I've got to say overall it was ok. But when you are paying more than $120/head I think its reasonable to expect more.
Most of the food was very good - loved the deserts. Chicken was far too salty - was not eaten.
Service could have been better as well even though it is that time of the year.
A bit transactional I'm afraid.
The food was amazing - the highlights , the lamb Manti is a dished clearly made for the gods - and the lamb shoulder was superb - we also squeezed in some calamari, saganaki and Yia Yia’s chips - and some wine to end the day - great flavours and foods.
The service was excellent and this is a place you must come to when in Sydney
The restaurant layout and configuration is excellent and the place has to be worthy of a Michelin star
Great service, friendly and welcoming from the moment you are greeted at the entrance to the time you leave. Amazing food that livens your tastebuds and reminds you of home. Ambient lighting both upstairs in the restaurant and downstairs in the bar that takes you back to a time that makes you appreciate your heritage!!
Fantastic food, bubbly vibe, amazing fitout and really nice bar downstairs for a couple of quiet pre-dinner drinks. Recommend the stuffed calamari, pork belly baklava, wild green and leak pie, Chicken Manestra, caramel baklava ice cream - must haves! We’ll definitely be back 👌🏽
A very fine restaurant serving innovative versions of traditional Greek food. It is busy and a bit noisy but for this kind of place that adds to the ambience rather than detracts. Excellent wine list with really good Greek wines. The whole table meals are excellent value.
This was a first time for 1821 - I had not even heard of it but one of my colleagues passed it and liked the look of it. We had a wonderful meal, with excellent wine. The service was exemplary and I would recommend it highly to anyone who is looking for a Greek experience. Ten points 1821!
Food was incredible, wine & cocktails were amazing. Ambience was a little flat and a bit of a let down for a Saturday lunch but the food was amazing and I will definitely be back, the saganaki was incredible and the salmon was delicious, every dish was perfect hopefully next time there will be some music & a better vibe but definitely an enjoyable lunch.
We booked for a pre-theatre dinner. The food was outstanding, and service could not be faulted. We particularly enjoyed the Barbecue lamb - so authentic. Portion sizes were excellent - very generous, in fact we could not finish the dishes we ordered. Loved the tzasiki and oven baked bread, and the cocktails were so tasty. Would highly recommend this restaurant, intend to return in the not too distant future.
Our table and another table were ignored by the wait staff for 40 minutes, we tried to get their attention but they served us our drink and gave us menus and were not interested in coming back for 40 minutes until we got up, put on our jackets and got very close to the door, another table seemed equally unimpressed! Pity it's a lovely room! Not a great way to spend my birthday!
We had a group booking at 630pm and were asked to move to the bar downstairs at 8pm. We were very confused as to why we had to move so early. The restaurant wasn't full but they insisted that we move. No one told
Us at the time of booking that we would only have 1.5hrs at the table.
When we moved downstairs, where we were offer dessert, the bar only had 1-couple and really lacked atmosphere.
We stayed for one cocktail but then decided to leave as we were the only people there.
When we went walked upstairs, the restaurant was not full, so many empty chairs we were really confused as to why we were made to move.
2nd visit with some Thai Hoteliers and needed a bit of a wow factor, so once again 1821 delivered! Great food, superb service and just a great evening. My clients loved it and one of them was a non-lamb fan, but left the restaurant fully converted. Thanks 1821, will be back and have since recommended it for my colleagues for similar occasions
