Superb food. Truly A+. Holds its own with Per Se and 11 Madison. Very inventive flavor combos. Excellent value for the money. Beautiful space, but louder than it should be. Hard to have a real conversation.
World class meal every aspect. Couldn’t recommend more highly, must visit
Everything - literally everything was great however it’s a bit pricey.
We were a party of three at dinner ( one guest was vegetarian). The food is excellent and innovative and definitely by itself rates 5 stars. Specially excellent were : Appetizers- Cedar baked asparagus with truffle aioli, Blue fin tuna and the smoked quail; Entrees - Sweet potato baked in seaweed bread and the Halibut; Dessert - Buckweed puff pastry and the milk chocolate cream, hazelnut praline. Negative : The mark-up on the wines is too high and the wine list is missing good options in the $70-140 range. Service is very good and friendly. Ambience is good with low noise level.
Great meal for a friend’s birthday. Food and atmosphere were exceptional.
Treated like absolute royalty from the ground up. So very posh but not pretentious, and welcomed by real hosts who were delighted to have us. Recommended to the highest degree.
Didn’t like the desserts we ordere but the dinner was wonderful fun and the location for the theater district is great!
We came here for our wedding anniversary. The service was amazing and the food was excellent. They treated us to wine pairings and there seemed to be one (or two) amuse bouche preceding each course. We got the three course prix-fixe but our chef kept sending extra tastings. They were all yummy. I loved the sea scallop appetizer and found the duck entree delicious. My wife had the sea urchin risotto which was tasty too, and the lobster, which she liked best (but I thought the duck was better). We mostly followed the waiter’s recommendations and were pleased with them. At dessert in addition to our two desserts (olive oil gelato and milk chocolate praline) they brought out a piece of cheesecake and a rich chocolate anniversary cake. Plus at the very end some hand dipped chocolate candies. How did we end up with 5 desserts?! They also brought out champagne, sherry, and a mystery wine tasting, all on the house. We couldn’t figure out how this delicious and pleasant restaurant in the middle of the theatre district was so quiet on a Sunday night but we figured it must just be a hidden gem.
Impeccable service. Outstanding Food. Delicious wine pairings. We had such a wonderful time. I took my Mom and she was smiling the entire time. We truly enjoyed everything
An absolute stunner.
Plush interiors, attentive service, potent cocktails, plenty of amuse bouches and exceptional caliber of chef’s cooking expertise surprised, pleased, and satisfied.
Quite a spectacular dining experience it
Amazing service and food!!
Outstanding food, next level service (Samantha?). Just a spectacularly enjoyable, in-rushes meal with perfect wine pairings and thoughtful advice from the service team. And a wonderful invitation to step outside to the terrace for a sunset view. Will be back soon.
701West exceeded expectations. We had a fantastic weekend dinner on a Sunday night. The service was impeccable from the moment we sat down.
Our sommelier Emma turned what was already a great meal into an amazing evening. She was professional yet friendly at the same time and elevated our meal with excellent wine pairings tailored to our personal palettes. Thank you Emma!
The pris-fixe menu was fantastic and offered several small surprises along the way. The entire staff did a great job giving us the space to enjoy the ambiance and our conversation while savoring each of the wines Emma poured for us.
Overall an experience I can absolutely recommend.
First time there Saturday night. It was my date's birthday...and it was outstanding. The staff was outstanding (we had a young lady I forgot her name with brown curley'ish hair) and she could not have been nicer, cooler or more informed about the menu. I eat out a lot...I am a true NY'er and 701 West was as good an experience as I have had here in town or anywhere in a LONG TIME. We went outside and had a drink terrace and had a drink after dinner....it was great. She reccomended a scotch and instead of saying her "try this billion scotch" she suggesed a great $40 that I did not know and it was great. Very cool of her. Once summer is over and people are back to normal schedules this place should be a big hit. I will be back.
Fantastic fine dining experience with wonderful service—in an area of Manhattan where that’s next to impossible to find.
Fantastic dining experience. Every bite is HEAVENLY
Our expectations were exceeded in every way. The food was creative, beautifully prepared and tasty. Service was fantastic - everyone was attentive but not invasive, and also extremely knowledgeable. The atmosphere was sophisticated but modern and comfortable. We even liked the music! I was specifically interested in the cheese course, and even though there were only 7 cheese options, I was not at all disappointed in the quality of the cheese I tasted. The prix fixe of $90 for 3 courses turned into 6, when you include an amuse bouche and some other offerings from the chef - suffice it to say that we left not just full but swooning.
The service was impeccable and the meal was outstanding. We were treated like a king and queen. And lots of delicious unique food.
Took my dad here for his birthday before a bway show. Dinner was timed perfectly for us to make it to the show. We did the 3 course dinner. Started with a delicious espresso martini. Ordered the asparagus and scallop for appetizer. The duck breast and filet mignon for entree. The cheese selection and almond dessert. They brought my dad some chocolates at the end with a little candle for his birthday, which was cute. Everything was delicious! Staff super attentive and friendly. Samantha was awesome! Definitely made the meal even more enjoyable. We went very early and the restaurant was quiet which we liked because we could chat. Definitely will be back.
