The food was good but the service sub-par. We never really had a dedicated server, more a tag-team approach (which can work when all the parts work in consort).
We waited to be seated despite a reservation, but not too long. We sat down and waited a while for someone to come over and take a drink order. I heard the table next door being read what sounded like a long list of specials (the waiter was describing them in detail). Finally someone came over, he did not read and specials, when we asked, he tried, but he did not really know them nor could he articulate them (his English was not good). He sent another waiter over to articulate the specials. She also took our drink order. Later the "head" server came over and explained our first waiter was new. He seemed to take over, made sure we finally got our drinks and things seemed to get back on track until the end of the meal. We saw the head waiter leave the restaraunt and take off in a car that was parked out front, and then we were left hanging again. FInally, we went over and asked yet a fourth person for the bill. I have no trouble dealing with a new server, especially if they tell you so, but this guy was not prepared to handle a table (he was VERY nice though). Totally felt like an afterthought. It is a fine dining establishment without the requisite service. Great space.
We have no idea what the restaurant is like. We drove from Cairns specifically to have lunch. When we arrived there was a notice advising that they
Were closed. We managed to get a table at Salsa instead which was very good. Would have liked a phone call or text to update situation
We had an excellent experience last night, all four of us were very pleased with all aspects of 2-Fish. The two wives shared a seafood platter which was very sensibly served as the cold components followed later by the warm parts of the platter so the two were separated by a good wait time to finish each dish.
We have eaten here before on previous visits to Port Douglas but this was easily the best experience we have had at 2-Fish. The scallops were great as was the fillet steak.
Excellent service, outdoor area prevents it being too noisy, and food is fantastic. Best eye fillet we have ever had, seafood done perfectly and some lovely original dishes. Our gluten-free & vegetarian diners were happy. Possibly the best classic lime daiquaries in Port Douglas.
Friendly and efficient service; comprehensive menu; casual and friendly atmosphere. Need to note the seafood cleanliness- friend ordered razor clam pasta and was full of sand in the clams. Also, requested a candle to be put on the dessert but this was not provided.
The venue is lovely fits beautifully with the ambience of Port Douglas - we certainly enjoyed great service and hospitality our waiter Connor was exceptionally good with nothing being too much trouble! He was both personable and professional
The food was very good - perhaps a bit more info with respect to the spaghetti dish (that it is a cream sauce) may have assisted in me selecting another main course- bever the less it was hot and plentiful- my partners coral trout was delicious
Very average visit this time. Has been great at other visits but this time the waitress was not quite with it, the serves were small & luke warm, there was no allowances to change small variances on the menu so overall it was very half hearted. We took friends with us & I am so sorry we did.
Entrees were overpriced for size and the scallops undercooked. The coral trout main was excellent and saved this rating from being very poor. The Moreton Bay bugs were all undercooked and plate was sent back with one untouched for chef to review. We were told they took "a couple of drinks" off our bill but the chef insists the dish was cooked correctly. Bugs were nicely cooked on the very outside but translucent underneath.
Dessert was fantastic, wine selection good, otherwise underwhelmed.
Very lovely experience. Food was excellent, but the dessert and shortbread with coffee were exceptional. The citrus tart did not look very exciting, but the combination of all the flavours was fab. Coconut prawns were delish! Bug curry yummy. Coral trout yummy, calamari tender.
Our servers were all very pleasant, all in all a very good experience. The restaurant itself is very attractive, even though there is no view, it makes up for that with the decor. Highly recommended.
Over cooked and dry crustaceans and raw scallops. Drowned cold seafood straight from the fridge on a warm plate. No bread, no salt or pepper, no sauce or lemon - with a seafood platter? Really???! Half the price in Melbourne twice the quality. Be back if someone else is shouting. Ridiculous prices.
We had the seafood platter. The Oysters were nice and tasty and a plumpness to the flesh, the prawns were great - but so were prawns at lesser places so this was to be expected, and the smoked salmon was, well, smoked salmon. I wasn't too sure what the chef was trying to do with the cream cheese that was served with the salmon - it certainly was cream - but where was the cheese.
So onto the hot platter - well now that is amazing. Scallops, yabbies and morton bay bugs. All cooked to perfection.
Perhaps next time the hot platter coupled with a bucket of prawns and it would be awesome.
This place did win best seafood restaurant in Australia not so long ago. Not sure if i would say that about 2 fish - but you would be well advised to give it a go.
Our waitress was new and quite inexperienced. I understand that all staff start off new at some point, but english was perhaps not her first language - so at times she didn't seem to understand the questions that we asked, and overall she lacked knowledge of the menu. She admitted she was yet to dine at the restaurant - which explains her lack of knowledge re: the menu.
On arrival the manager, Daisy, was friendly, helpful and explained everything. Made us feel very comfortable. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful also, making sure we had everything we needed.
Sitting outside in this beautiful paradise setting was pure bliss!!
