places I have dined at in a long time and as a former Melbournite.....it is really top shelf!!! Thank you.
Amazing. As always
Superb service and wonderful food.
Excellent all around - a real gem in Townsville. We were there on a Tuesday and the large dining room quickly filled but the service remained top-drawer, no doubt through the very efficient host/manager who was very watchful and attentive to every table. Food was finely prepared - courses were modest and I recommend to order multi-course meal. When in Townsville, this is a must.
What really sold us on our experience at a touch of salt was the genuine approaches by the wait staff. They were authentic in their concern for how we were enjoying ourselves. Really felt the passion. like the saying goes…"its not what you do its how you do it", and these owners/staff have nailed that. We will return purely based on that. thank you so much, Julie and Wally
Food was to die for, ambiance was perfect and the service was outstanding. Great night had for our anniversary.
My fiancé and I wanted share a nice dining experience before she flew to the Phillipines for 3 and a half months. They did not disappoint, everything was perfect and our waiter was so helpful cause we did not have a clue. I recommend the 4 course meal with the wine pairing. Absolutely amazing! Thanks
The service was great, friendly and informative about the menu and wine. The food was cooked great and tasted amazing.
We hadn't been for a few years and have now decided to go back again after our dining experience.
Awesome time the whole experience was excellent.😎
Amazing food - vegetarian Dego was delicious!! Highly recommend