Love love love this place and can't understand why only so few people have discovered this gem yet. I hope they will soon get a raving NY Times review soon that creates a line out the door. One little advise though, first time I went an a-la-carte dinner was still an option. On our second visit we were only presented with the 3-course menu option. That's a bit limiting and makes dinner at this restaurant a much bigger affair than need, especially for a local.
The meal was superb with attentive and informed service throughout. I would highly recommend 701 West to anyone looking for fine dining and an incredible atmosphere in the heart of the city. The rooftop view of a spectacular sunset atop Times Square was an added treat that we were not expecting.
This is not only a spectacular room but the food and drinks are superb. And definetly a five start service all around. Kudos!
Great attentive service. Very accommodating staff. Patio not yet open but the allowed us to go out and take pictures...great view. Entree was a bit salty. Otherwise the rest of the meal was good.
The food was EXCELLENT. Our waiter was terrific and very helpful with suggestions and answering our questions. It's a very attractive room. It's certainly pricey but I thought it was well worth it. I'd go back anytime.
A delight! The restaurant is a sanctuary in the sanctuary that is the Edition. Michelin quality food served by a staff that is knowable and pleasant. I was especially please that in a pause between dinner and dessert that our server asked us out to the outdoor balcony to watch a lovely sunset down 47th street.
Beautiful space complimented with some of the best dinner service we have ever had. They are super attentive to the table. We love the ambience and would score it a solid 10 stars if we could. Spending a whole week in NYC can get a little grueling. This is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. On top of the course dinner we ordered they offered us many complimentary dishes between which was quite lovely. We will definitely make this a staple every time we venture into the city for a few days.
What an amazing new find. Beautiful cozy space. Food was impeccable. The risotto with squid ink and Uni, was an amazing rendition. Deft in it texture, mouthfeel and complex flavor. Uni was impossibly sweet and fresh.
This was one of the best dining experiences we have ever enjoyed (and we are not fine dining novices). The food was delicious. For the first courses we ordered the scallop and octopus dishes. The scallops were delicious and perfectly cooked. The octopus dish was also great with a spicy kick from very thinly sliced jalapeños. For mains, our group ordered the filet, duck and salmon and they were flawless. The desserts were sublime. One of us ordered cheese in lieu of a dessert and really enjoyed the selection. Two of us had the wine pairings and they were fantastic and a good value. If you're thinking that the price point for a 3 dish prix fixe is too high, be aware that you will receive wonderful additional dishes that make this not only a great dining experience, but worth the price for a celebration (in our case) or other special occasion. The room is very attractive, with comfy blue velvet couches. Initially, we thought the music was a bit loud, but we really enjoyed the music selections and wished we could find the soundtrack online by the end of our dinner. The service was great and we enjoyed learning about the wines and why they were chosen to accompany the courses. We will definitely return the next time we are in NYC for a special occasion.
A great dining experience, a must if staying at the Edition!!
We were a little challenged actually finding the 701West, as the building entrance was a little tucked back. After that, it was by far one of the best dining experiences I have had in my life. Our waiter was
Samantha Moretti, the perfect balance of attention. Brilliant at arranging our Mock tails and even better when she recommended coming back for desert, as she did not want us to rush our meal.
From the NY pretzel to the most wonder duck, lamb and beef dishes I look forward to returning. Samantha is a rock star !
Food was delicious and well presented. Several nice 'extras'. Service was great. We like ice in our ice water, and after providing a full glass of ice cubes, it was replenished without asking throughout our meal. Staff members asked about the food and wine and were actually interested in what we had to say. Hope they are successful.
A lovely anniversary dinner at 701West, John Fraser’s new fine-dining restaurant in The Edition hotel in Times Square. A three-course prix fixe menu. We opted for the wine pairings, foregoing an extensive wine list with many options above our price point. Plenty of supplements to accompany the three courses, which were creative and very tasty. Attentive service in a lovely room. We’ll be back.
Easily the best meal in a long time! The tasting menu is brilliant and the wine pairing even better!
Our server, Emma, was knowledgeable and attentive. A truly wonderful evening. Thank you!
This is a terrific restaurant. Beat duck I’ve had in my life. Maybe one of the quieter, wood panelled, classy places in Times Square.
Fantastic Food, Knowledgable wine staff for pairings, overall great experience!
My second visit was rather more successful than the first. Service is in considerably better shape than just after opening and the food, which was already in good shape, is now a notch better. So, here's what to expect: carefully composed plates of sophisticated, pleasantly creative American fare, sometimes with surprisingly bold flavors given the fine-dining techniques that are behind each dish. (Fans of chef John Fraser's beloved Dovetail will be familiar with his approach.) The kitchen crew is still struggling a bit to get the temperatures right, but they'll get there. I was less enthused about the desserts, like the panna cotta with a thick pudding-like consistency. Be prepared: it's pricey, especially the wine list. Pretty room with good acoustics, but the place is not easy to find from the street and it will require instructions to find the actual restaurant inside the hotel. The Times Square location makes it ideal for a pre-theater meal, but the style and prices are more appropriate for a leisurely repast rather than a 90-minute pre-show bite. Will be interested to see how it evolves. Promising!
Great meal and really accommodating staff. Not cheap but well worth every dollar!
Food and service were extraordinary.
Really enjoyed 701West where I took some friends from out of town. The food was fantastic and the service was exceptional. I would highly recommend it.
