81 Beach Street
81 Beach Street in Deal is a celebration of what makes good restaurants great. Priding ourselves on local Kent ingredients and suppliers we create fine food without the fuss. Located on Deal's seafront in a beautiful period building, 81 offers a cosy and warm atmosphere, complete with stunning views!
Look out for our Special Set Lunch Menus and also our new Vegan Menu!
Great food , all cooked perfectly. Service staff vey well presented and polite.
Lovely menu, very good service easy parking and exceptional value. Why wouldn’t you dine at this excellent restaurant. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit which couldn’t have been bettered when we found locally caught Dover sole on the menu.
We have been to 81 three times now and previously we had excellent service but on this occasion it was extremely poor. The waiter couldn’t remember our drinks order, the waitress almost threw our food at us, then got our wine order wrong bringing over large glasses rather than small, we weren’t even offered a dessert menu or coffee and later in the evening she turned the lights down which we took as a signal for us to leave. Added to that we all felt we were more of a nuisance rather than being welcomed.
The food was good but service affects your whole evening and as it was a special occasion this made it even worse. Don’t think we will ever book again.
Excellent service. Food came out together, which is always appreciated. Best steak I have had in a long time. Great atmosphere
Good food, good service. Highly recommended. Central location.
I eat at 81 fairly often, and usually love the Sunday lunch. Went at 3.00 for a later sitting, and the food was barely hot and past its best. Didn’t mention it at the time, as I didn’t want to embarrass our guests. Real shame
Superb Sunday lunch as usual. Great value and well worth the 100 mile round trip drive
Always superb service and the food never disappoints. The roast dinner is particularly enjoyable as is the vegan burger. We had a baby with us and they were very accommodating.
Our first visit to 81 Beach Street whilst staying in Deal for the weekend celebrating a special birthday. We would certainly return if and when we are in the area and recommend the restaurant to those looking for a fine dining quality of food, excellent customer service and above all great ambience.
As a regular customer we were very disappoint with this vist. The loverly waiters and waitresses have gone as have the old managers. The menu was last years but was very limited. So much so 3 of us opted for burgers! These were very mediocre and no way gourmet. My wife fish was not fresh. The cheese cake desert was stayal and tasted frozen. We also thought it expensive for what we had. We have now canselled our reservation this week for my brother in laws birthday. So sad 81 was our go to restaurant because it was always consitantly good food. Sadly no more.
Food was tasty, good service with a pleasant atmosphere- would thoroughly recommend a visit
Fabulous food, great service with a small but well rounded wine list
Delightful situation, very good food, cheerful friendly service - an ideal place for a quiet night out with friends.
Had lunch here for the first time a couple of days ago. We chose the 3 course set menu which turned out to be utterly delicious and outstanding value for the quality of the food. Will definitely return and highly recommend.
The food was well cooked and beautifully presented. The waitresses were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We were not rushed at any point during our meal. We stayed for two hours. Would visit again gladly.
Good value for money
All staff very polite
Lovely atmosphere and great service. Food very good.
We eat here often as it’s delicious food and always consistent. Good value and have interesting vegetarian dishes as well. Staff are always pleasant and helpful.
Great place on the seafront of Deal Bright and happy staff . The food was a very high standard and served efficiently. Always enjoy a meal there when we stay in the town .
Very good food, good service, price one would expect, would recommend and revisit.
Dined here several times and really enjoyed it but something was lacking this time. Menu maybe not so as imaginative as normal.
Had a lovely meal here - great, reasonably priced food and tastefully decorated, with a nice view out to sea upstairs. The staff really went above and beyond, they were really attentive and friendly. Would thoroughly recommend!
Great restaurant serving seafood and burgers on the seafront. Good atmosphere and friendly staff.
Lovely restaurant, food is always excellent and varied too. Staff friendly and helpful. Great value especially with a Tastecard
Great restaurant, excellent food an very nice staff. I can totally recommend.
This is one of my favourite places to eat. The menu always changes and is always top quality. I find the staff friendly attentive. Just a very relaxing pleasant place to eat.
Always a good atmosphere. Attentative staff. Lunchtime menu good value for money.
The ambience of the restaurant was that of the 1990s. With bright purple chairs, questionable art work and music that had no place in a restaurant, the whole setting of 81 Beach Street was array. I had booked for Sunday lunch to celebrate my Birthday. What a mistake. We were excited about spending a few leisurely hours over a long lunch; much to our dismay, there were no starters on the Sunday menu, and unless you wanted a roast, you were a bit limited to say the least. The food was fine, the service not much better. I just wish that the owners realised what a gem they have and give it the love that little restaurant deserves. A lick of paint, new chairs and a carefully crafted menu really would go a long way.
Outstanding as usual. We had to change our table time and even though they were busy they accommodated us.
Perfect in every way. Fantastic food, staff and prices.
Disappointed. Went to 81 a few times a couple of years ago. Great food and service and management then. So, August 2019 short holiday we booked up to celebrate our last night. It was appalling. OK, the starters were fine but 2 out of 3 mains were sub-par. Desserts were uninspired or not as described on the frankly sparse over priced menu. Three courses took 2.5 hours. There was one decent waitress but ours was gormless. Didn't even clear the table between courses. Hopeless. Won't be going back.
Booked a table in advance after reading reviews; and was right to. Although you would never think it a family orientated restaurant, in actual fact it very much was - children's menu which is priced by age plus activities to keep them happy. The food was very good - adults chose the lunch set menu and we expected small plates for the price. But no! Normal adequate portions of very good mackeral pate, cod fillet and desert. All of a fabulous standard. This place is really understated. The service was top notch too. Well done you!!!
An excellent traditional Sunday lunch
Plenty of everything, with a delicious mixture of fresh vegetables. Thoroughly enjoyed it
Really lovely food, quality ingredients. Nice choice for those who don’t always eat meat.
Lovely food and friendly service, the £10 lunch menu a bargain !
Thank you for your recommendation. We hope to see you again soon.
Consistently excellent food with a great value lunch menu
Good meal, well attended by staff! Would recommend to anyone.

Food was amazing, lovely atmosphere, great service, totally recommend
Thank you for your lovely review.
Very friendly service, excellent food, great value.
Thank you for your review!
I have eaten here before and had great meals and a great experience but tonight was disappointing. Personal choice I know, but for me the menu lacked interest, we didn't fancy any of the starters (something I always enjoy) and I ended up with steak and chips for main. I Ordered 6oz rump, I wouldn't normally order rump but I couldn't justify (I think it was £24.50?)for the 7oz Fillet, particularly as it is just steak, chips and a few cherry tomatoes and small handful of watercress. The triple cooked chips weren't the best I've had, a bit dry, my steak was ok, cooked to my liking but a little on the tough side, probably because it's rump! I paid £1.75 for a teaspoonful of garlic butter, which added some flavour but really overall I was very disappointed and wouldn't rush back. I'm afraid based on this last visit I would be reluctant to recommend anyone to visit but I perhaps would include it in a list of options with an honest "I've had good and not so good meals" . On the plus side, the staff were very pleasant and keen, they probably needed a few more hands as they were fully booked, but they did a good job. This really is meant to be helpful feedback, I hope it is received as it is meant. £80 for 3 mains, 4 drinks and 1 coke....£90 with the tip....A bit on the pricey side considering it's only a main course and a drink...£30 a head.
