Went here for our one year anniversary and it was magical. We got there right as the sun was setting and they sat us at a table that was overlooking the setting sun and LA. The food was great and the service was even better! Would definitely come back for a special occasion or drinks at the bar.
My fiancé and I recently got engaged here. Outstanding service and ambiance. The view was nothing short of spectacular. Our waitress did an amazing job of tailoring our experience. Will definitely be coming back here!
This was a first class dining experience! From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave, the service is impeccable. The view is amazing and the food equally as good. This would be a great place to bring out of town visitors or simply for a date night or dinner with friends. Loved everything about it.
Amazing food & service was outstanding!
My amazing experience began before the arrival at the restaurant. The valet was friendly and courteous and directed us to reception. The reception staff politely asked for the reservation name and with a warm smile, showed us to the elevator. Again greeted with smiles, we were directed to a second elevator which led to the restaurant. The staff at reception were friendly, immaculate and professional. The reservation was for 5:45pm. We asked if there was a window table. To our joy, there was! Everyone who attended to us from there on in, were full of smiles, had immense product knowledge and made our dining experience extra special. We opted for the 3 course dining menu then relaxed later by a window in the lounge for breathtaking views of Los Angeles. A memorable, wonderful dining experience, I would highly recommend to everyone I know. Thank you 71Above.
We love the ambience we love the decor we love the architecture. The view spectacular. The food was totally mixed. The oyster appetizer was to die for. Steak tartare was not ground fine was in chunks and not much flavor salt was totally missing couldn’t taste the onions. And the bread was hard. I had a trumpet mushroom main -Delicious. The desserts were tasteless and unexciting to look at.
For that price we would not return for dinner. Maybe drinks
Great view + experience + service !!
This is a very pricey restaurant, but the view and ambiance are worth it. Each serving of food was excellent and our server did an excellent job.
I would highly recommend this place if you have a special occasion or someone you want to impress.
When arrived for 7 PM reservation taken all the way around through to the back side by the service area. I believe it was the kitchen area I understand that we didn’t have the choice for seating But it was horrible.. The waiter was rude, the only thing that was great was the food… We will never return.
When we were seated I was a little bummed out I wasn’t at a window, as me and my partner went out for my birthday. Our sever Sheree took notice I was upset and promptly apologized! After that she went above and beyond and truly made this experience one to remember thank you again Sheree I couldn’t have asked for a better birthday dinner :)
Great place to go for a romantic date.
Food was overdone; not over cooked, just overly overdone. Small portions, big price. Requested a window seat for our 38 th Anniversary and didn’t get it. Would not go back. Yes, the views were nice but not worth it.
Service was very disappointing. Food was just ok, nothing special. If it was not for the view this place would be a one star
Definitely only for special occasion. Great view, ambiance, and service, but priceyl First two of three course fixed price dinner were imaginative and excellent, mains not up to same standard. Pork, especially was dry, scallops just OK. Chef uses a lot of seeds and herbs that make for interesting taste, but by the time of the main course, we felt the amount of fresh tarragon was getting out of hand. Still, delightful to find an L.A. restaurant at which you actually can hear your dinner partner across the table you are not being served with one eye on the clock.
Excelente place to go just the best place
Took my boyfriend for his birthday and we loved it. The view is just spectacular and the food is amazing.
Fantastic view with excellent service and food!
The food was excellent. The 3-course menu was very tasty but for the average American who expects to take food home from restaurants (a practice unheard of in the rest of the world) the serving sizes were tiny. The view and the service were stellar, but my biggest complaint is the insane price level. A dinner for two plus one (yes one) glass of wine cost $301. This included the "mandatory service charge" of $40 that they added. No wonder the waiters tried to be as super-friendly as possible.
Really good food, but still a rip-off. NOT going back except maybe for a drink with a view.
We went before sunset and the view was spectacular because of it. Our server was wonderful.
Best view of any Restaurant Anywhere... Food is good, not great.
The service was great, and the food was amazing.
I would recommend this restaurant to friends/family
The views are spectacular. Each course was outstanding. The wine pairing included wines way above expectations. Great experience! It was worth the drive to downtown.
Amazing food and service. Expensive and worth it. The food is a performance
Awesome experience. We went to celebrate my sons birthday and it was an unforgettable evening.
