2 Fish Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Over cooked and dry crustaceans and raw scallops. Drowned cold seafood straight from the fridge on a warm plate. No bread, no salt or pepper, no sauce or lemon - with a seafood platter? Really???! Half the price in Melbourne twice the quality. Be back if someone else is shouting. Ridiculous prices.
We had the seafood platter. The Oysters were nice and tasty and a plumpness to the flesh, the prawns were great - but so were prawns at lesser places so this was to be expected, and the smoked salmon was, well, smoked salmon. I wasn't too sure what the chef was trying to do with the cream cheese that was served with the salmon - it certainly was cream - but where was the cheese.
So onto the hot platter - well now that is amazing. Scallops, yabbies and morton bay bugs. All cooked to perfection.
Perhaps next time the hot platter coupled with a bucket of prawns and it would be awesome.
This place did win best seafood restaurant in Australia not so long ago. Not sure if i would say that about 2 fish - but you would be well advised to give it a go.
Our waitress was new and quite inexperienced. I understand that all staff start off new at some point, but english was perhaps not her first language - so at times she didn't seem to understand the questions that we asked, and overall she lacked knowledge of the menu. She admitted she was yet to dine at the restaurant - which explains her lack of knowledge re: the menu.
On arrival the manager, Daisy, was friendly, helpful and explained everything. Made us feel very comfortable. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful also, making sure we had everything we needed.
Sitting outside in this beautiful paradise setting was pure bliss!!
Upon arrival we were smothered in service. Friendly knowledgable staff. Entree just right size as were mains. Food was superb. Fish perfectly cooked with Asian vegetable flavours. Sauces were memorable. First class and Wd recommend to anyone looking for a polished fish restaurant
Our waitress didn't understand the concept of starter, then entree, so we were delivered both at once and sent our entree back. She spent the rest of the evening stomping her feet around the restaurant, very unprofessional. People from overseas on the next table were very confused by her delivery of the specials. It wasn't the most enjoyable experience compared to last year where 2 Fish went to the top of our most favourite restaurants in PD. I don't usually comment negatively to restaurants in PD but compared to the others we have dined at this year unfortunately 2 Fish goes to the bottom of our dining experiences. Food was excellent but front of house was disappointing.
We ate whenever in Port Douglas at the previous address in Wharf Road but the new location, 15 mins from the 3 busy hotels at the other end of Mactossan Street, is far far quieter, more spacious and "up martket". Excellent food, good wine list (especially the selections by the glass) and efficient but not intrusive service. A strong competitor to the other quality restaurants.
When an evaluation option is listed as "scenic views" for 2 Fish we realize this is a generic review. Think again. The food was wonderful but too many dishes contained chilli. The corn base for the scallops was a brilliant stroke . The coral trout a real "best fish" surprise for people from Buckley, Vic. The bugs filling - some beautifully done, some dryish. The sorbets were delightfully and surprisingly different and refreshing. Holly and Chris were brilliant. Best in Port Douglas.
Food great. Manager was very attentive. Other waiters inattentive and seldom checked table to see if needed more water or another drink. We ordered red wine and showed waitress the particular brand on the wine list. After some time two glasses of white arrived! We noticed this also happened at other nearby tables
Staff extremely friendly and helpful
Food, an explosion of flavours.
I had the trout and would highly recommend anyone going there to have it
Will be the first place I go back to, to dine for dinner when I return to port Douglas
Thanks2 fish for such a beautiful night