We went for our anniversary. We had requested a window table awhile ago, but this was not honored. It’s frustrating to go back time and time again only to be sat in the middle of the restaurant. I guess we haven’t figured out who you have to pay off or murder to get the better table. The staff were friendly about our anniversary, they even brought glasses of sparkling rosé to celebrate. The staff is attentive and there are many of them, my complaint is that when they bring the courses they often rush through what you’re eating and the presentation. We are young-ish, without comprehension or hearing problems and had to ask several times for clarification. Otherwise they are great. The meal course offerings are good; my husband and I agreed that the second course was the best. That in alone was a little disappointing, as my husband ordered the waygu beef (a specialty and an up charge) which he described as good, but somewhat fatty. He reported he would not order it again. I had the mushroom dish and I would not recommend it; it feels a little like tough mushroom steaks with avocado purée in cream of mushroom soup, which is something to be avoided for sure. Sadly, it’s the only vegetarian option as the third course. That being said, the tomato first course is good. The the pasta and carrot second courses are even better, and the drink and wine menus are also very impressive. Don’t mistake my disappointment with tonight’s third course as overall distaste for this restaurant— we have been here before and enjoyed a full range of cuisine from oysters, sun chokes, beets, steak, and sushi - tonight’s entree menu just didn’t seem to be consistent with the level we had come to expect. I think given the disappointment with the food and the seating, I don’t think we will be back. Your views can’t be beat, 71 Above, but the overall experience can.
Every Personal And Employee were Great and Personality showed Thru They’re Smile And Way They Greeted And Spoke with You And Helped in Any Way Possible And Ask if you needed More Great Service
Portion sizes are adequate for the level of dining. Some dishes however come across as disjointed with the flavors across the plate not aligning. Service was spotty, our table was left to pour our own wine on multiple occasions. Although the restaurant had just switched to the summer menu, the server had not taken the time to memorize it. When we had questions about certain dishes, she read directly from a copy of the menu which she was carrying. One of the members of our party is pregnant which we indicated ahead of time when making the reservation. Our server was unaware prior to our arrival and upon being told was unable to make proper suggestions as to what dish accommodations could be made.
We were celebrating both an anniversary and a birthday and were thankful to the restaurant for bringing out sparkling rose as well as a mocktail for the pregnant member of our party.
Overall, the ambiance was incredible and we had a fun night but we don’t think we’ll be returning to celebrate again.
The ribeye entree was over cooked and dry.
Amazing view of downtown from the highest building.
Muy buen servicio y la cena espectacular! Recomendado
A very good place to bring a client or out of town visitor for the spectacular view.
But also very good for regular lunches.
Set menu with two groups of choices provide wide alternatives. Lunch prices are very reasonable. The personnel are professional, prompt and kind.
Getting up to 71st floor involves changing elevators en route but it goes very smoothly. I have been there a few times in July 2019 and hope to return often.
If you are at a table away from the windows, the location is not quite as special. The food was outstanding as it's been the past 3 times we've been there.
We had a fantastic time at this restaurant! We were treated like royalty by everyone! The food was amazing!
I have to say that we were a little disappointed in the dinner we had at 71above. When we arrived, we were told that we would have to vacate the table by 9:00 for another party. That would be ok except that the rest of the wait staff was not informed. The service was, at best leasurely. We were just not happy with the food at all. Some of it tasted like dirt. Yuck
The restaurant itself is very nicely designed and obviously the views are outstanding. The cocktails were well-made and definitely a highlight. However, and despite the menu having plenty of delicious-sounding options, none of the six courses (three-course meal x 2 people) were in any way excellent. The best was the garlic and potato soup that my wife started with; everything else was just okay. Not terrible, but just okay, which isn't acceptable considering the $82/person price for the three courses.
All staff were friendly and attentive. Food was excellent.
Birthday was a wonderful experience.
I went to this restaurant for the first time last night, and it has now become on of my favorite restaurants in L. A. We first went to the bar drinks and appetizers, and everything we had was delicious! I especially recommend the bacon-wrapped dates.
Dinner was equally wonderful. The Japanese rib-eye is probably the best steak I’ve ever had. My two friends were equally impressed, and we vowed to return here again. It’s expensive, but well worth it, and view is probably the best in town!
